The real time scanning feature of MS Essentials lacks the ability to view what it is actually scanned. A tool or adding this feature to MS Essential would be nice. I have seen MS Security Essentials eat up CPU while performing real time scans. It would help to know what it is scanning at the time when it is using lots of CPU. This is for the real time scanner. Not the full scan feature that already shows what is being scanned. Maybe I am missing something, I know with McAfee Total Defense, the real time scanner has a monitor to show what is being scanned in real time. Similar feature in MS Security Essentials would be good for troubleshooting. Continue r…

My computer is full of virus. So I did a back to factory restore. When I booted up, same thing. I still had the virus, malware, ect. I though a restore would over wright everything. I guess not. So I take it to the shop. They say whats the password, I give it to them, and will pick it up later. That show they are not going to do a restore. So just how do you get rid of a virus. Or was taking to the shop my answer. Thank You Continue reading...

Apparently I cannot upgrade from Fedora 15 to Fedora 20 using fedup, so I've decided to install Fedora 20 from Live USB. The problem is the single physical hd is partitioned as shown here, with EXT4 boot partition and an LVM2 partition that has 0 B of unused space. How can I repartition this hard drive without erasing data? Thanks for your help. Attached Images Screenshot-1.jpg (11.7 KB) Continue reading...

A quick heads up for Brits picking up a new Google Chromecast; the BBC iPlayer app you already have is all set and ready to go. It looks like the BBC built Chromecast support into an earlier update of the app – the same applies on Android, too – so once you have the dongle connected to your TV there's very little you need to do. It may take a minute or so, or even a relaunch of the app to kick it into gear. When it's ready to go you'll see the standard Chromecast logo along top of the app. To cast your content you need to first connect the app by tapping on the Chromecast logo and selecting which you want to pair to. After that just go ahead and choose what you want to…

Gear Jack: Black Hole is an upcoming endless runner we got to check out at GDC 2014. In this Crescent Moon title, we take control of an adorable little robot and control his leaps so he doesn't get maimed by the various dangers peppered throughout the level. While the character is usually plowing onwards at breakneck speeds, you've got to make sure he slows things down and tiptoes when traversing the lairs of especially bad nasties. Besides that, players can also shrink the hero down into a ball to fit into small areas, not unlike sci-fi heroine Samus. Along the way, players collect gears which can be spent on various character upgrades and power-ups. It's a cute littl…

One of the less conventional games we saw at GDC 2014 was The Deer God from Crescent Moon Games. In it you lead a poor life as a hunter, and as the laws of karma dictate, you're zapped into the body of a deer until you find a way to appease the dreaded and mysterious Deer God. The game is fairly bare-bones for now, so the gameplay itself is little more than exploratory platforming, but the graphics style is fantastic. It takes the harsh pixellation of Sword & Sworcery and adds conversely modern 3D models and foregrounds. I gotta say, mating with a doe and respawning as its offsring is one of the most interesting save point mechanics I've seen, well, ever. Keep an e…

2-Bit Cowboy is an absolutely charming platforming game with original Game Boy aesthetics and a plethora of fetch quests to enjoy. Crescent Moon Games showed us the ropes at GDC 2014, and it's easy to see how this game could become habit-forming. Players leap, swim, and dash their way through a monochromatic western paradise and pick up odd jobs. These can range from shooting scorpions to gathering coins to polishing off ne'er-do-well bandits. It eventually gets to the point where very nearly every object you interact with is a part of a mission. The platforming action seems really well polished, and there are certain undeniably cute parts about 2-Bit Cowboy. I mean, h…

After recent speculation, Google's Chromecast has finally broken free of U.S. exclusivity and is now officially available in Canada and 10 countries across Europe. Pricing is similar to that of the U.S. Chromecast costing £30 in the UK and $39 in Canada, so it's great to see we haven't been charged a premium. The 10 European countries getting Chromecast are Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the UK. Availability wise, hit up your local Google Play Store right now in one of those lucky 11 and you should see it front and center in the "Devices" area of the store. Other retailers will also be picking it up, including Amazon, C…

Hi, I am looking for an old version of windows software that helps you to easily change aspect ratio and formats. I forgot the name of it. It is not Windows Movie Maker or Windows Media Player. It was a special and specific download to make sure that for example a YouTube upload would be indeed 16:9 instead 4:3. With AVI (made with WMM) it can be difficult to get the right aspect ratio. I think it has something to do with letterbox..... I hope someone recalls the name of this software. Maybe there is an old download available, and if there isn't I am curious if somebody knows this sofware. It was a download at the Windows download center. I think maybe 5 years old??? …

I am running XP and have been unable to properly install updates for some time now. I don't know if the two are related. Is there a way to correct this issue? Or can they just be deleted? Thank you. My wireless connection to the internet stopped working when I converted from ATT DSL to ATT Uverse. My laptop can see the network and says that I am connected with all the "bars" green. However, when I try to connect to the internet I have one of two things happen. Either I get a long delay which ends with the message that I can not connect with the network. Or - I can connect to the internet for a very short period of time - a portion of a screen appears and then locks up. I have entered the security codes multiple times times to assure accuracy. How do I resolve this issue? Continue reading...
