Hello Linuxforums, I have got a Problem. My Apache2 is taking 100% of my CPU without any users. There are two processes (PIDs) which are taking 2 x 50% CPU constantly. I tried to kill them but with no success, they are back in a few seconds. It really slows down my Website to 10-20 seconds load time. I can make a Code: strace -p of that two Processes if needed, also any help would be perfect. Thank You. Continue reading...

Hello everyone. I am having two problems. Firstly, I am having an issue with the desktop being too big, all the icons are off the screen and I can't click on any of them. I can't change the resolution on my monitor. I have had this same problem with Ubuntu 13.04 and OpenSuse 13 and Mint 16. My second problem is if I am able to open up a window I cannot use my mouse to click on any folders, I am only able to use the keyboard to do it. I have an LG 24 inch monitor and I am running on an I7 3.06GHZ proc, I put the OS's on an Intel 180GB SSD and I have 16GB of RAM and my mouse is an Cyborg R.A.T 7 mouse. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks! Continue reading...

hello, I followed this tutorial: Gaming on Linux- Excalibur: Morgana's Revenge v3.0 | Unixmen... I somehow managed to install a few games. when I am finished installing them the games tend to start automatically, then I install another. I just assumed that each game would place an icon somewhere in the application menu. it did not. all the games I installed were tar gz or bz2. I recall two games off the top of my head: 1. astromenace 2. red eclipse where did the games go? where does software installed by tar usually go? they must be somewhere in the directory tree. logic would suggest that if I was able to find these two games, I would probably also be able to…

For a while now we've been getting innumerable tips about a supposed 13-inch iPad Pro — with stylus no less — being "leaked" on Apple.com as part of their most recent supplier responsibility report. We've gotten a dozen or so today alone. Here's the thing: Apple doesn't leak unannounced products. The odds of a new iPad appearing in a throwaway graphic — when no event is even in sight — is as close to absolute zero as the temperature in deep space. What you're looking at above is just the lid assembly of a MacBook and a markup tool. Nothing less and certainly nothing more. We could go on and on about the Apple logo placement, the translucency rather than etching, the de…

A German court has dismissed a €1.57 billion ($2.15 billion) patent-infringment case against Apple from IPCom GmbH, a patent-holding company. The patents at issue describe technology for giving priority access to certain mobile on a cellular network, for instance, during emergancies that might congest cell traffic. IPCom GmbH says it was surprised by the ruling, and plans to appeal. During the case, the arguments from either side came down to how many bits where used when communicating with the cellular network, according to the Wall Street Journal: Apple's lawyers argued that the mobile communications standard has eight levels of network access priority rights for …

Last week the new Galaxy S5 was introduced and, along with it, Samsung's take on the fingerprint identity sensor. Apple, of course, introduced the Touch ID fingerprint identity scanner alongside the iPhone 5s back in September of 2013. From launch, Touch ID received considerable scrutiny over not only its implications but its implementation as well, and not only by the media, but by security researchers and the U.S. government. So, roughly 3 nano-seconds after the Galaxy S5 was swiped on stage, Apple enthusiasts began wondering out loud just when exactly that same scrutiny and attention would hit Samsung. Some felt it wouldn't and that that was unfair. Others felt it woul…

One of my computers gives me the message "This device can perform faster. This USB device can perform faster if connected to a Hi speed USB 2.0 port. Clich here for a list of available ports" (Compaq Presario with Windows XP/SP3) It says this every time without fail when I connect a USB device to it. It does not matter what the device is: a flash drive, an eternal HD, a printer, a camera, etc. How do solve this problem ? (and I don't mean suppress the warning message) The computer has only USB 2.0 ports (m/b spec http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00019945&lc=en&cc=uk&dlc=en) It has been going a long time now, but it has st…

Hello, I have two PCs which I bought brand new in Oct. 2005, a HP Multimedia Centre and CISNET Windows XP Home edition both with Windows XP. They worked well, with no major problem. A few days ago, the hard-drive in the HP PC let me down completely and my tech guy took the hard-drive out from the CISNET PC and installed in the HP because the CISNET PC has a burnt video card for which I cannot find the right replacement. (I kept the CISNET PC over the past 2 years thinking I shall need its spare parts. Now that time came: I am using its hard-drive). I now have Windows XP Home Edition SP2 in my HP PC but I cannot upgrade to SP3 which is the version o…

Hi Noob here so sorry if I miss important details. I suddenly seem to be unable to use ctrl-click or shift-click to select multiple items. I can do ctrl-A to select all, and I can press shift + down arrow to select just not using the mouse. This is on a work computer so I have very few administrative rights. We use Windows Server 2008 R2 and office 2010 and access it through a citrix application. Any ideas what setting I have somehow turned on or off without meaning to? Thanks Fran Continue reading...

Hi! I have an Inspiron 5721 with intel core i7 and the preinstalled windows 8 copy. Since I bought it I´ve had issues with the explorer process, because when I open any foler, it says it's empty, and after 5 or 10 minutes, the folder loads and the files appears, but also maybe they don't appear and the explorer.exe just crash and restart. The problem appears for a long term of time (days, weeks), suddenly everything is ok and folders and files appear normally, but then the issue come back. I've refreshed the pc like 5 or 6 times, sometimes it works, other times it doesn't, and also I've tried updating the system to windows 8.1 but it hasn't worked. Any idea what co…
