I am trying to do a clean install of Windows 8 in legacy bios mode. I have just reformated my HDD but I cannot install Windows 8 to the newly formated partition - the error message is "Windows can't be installed on this drive. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style". I have also tried deleting the partition and installing it to the unformted drive but I get the same error. So I have a Microsoft Account that I use for my Xbox. And when I got my Windows 8 laptop it prompted me to use an account, so i'm using my Google account. However, I want my Xbox/Microsoft account to merge with my Google account. Essentially I want to add my Google account as an Alias for my Windows account. However, when I try to add an alias it says: "The email address is already taken. Please choose another one". I'm assuming this is because my Google account already has a Microsoft Account attached to it. Do I have to close my Account attached to my Gmail account or is there any way of merging them? Please help me as i recently got my acer laptop with windows 8 installed. Some times it connects to my wireless network and most times it doesn't. It keeps going off now and again. I have downloaded PES2014 on my Windows7 Acer Aspire 5734Z laptop only to find that the application only goes to 'Loading Now-Game Tips'. I am unable to find a Main Menu, Play or Settings anywhere on the screen. The files have not been corrupted and I have DirectX 11 driver installed. I have a log entry showing that HOTFIX.exe called a restart. I've checked the PC and there does not seem to be evidence of the infamous hotfix virus. So I started checking into Windows updates. The auto updates on the machine are turned configured to automatically download but not install without user approval. The entries at 8:13 shows the update service did find updates. So I'm wondering if the update are applying and restarting anyway. When I look at Control Panel>Windows Updates however, it tells me the last updates were installed almost a week prior. Hello, I have an acer aspire, and I have malware bytes as an anti-virus program. Now, I completed a routine virus scan and found 4 PUP's which I didn't think were a problem. As usual you have to re-start your computer so they can remove them. Now the computer turned on fine, but when I signed in to get into the desktop its said preparing your desktop for about two minutes when it usually says welcome. Then it got into my desktop, it had deleted my files and stuck them in a separate file in my acer, users file. One of my PCs picked up the "Windows Antivirus Helper" malware this morning. The PC was running Microsoft Security Essentials, which did not identify / stop the malware from getting installed. Hello Everyone, So I am new to these forms so if Im posting incorrectly like on the wrong page or something sorry about that and let me know lol. I am having a problem with Linux Mint in general. Well, more of a problem with motherboard support. When I try to boot to the live DVD it comes up to the desktop with all drivers pretty much installed except for the mouse and keyboard drivers. Hi, probably this is too easy but i just started playing around with awk and can't figure this out. Say I have a file with these two lines each split in columns: A S D M A R W D I want awk to print "right answer" if for example the third element in the first line matches the fourth element in the second line, as is the case for letter "D". Hello Linuxforums, I have got a Problem. My Apache2 is taking 100% of my CPU without any users. There are two processes (PIDs) which are taking 2 x 50% CPU constantly. I tried to kill them but with no success, they are back in a few seconds. It really slows down my Website to 10-20 seconds load time. Hello everyone. I am having two problems. Firstly, I am having an issue with the desktop being too big, all the icons are off the screen and I can't click on any of them. I can't change the resolution on my monitor. I have had this same problem with Ubuntu 13.04 and OpenSuse 13 and Mint 16. My second problem is if I am able to open up a window I cannot use my mouse to click on any folders, I am only able to use the keyboard to do it. I have an LG 24 inch monitor and I am running on an I7 3.06GHZ proc, I put the OS's on an Intel 180GB SSD and I have 16GB of RAM and my mouse is an Cyborg R.A.T 7 mouse. Any help is much appreciated. I somehow managed to install a few games. when I am finished installing them the games tend to start automatically, then I install another. I just assumed that each game would place an icon somewhere in the application menu. it did not. all the games I installed were tar gz or bz2. A German court has dismissed a €1.57 billion ($2.15 billion) patent-infringment case against Apple from IPCom GmbH, a patent-holding company.
