Security Essentials recognizes them ask to send to Mirosoft a report for further investigation then ask me to reboot and over and over repeats the cycle. Apparently when the virus is deleted it automatically copies itself back and restarts itself. In task manager I have stopped the process - it restarts over and over and over again. I have seen this before - delete it and it reappears, delete it and it reappears. Antimaleware byte took care of it but definition are outdated and right now I am low on funds for the premiem version I run 7 professional on an i5. Obviously Security Essentials is going through the same iteration, detect - clean …

You will find following message in your inbox from infoaxe.net or fliporamail.com. If you are getting such emails, don’t click on any Links or Buttons. Technically this isn’t exactly a virus or scam or information phishing scheme, it sure seems like Search engine hijacker. Flip, Flipora, Filporamail and Infoaxe are all the same company. The service they apparently offer is to track your web browsing habits and suggest ads and search results and other websites based on what sites you visit. It is likevoluntarily signing up to have spyware or malware on your computer. The worst thing about this “service” is that when you sign up you directly give them access to your …

I've got some virus on my laptop that just won't go away. I had the Geek Squad at Best Buy remove it, but after 1 week it came back again. Just about tried everything I read on this forum. Planning on installing Windows 8.1. Will installing the new operating system eradicate the virus? My data is already backed up. Should I reset my windows registry? Should I reformat my hard drive? my computer keeps showing that it is virtually unprotected even after I run scan. this is showing up now every time I turn my computer on. I have run several checks and trouble shoots, but everything says I'm updated, ect. I am getting tired of this and have considered uninstalling this and finding something else. if someone knows how I can get this to stop I would be very appriciative. I don't want to have to spend an hour or more trying to fix this every time I turn my computer on. any ideas? [Moved from Community Participation] Continue reading...

Hello, I posted earlier stating that I was unable to start my httpd service. That was solved, thanks in part to a reply that prompted me to think along a different path (see previous [sOLVED] post by me). I have now started Apache on my Fedora 19 Linux box. I tried accessing the index.html page using both Chrome and Internet Explorer 11. Both reported that they can't access or find the page. Questions: How do I determine where Apache is retrieving the index.html page? How do I determine the version of Apache (httpd) I'm using? I know it's 2.4.x. I just want to know what the ".x" is. Let me know if posting my httpd.conf will help in figuring this …

Just wonder if any Android tablet can be switched over to Ubuntu Touch or other "normal" Linux touch based Distro or will it only work on certain tablets? I'd like to try and find an inexpensive tablet to use to surf the web, check e-mail, use my OBD II program(so it'll need Bluetooth) and do other little computer jobs without having to pull out the ol' laptop all the time. So would some of these cheap tablets be able to run a real Linux Distro(Yes, I know Android IS Linux but it's just not what I want in my tablet) or do I need certain specs for it to work properly. I wanted to research this out a bit before I buy something that won't work or make a wrong choice. Tha…

When attempting to start Apache on my Fedora 19 Linux box, I use: Code: apachectl start I then get the following error message: Code: syntax error on line 56 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf: syntax error on line 1 of /etc/httpd/conf.modules.d/00-lua.conf: cannot load modules/mod_lua.so into server: /etc/httpd/modules/mod.lua.so: undefined symbol: apr_bcrypt_encode I was able to determine that httpd.conf was written correctly (I never altered it) and that 00-lua.conf looks correct as well. I was not able to look inside the mod_lua.so file (it looks binary). What is in this file that causes this error message and what can I do to fix this? Continue reading...

There are a few linux machines in my company which have their /home and /home/scans/data directory mapped from the nfs server. Therefore I believe the permissions of directories on these linux machines will be inherited from the nfs server too? I need to access the /home/scans/data directory in one of the Linux machines, and make changes in other folders/files in it. Unfortunately, in the linux machine, I can't even do an ls -la from /home/scans : Code: lychee:/home/scans# ls -la ls: cannot open directory .: Permission denied lychee:/home/scans# To check the permissions of /home/scans : Code: lychee:/home/scans# ls -ld /home/scans drwxr-x--x 10 root n…

Hello. some days ago, I moved from Windows 7 to Ubuntu. At this point, I found Ubuntu to habe many, many unbearable bugs (details at the end), so I want to move to another distro. -It should be a mainstream distro, so it haves wide support, and is easy to find solutions with google, tapping other users experience. -It needs to be stable. -Newbie friendly. Maybe Windows user friendly. -I prefer doing anything with GUI, if possible, including mounting partitions. -Needs to have a large amount of compatible installation packages. GUI for installation and removal is preferred. -Should be easy to install, with GUI. But I want to control the partitions it uses (size …

Sigils: Battle for Raios was being shown off at GDC 2014, and we took a gander at the strategic fantasy combat it had to offer. Players party up in live synchronous multiplayer matches and take on waves of fantastic AI enemies. Players can take on one of what looks like dozens of unique animal-based characters, level up, and specialize as they see fit. The controls are fairly straightforward, with simple taps to move your character around the battlefield, but abilities are dependent on range, area of effect, and cooldown timers. Players take on traditional RPG roles, like healer, DPS, and tank. Since it's a freemium title, you can fast-track with in-app purchases, or have…

The fine folks behind Whale Trail are making a decidedly different puzzle game, and we got to take a look at the Game Developer Conference. Ustwo's Monument Valley has players guide a hapless girl through a twisted maze of Escherian proportions. Optical illusions and impossible architecture are nothing new, but when put into mobile game where you can interact with things that straight-up can't physically exist, you're left with an entirely new sensation. Besides the mind-bending puzzles, a lot of detail has been put into the game's visuals. One of the devs said that they wanted every screen to look good enough to print and put up on your wall, and from what I've seen, …

Leave a comment listing the top FIVE features YOU want to see in iOS 8! We'll tally them all up and post the results! The iOS 8 rumors are running hot and heavy these days, what with everything from Healthbook to improved Maps with transit and indoor directions to a separate iTunes Radio app to TextEdit and Preview apps to inter-app communication, to — you get the idea. A lot of the excitement is because iOS 7 was such a major re-imagining of what a mobile operating system could and should be and iOS 7.1 gave us our first look at that all polished up. It was a herculean task by everyone at Apple but, once done, it opens the door on so many new and great possibilitie…

When iOS 7.1 dropped last week, we ran a quick poll to capture the approach of the iMore readership to snagging the update. Turns out there was an overwhelming result showing that a whopping 74% of you jumped on iOS 7.1 as soon as it dropped! There are several different thought processes when any new build of iOS drops, be it a major update or a point bump. Some are all over it, getting it as soon as humanly possible. Others are more cautious, some don't update at all and then there's the Jailbreak crowd. We saw a good spread of folks across each different option, but combined answers for "No" and "Waiting on more feedback" only accounted for just over 5% of the vote. …

I'm running Windows XP. A week or so ago while logging in to my account, the program Sonic Record Now kept wanting to connect to update. However, when the Sonic Update Manger was trying to "gather the data" it gave an error that the network is not working (I'm not on a network). Anyway, I got feed up with this and tried to delete the program under the XP Programs Add/Remove screen. The program is there, but when you click on it, it will not bring up the screen so you can delete it. So I went under Programs on the C:\ drive and deleted the entire program folder and did a restart. No luck. The Sonic program still tries to use the its Update Manager. I also tried to …

Original title: Disappearing Icons This has been going on since I first upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 and now it persists in a fresh install of Windows 8.1 I will save something to my desktop, close all my programs and get ready to open another program and *BAM* what I just saved on my desktop is missing, so I have to go back through my myriad of programs and either find or recreate the file that just disappeared so that I can save it again for modification in another program. And this isn't even fresh stuff, it happens with old stuff as well. I installed LOTRO about three months ago, it was running fine until today. The shortcut for LOTRO is missing, an…
