The Glacier Case for iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s by Swiss-Case is a minimalistic case that offers moderate protection without adding a ton of bulk. It's made out of a sturdy silicon and plastic combination that feels and looks high quality. But how does it hold up after a bit of day to day use? Let's find out! I used the Glacier Case on my iPhone 5s on and off for a few weeks now and I'm pleased to report that it has held up extremely well. My iPhone is also in one piece so that's always a plus. One of the things I like the most this style of case is that it's easy to get on and off. Simply pull at an edge and it pops right off. One thing I've always been careful of …

While it's much faster and easier to install iOS 7.1 using the on-device Software Update if you backup using iTunes or simply have problems doing an over-the-air install, you can also update using iTunes. How to update to iOS 7.1 using iTunes and a USB cable Back up your device to either iCloud or iTunes before performing any kind of update. Make sure you're on the latest version of iTunes. Go to About and then Check for Updates or visit Apple.com. Launch iTunes on your Mac or PC. Plug in your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad. Once your computer recognizes it, click on the Summary tab if you aren't already there. Under the iPhone section, click on Check for Updat…

iOS 7.1 is here and the quickest, easiest way to update on-device and over-the-air (OTA) using the Software Update built into Settings. You need to be on Wi-Fi, be plugged in or have more than half your battery life remaining, and you need sufficient storage space left on your device to download the update, but if all those things are true, you'll be up and running the new version of iOS as fast the internet allows. If you have any problems or just want to do it old-school style, you can also update to iOS 7.1 using iTunes. Running out of storage space on your iPhone or iPad? Here's how to fix it! How to update to iOS 7 OTA Tap on Settings from the Home screen …

To go along with the release of iOS 7.1, Apple has released an update for the Apple TV. Version 6.1 allows users to hide unwanted channel icons from the main screen. Previously, you would need to navigate to Settings, then go through the list of available content sources and hide them. Now, all you need to do is highlight an icon on the screen, then press and hold the select button until the icons start to jiggle. Select the channel you want to hide, then hit the Play/Pause button to bring up the options, then press Hide. To undo this, simply go to Settings > Main Menu, then select the desired channel. If you have your Apple TV set to update automatically, then y…

Apple on Monday released iOS 7.1 . The new version is available immediately as an over the air (OTA) download. CarPlay, enhancements to Siri and iTunes Radio, and other changes have been made in the new release - including some performance improvement for long-suffering iPhone 4 users. Apple officially unveiled CarPlay at the Geneva Motor Show last week. While the new technology won't be accessible until auto manufacturers roll out new models later this year, iOS 7.1 adds CarPlay support. CarPlay enables you to control Music, Maps, Messages, and select third-party apps using your car's center console display or through voice commands using Siri. Also new in this rel…

Hi, My laptop developed a major issue yesterday which resulted in my husband having to spend around 6-7 hours repairing the installation. I now want to create a back up to prevent us ever having to go through the same ordeal again but need some advice, please. I'm running XP home edition so the back up wizard isn't installed as standard. I understand that I can use my installation disc to install it manually. However, my installation disc only contains service pack 2. My laptop has service pack 3 installed (installing this alone took over an hour and a half last night). I'm concerned that, if I try to install the backup wizard from my SP2 disc, it m…

With the end of support for XP now just a month away, Microsoft recently announced a new way to help users migrate from XP to Windows 7 or Windows 8: Laplink's PCMover Express. Windows Easy Transfer -- which has been Microsoft's solution for years -- is still available. As far as I know, WET also works from XP to 8, although all of the links that claim to explain how to move data from XP to 8 (such as the links on this page) point to "How to use SkyDrive OneDrive" rather than WET. So what's the difference between PCMover Express and WET (I realize that the not-free PCMover Pro purports to move programs as well as data)? If people ask how they should …

Hi. I'm helping my friend out who has a problem with his computer running Windows 8. It started with his computer freezing up and he had to reboot it. After rebooting, he was met only by a black screen for about 30 minutes followed by a flashin BSOD (the smiley one). No error code. I made a bootable USB drive with Windows 8 on it, downloaded from Microsoft's website. After booting from it, I'm presented by the Windows 8 logo, a spinning circle, but then it goes black, and after 5-30 minutes I'm get the same BSOD. I've tried disabling everything that I can in BIOS. The BIOS detects all hardware in the computer. The computer is a laptop. ASUS X401a. I hope…

I have a Windows 8 laptop that I shared with my daughter. We had separate user accounts. Mine was an administrator account, hers was not. I recently bought her her own laptop and attempted to delete her account on my laptop. I did so by going to user accounts in Control Panel and deleting it. The delete process worked but left behind her user account folder (c:\users\account_name). I attempted to delete it but was told I needed permission from Administrators to perform that function even though mine was an administrator account. I followed the instructions in kb2623670 and that didn't help. I noticed the folder was marked as read only. When I attempted to unmark it I was …

after reinstalling win 7, I can not leave the previous home group The option is NOT on the screen. This reinstall was made necessary when I got a virus and when I finally got to putting in things to the network options....etc,etc,etc. I was tired and having problems with my MS so I wasn't thinking clearly. I know how to set things up, however, I must first leave the home group that my computer found on the network. The instructions on your website down't work because leave the home group is NOT an option anywhere. I am only given the option to joing a home group, not leave.
