  1. For the first time in the 20 years that Amazon has allowed users to review products, the company is taking legal action against businesses it claims sells fake reviews to third-party sellers. The Seattle Times reports that Amazon filed a lawsuit Wednesday in a Washington state court against four websites – BuyAmazonReviews.com, BayReviews.net, BuyReviewsNow.com. and BuyAzonReviews.com – and their operators, accusing the companies of an array of illegal business practices that undermine customer trust and the integrity of the online retailer. Amazon says in the lawsuit that it actively monitors its website for “false, misleading and inauthentic reviews.” However,…

  3. Hey guys, I am simply trying to help out a guy who called me up seeking help for his parents. They are down there in age and he wants to get some sort of device which can read back books to them and also from which they can listen to music. Since vision will be important we are thinking maybe the largest tablet would work fine? I am thinking he can get ebooks which can be played back but what about the ebook reading aloud situation, what's the best thing for them please?

  5. CryptoMonitor is a new Anti-Ransomware solution that was developed to protect your computer or server against the wave of encrypting Ransomware that has been in the wild the last few years. These infections, like CryptoWall, CryptoLocker, CTB Locker, CryptorBit, KeyHolder, TELSA, Operation Global, TorrentLocker, CryptoDefense, ZeroLocker (And Many Many More.), will use numerous exploits or other methods to get onto the victims machine and once launched encrypts/locks all personal files. 6. We know dogs are truly loyal to their owners. It doesn’t matter if the pet owner is a law-abiding citizen or not, the pet will stand by his or her owner no matter what. In Florianópolis, Brazil, police officers raided a home and apprehended a group of drug traffickers. When the arrest was made, a pet was found in the residence and when the four-legged friend saw his owners lying on the floor, he too surrendered himself and lay next to his owners. One of the officers found the action of the canine endearing and snapped a photograph of the dog next to his owners. The officer posted the image on Twitter and the image went viral. The dog’s name and breed are unknown,…

Have you been the target of an April Fools joke? I haven't, but: one of my granddaughters coated a raw egg (shell in tact) with chocolate icing and placed it in her sister's Easter basket. :yikes: Apparently she inherited my No. 3 son's sense of humor and ingenuity.

  9. A new build of Windows 10 has leaked and with it comes new mail and calendar apps. As you can see from the image in this post, the UI has been overhauled. It should not come as a big surprise that these apps have been updated as Microsoft has overhauled nearly every aspect of Windows 10. The new UI represents Microsoft's more modern but less metroy style. It doesn't look like there is much new in the way of functionality but you should expect these updates to arrive in the next release of Windows 10 for Insiders. With Build only a few weeks away, don't be surprised if we don't see much in the way of new features being added as Microsoft may hold a few thi…

  10. I have been using Adguard for the past few days and I like it a lot better than Ad Block Plus. It has filtered all of the advertisements so far and it also tells you whether a site is safe or not. I have the free version and it does everything I want it to do. Adguard works with Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome. You can quite easily add filters in case there is a site that you don't wish to block ads. http://adguard.com/en/download.html?show=1&os=pc

  15. The wait is over. Microsoft has been teasing the capabilities of Project Spartan for months. Those that have held their breath with news of each new Build release can finally exhale. Today, Microsoft is rolling out a brand new Windows 10 build to Fast Ring Windows Insiders, build 10049. And, this one is all about Project Spartan. There are some fixes for known issues and some improvements, but the primary reason this new build is releasing so quickly after build 10041 is so Windows Insiders can finally get a chance to test the browser Microsoft is pinning its web future on. Build 10049 is propagating now and should be available everywhere within the next hour …

Before I upgrade to the Malwarebytes new version, I'd like to check to see if anyone has had a problem with it. I am still using XP, so I'd sincerely appreciate feedback on this upgrade. It's likely that I'm paranoid. I'm no computer expert; I try to avoid potential problems (especially since I have XP).

  22. Hi, I regularly help an elderly friend (88) with computer problems (via email as he lives some 150 miles away). He has gained in confidence to the extent that he has been able to help an even more elderly lady neighbour of his. However, so far this time, his neighbour's problem has defeated him. As yet I do not have any details regarding the operating system (although I presume it's Windows 7) or the version of Internet Explorer (but I assume that it is v11). The problem as reported to me is as follows: When she clicks on IE to open it she gets "dub113maillive.com/?tide" and the mouse pointer freezes - I'm sorry I cannot be more specific as the detail I have b…

  24. Last week we saw a lot of news around the upcoming release of Windows 10. One of the stories that seemed to really grab everyone's attention was the idea that users of a pirated copy of Windows would be allowed to upgrade to Windows 10 for free and become a legitimately licensed user of Windows. A few days later Microsoft clarified that stance and indicated pirated copies of Windows would be able to upgrade to Windows 10 however, the licensed state of that machine would remain in a non-genuine status. What do you think? Should Microsoft just allow these illegally licensed copies of Windows to become legitimate through the free Windows 10 upgrade process? Source :…

Have you had any funny Computer experiences? I just had a Senior Moment. I sit at a 6ft long computer desk and have two computers running, each with headsets. Got an email with a YouTube link from a friend and clicked on it. I had my headset on and no sound. Dam it was working this morning. Checked Utube volume slider (Full) Checked Speaker slider in task bar (Full volume) Checked other Utube links no sound. Went into sound properties and double checked everything was correct. Opened Skype and did sound check, Yes when I spoke the volume slider moved but couldn't hear the sound check. Idiot. I had the wrong headset on.:big_ha:
