I have legitimate copies of both. I'm getting \$windows.~bt\windows\system32\winload.efi status 0xc000000f when I start up Windows 8. I'm assuming that this error is what is stopping me from installing Windows 7. I have run an error check on my OS partition, and every other partition just in case. Nothing. SO.. my question is. What do I do. I really have had a bad time with Windows 8. Please help. Okay, I found this game, so i bought it. It needed to be downloaded and this problem is with every other .exe or .rar file i open up. So, I click download. Then it pops up saying "Open" Or "Save", So i click "Open". After that it pops up with internet explorer in the blink of an eye it disappears. I constantly click open and it just comes up and disappears. I went into my file explorer and tried to extract it but it doesn't give that option. Every time Windows 8 boots, the input is set to Hiragana as default. I've used the Japanese versions of Windows 98, XP and 7 and the default input has always been Half-Width Alphanumeric. Now, God knows why, it seems to be locked in Hiragana and I need Half-Width Alphanumeric to be the default setting since it's what I use the most. I've read some sites suggesting to go to the registry and change a value. The value is located in: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\IME\15.0\IMEJP\MSIME And the value is: option3 (REG_DWORD) According to these sites, changing the value from 0 to D, forces the input to Half-Width Alphanumeric. I make extensive use of W7 XP Mode to run important old DOS programs which have no more modern equivalent. They have no need for online access. If I remove all networking access from the virtual machine (by setting all network adapters to "not connected"), will this continue to provide protection from malware to my XP subsystems after support is withdrawn next month? Windows explorer (Not internet explorer) will refuse to open and I have no idea why. It gives me a message saying: C:\Windows\explorer.exe Operation did not complete successfully because the file contains a virus. I have done a full scan with MalwareBytes Anti-Malware and Microsoft Security Essentials, as well as specifically scanning C:\Windows\ in it's entirety and found no virus. I believe there may be some sort of problem with my windows explorer, not allowing it to run. However I can still open files and folders with Windows Explorer. It is merely explorer.exe can not run. OS W_8.1 with CLASSIC SHELL IE_11. My IE got so infected that I am unable to use it. I set Home Page to be about:blank but it keeps opening <Link to possible infected website removed>. In add-ons list there is a ThinkniceCoLtd one impossible to get ridden of. The worst is that the browser is not able to load a page without stopping and asking for recovering. I thaugth on uninstalling IE and reinstalling it afterwards, but it is not on Programs & Features list. I tried to download IE_11 but it is not avaiable because it does part of the OS. hey, yesterday there was a power failure at my house and when i turn on my desktop, i had problems with user permissions on linux. I restarted linux and then, while booting, it gave me that error described on the title. I've looked for some tutorials in order to fix this problem, but none of them could work. I have some troubles about booting through USB or CD because my BIOS Setup doesn't have an option to boot via USB and i don't have access to my boot manager now and my CD-ROM driver is not working properly.
