We use a windows XP pro or & pro machine as a print controller for a large format printer. The shared driver requires SNMP to function properly and the controller PC functions as a Print server with a shared printer. All the computers have always had the same computer name and are all configured exactly the same. When a controller fails we simply swap it with another and the customer is back up and running. For the last month or 2 we have had a problem when changing the controler pc the clients cannot connect and get an "SNMP Server unavailable" error. I'm using an LG GH24NS70 SCSI CD/DVD drive on Windows XP OS (I intend to update to Vista, as soon as I can fix the CD-ROM.). Although Windows Explorer sees the drive and Device Manager correctly identifies it, it will not read any CD or DVD. Device Manager states it is working properly, using the following drivers: cdrom.sys, ElbyCDFL.sys, GEARAspiWDM.sys, imapi.sys, redbook.sys and storprop.dll. All but the last of these are located in the system32\drivers folder. The .dll is in system32 folder. I've tried Updating the Driver, but Windows reports it can't find a better file. Signed on this morning and rather than go straight to the usual WIndows Screen with lots of stuff on I saw the rolling dots with "preparing windows displayed. I then had a very reduced opening screen with about half a dozen apps (?) when I went to my desktop all my folders, files and applications had gone. What has happened and how can I get them all back. Hi, Any suggestions would be really great! In normal mode, during any process, my laptop freezes.
