Good morning, I don't know if I chose the apropriate subforum, I chose this one because the first symptom of my problem derives from the process of installation Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard on Dell PowerEdge R710 rack server. -- Symptoms: -- When I try to install Windows Server it all goes well to the point where computer must be rebooted for the very first time. It hangs, leaving message "wait until computer is reboted" or something similar (you know what I mean). I waited him, indeed, for couple of hours to no avail... When I shutdown the computer holding the power switch and power on again, the process of installation finishes sucessfully, and the whole sy…

Hello! I've been having a few issues with my computer which usually end up with the blue screen of death. I've run all sorts of diagnostic programs and the only consistent thing that keeps popping up is that "root\seehcricd" is an unknown device. Has anyone come across this before? Thanks.

  6. Hi All, This has been driving me potty, I'm trying to create a roaming profile for a user but for whatever reason I am unable to write to the network share. The user account has full privileges to the directory (I even made it so "Everyone" does) but not matter if I login through Windows 7 (as a Directory Server) or through another OS as a normal fileshare I can't write to the folder I'm running Server 2008 R2 Trial Edition (if this makes any difference) Kind regards James

Hi everyone, I am new to NAP and Windows 2008 security options. I have a small network of 20 PCs all joined to a Windows 2008 domain. Every so often, some clients visit our offices and connect via wireless to browse the Internet. At the moment, they get an IP from our Domain range and can view the domain shares (those visible to everyone like NetLogon). I would like to give out IPs from another range if the Laptop is not joined with the domain. Can this be done with NAP in Windows 2008? Kindly help. Thanks in advance

We are due to roll out Office 2010 soon and in the process of 'testing' the product, I discovered that if you right click on the Inbox, the option to Delete All is available....this could be a 'dangerous' option in the environment I work in so I was wondering if anyone knew of a way of 'disabling' or greying out this option? Many thanks Lee

Hello. I have a problem with the remote printers. I have a domain with about 60 workers with XP Pro SP2. Recently i've installed a new server with Windows Server 2008 R2 and they can't "import" their local installed printers to the remote session. The printer drivers have already been installed in Windows Server 2008 R2. Can anyone give me a hint to solve this? Thank you!

Hi, We have a client having trouble with their network, now and then the workstations can not talk with the server anymore (can not access files on the shared folders etc, email doesn't work, can not browse internet etc) untill they restart the server and everything is working fine again. We have determined the problem is the following event: Event ID 8003 The master browser has received a server announcement from the computer "computer name" that believes that it is the master browser for the domain on transport NetBT_Tcpip_{70CEAA76-DAE3-443A-B45A-625D742F27BB}. The master browser is stopping or an election is being forced. We have performed all the solutio…

This has been driving me nuts - and I've searched everywhere for a solution with no luck ... A few weeks ago, we installed a new Server 2008 R2 box setup for DHCP, DNS and AD. At random intervals throughout the day, users will be unable to resolve domains that they were just on a few minutes prior. They get the "Diagnose Connection" screen in IE8. Everyone on the network is setup to get DHCP from the server and their primary (and only) DNS IP is that of the server as well. When the problems with domain resolution occur and I do an NSLOOKUP from the client, I get the error message "DNS Query Time Out. Time Out Was 2 Seconds". I checked the server and I currently have…

  16. HOW TO DISABLE AUTOMATIC REBOOT AFTER BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH One of the most annoying things when getting the dreaded BSOD is you are just not quick enough to take not of the error :) So lets fix that little issue Right-click on the Computer icon and choose Properties then click on Advanced system settings. The Advanced tab should already be selected, so you’ll want to click the Settings button under “Startup and Recovery”. just uncheck the option for Automatically restart under the System failure section. Next time you get a BSOD you’ll be able to see it and able to write down the error message. You’ll have to manually reboot the computer if this happens.…

Hello everyone. My name is Jonathan and I have a problem that doesn't want to be solved. I have two W2k8 R2 servers with a Primary and secundairy domain on them. The DNS work great and nothing more is on the server. After a couple of days the two servers were on hibernate or sleep mode. To disable hibernate I used the following command: "powercfg.exe /hibernate off" only it didn't solved my problem. Knowing that it probally is sleep mode that's causing this problem isn't helping me much. Google gave me some good results but none of those results helped me and power managment was already set on high performance by me. It happends after 40 min. roughly. So my q…

  20. Microsoft is pretty tight lipped when it comes to the release of the next version of Windows, which for now is known as Windows 8. Many experts have predicted that Windows 8 will be released in three year’s time after the release of Windows 7, which would suggest a release in the last quarter of 2012 in the most important markets. This is probably going to be something simple, however I can't figure it out. I have a 2008 DC running on one virtual machine and a Forefront server running on another. The DC has DNS installed (of course) and that all works fine. Now this is where I'm running into a problem I have DNS also installed on the FF server to resolve DNS from the internet. The DC is set as the primary DNS server, with no fowarders listed, and the FF is set as the secondary DNS server which does have the fowarders to my ISPs DNS servers. This setup is working, mostly. It resolves but far more slowly than it should. My friend tells me that I shouldn't need a DNS server on the FF server, but…

  22. Hi, I hope this is the right place in the forum for my problem. I have a Small Business Server 2008 with Terminal Services and Outlook 2003. The users log on the Server with RDP. They added some calendars from other users in Outlook. The problem is that Outlook does not save the check marks so they have to click on the marks every time they start outlook. But they do not have to add the calendars again. Thanks in advance. pYro.O

  23. Hello, Because of hardware change our Windows 2008 Std license was de-activated. We proceeded to re-activate it via online without problems and now all is fine except a water mark located in desktop (right down) indicating "not genuine Windows". Do you think next time we restart server that water mark will disappear or is necesary to do something else? Thank you in advance for your attention. Best regards.

Hi, Thanks in advance for your help. We've got a Server 2008 R2 of approximately 500 computers. Within that last couple of days, we've had several computers get randomly "kicked off" the domain. When a user attempts to log in, in gives an error that the domain controller cannot be found or that there is no account for that computer. However, when I go into active directory, the computer's account is still there. The fix is to log in locally to that machine, goto network identification and retype the domain name. After a restart the computer is again able to log onto the domain. The fix is easy enough but every day brings another batch of machines that can't …

Hy there, I am very new to windows 2008 server and my boss ask me to install it and to configure a web and a mail server on it. I did it at first (it took me a while) then after a power failure the server had to be reinstalled. I had a backup on the second partition but i couldn't restore the partition table and had to take from scratch again. I have a kerio mail server which is configured on 8080 port as the web server uses 80 port so for that matter all is good. The problem is I can send emails anywhere but i cannot receive from exterior. I mean from within the domain i can send and receive but with exterior i can only send. So my question is WHAT AM I D…
