Ok I've been asked to say hi so hi? A little about me: Hmmm!!! Let me put it this way. I know a lot about computers and know very little about computers. What I mean is, I manage to solve some problems quite quickly and effectively while others (possibly simpler) stoop me? Looking forward to helping you guys and being helped and possibly to chat about this and that. Mich It s only with the heart that one can see rightly what is essential is invisible to the eye. Yep, it was far cheaper to get an HP laptop with the Adobe CS4 suite via an educational package than to get a new Mac laptop so I did. 18 year Mac veteran (I'm an art director) but now also using Vista. So far, I love it. Best advice I've had... disable auto-updates from Microsoft.. Vista for Dummies is awesome (as is AskWoody.com, the author) I've had zero problems. Best thing about Vista (working in Windows) for me so far? The free apps like FileZilla that work 100% perfectly and provide what I need instead of having to buy numerous small apps. Hello everyone

Hello to everyone. I have a degree in Computer Science. I'm currently unable to work and on disability, but I volunteer to help individuals and non-profits Iwith their computer problems. I've been picking up computers people leave on the sidewalk, rebuilding them so I can give them away to job seekers needing a computer. I usually put FreeBSD UNIX or openSUSE on these machines, since these discarded machines are old and too slow for windows. I'm a member of Microsoft TechNet, so I can keep up with technology I may need to get back into the job market if I get my health back. My hobby is attempt to get the newest software possible to run on the oldest computer. …

My name is Bob Schwarz. I own a network of sites that cover a wide variety of topics. All my sites can be found at Schwarz Network the main homepage for all my sites. Windows 8 Forum is the newest site to join the network. I've been a geek for as long as I can remember. It started when I built my first shortwave radio while I was in the process of getting my Amateur Radio license. Soon I was writing code on an old Commodore 64 to allow me to control my SSB radio and to log contacts. My very first website, which is still online, was born to share what I learned. Years later I have a Network of sites to continue to share and exchange ideas. I hope you all enjoy what …

I'm a new user to this forum. I just wanted to say hello. I'm trying to find the best way to move to a Windows 2008 domain. Is it best to migrate to 2008 from 2003 or just create a whole new domain from scratch? If you have any ideas I would appreciate a reply. TxNupe

Hi, all, Just a quick hello from a new member. Recently bought a Dell D-8400, Intel IV 3.0 G, 1 G DDRAM, 160 G Western Digital, with SoundMax, Soundblaster Live 24, DVD, CD-RW, and the ubiquitous ATI Radeon 300 SE/128 mg PCI Express video card. It is the latter item that is quietly driving me insane. This computer should scream from start to finish. I've stripped all background programs and services to the bare bones, via MSConfig, kept the h/d at about 120 Gigs spare room and run defrag, scandisk and diskclean weekly. One would think that a genuine Intel PIV at 3.00 Ghz, with 600 fsb, 1 full Gig of DDRAM and a 128-mg graphics card would keep things moving fai…
