Hi there, lately my computer has been blue screening at a more rapid rate with bccodes 116 and 7a being the two error codes I receive upon relaunch. The blue screens seem to only happen whenever I am playing Counter Strike on my computer and never at any other point whether I'm playing another game or working on school/browsing internet. I have a 1 TB HDD in which Windows is installed and booted from and I have a 128gb SSD as well. If there's any extra info I can provide to help make this clearer and fix this issue I'll be happy to oblige. Thank you. Continue reading...

I'm trying to cover our XP desktops until we can afford to get new computers, and want to know what I need to get to keep the computers safe besides a virus checker, as MSE is going by the wayside also. Will I need firewall protection, a spam blocker, and a privacy protection also? Or will those I have on the computer now continue to do their job? Getting new computers will take a while because we simply do not have the money as of yet and won't for at least six months to a year to buy two new PCs. One new PC we could afford in about six months, but not two -- our funds at the moment are needed for medical reasons (travel for my cancer treatments, mostly) so I nee…

Hi, I am running Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit, both on a desktop PC and on a Surface tablet. On both systems, I have 'Real Time Protection' enabled on Windows Defender, and I always install all MS Updates as soon as they're available, plus all my 3rd party software is fully patched too. Periodically (say once every 2 to 4 weeks) I manually run a "full scan" in Windows Defender. The past few months, these full scans keep coming up detecting malware (I've had a "GamaRue worm" a couple of times, and a password stealer trojan another time...) My question is: if Windows Defender's full scan is able to find and neutralise this malware, then how did its real time …

Dear Experts, after the upgrade I only got "remote side closed the connection" on my client trying to connect in a browser via "Ip-adr.: 5801" although I followed closely my installation notes from the old installation (V12.2). In a thread I found the hint to remove the "-once" from the server attributes in /etc/xinetd.d/vnc (which I attach). After this I get the "Suse chameleon" but no login even after waiting really a long time. Since I found in this vnc the port = 5901 I tried that also but this only yields a string (app. 10 char., do not have it now) on my client screen nothing else. What could I have missed ? BR George Attached Files vnc.txt (1.…

Tried to log into the Jupiter Broadcasting show today (Linux Action Show) with Pidgin so I could get into chat and got this: Lost connection with server: Bad file descriptor Figured it might be them so I tried two other IRC chat rooms that I hang out in and got the same thing. It's like Pidgin(or any other chat client) can access the router to get things hooked up. I even tried going to a Live USB of Zorin and installing Pidgin to see if maybe it's my Kali install that's borked but still didn't work. No clue as to what's going on here, never had this problem before. Pidgin has always worked well for me but for some reason it's just not. What could be the probl…

Is anyone on the board doing anything with Rust? The Rust Programming Language It seems this language in development is positioning itself as a systems language. I've seen one project where they developed a minimal Linux kernel module with it. It hasn't reached a 1.0 release but seems close. It should be interesting to see what, if anything, comes of it. A forum post on Chinese language site Weiphone.com offers up tantalizing details on Apple's next round of MacBooks. The comments are attributed to an author with a credible track record of breaking leaks and photos for MacBook laptops in the past, according to MacRumors.com. The poster reports that MacBook Air updates are coming soon, with MacBook Pro updates expected later this year. That's consistent with what happened last year: Apple updated the MacBook Air at WWDC, but waited until the fall to introduce updated MacBook Pros. A new 12-inch MacBook is in the works, according to the poster. The computer eschews fans and comes with a new trackpad design that doesn'…

It's possibly the last thing we'd expect to happen, but a new report suggests that Apple is looking at the possibility of launching the iTunes Store on Android. Yes, Android. It all stems from the folks at Billboard, who claim Apple is talking to the record labels about the plans and more: Apple has opened exploratory talks with senior label executives about the possibility of launching an on-demand streaming service that would rival Spotify and Beats Music, according to three people familiar with the talks. Apple is also thinking about adding an iTunes App for Android phones, the Google rival that has been growing faster than the iPhone, these sources said. Of…
