To All, I have supported Microsoft from the beginning and defended my loyalty when challenged my Apple users. I always trust that the corporate leaders would do the right thing. Now here I sit with XP Pro with no place to go and my Apple friends our smiling now! So my question is why has Microsoft taken the path of turning their back on a loyal customer base world wide? No options or incentives offered other than paying full retail for a new operating. I believe the fallout will exceeded the corporate leaders expectations. I wonder how many will migrate to Apple when the dust settles? Unless Microsoft provides some incentive other than just scaring me int…

Hello, I successfully refreshed my windows 8.1 os, since my pc was performing poorly probably due to virus. Then i deleted the windows.old folder since it was taking an enormous amount of HDD space after which i started experiencing some lagging. So i figured i must have deleted something important from the windows.old folder. i tried refreshing the os again, and during the process, i had power interrupt, causing the process to be terminated halfway. when i rebooted my pc, i noticed i couldn't not games that were working well prior to the first refreshing. so i tried refreshing and resetting, both giving error, cannot be refreshed nor reset. i upgraded back to window…

Hi. I picked up up a second hand laptop yesterday running windows 8 and I've been trying to get it all updated. I've run into some problems. First off, it was second hand so has no restore disks. Or optical drive at all for that matter (it's a Samsung ultra book type.) I tried to do the 8.1 update today which unfortunately failed as I hadn't seen I'd not switched the power on on the wall so it powered down midway. This then led to it trying to restore the previous version of windows which didn't work. It then asked to use a restore point but hung half way through that too. I did a holding the power button down reset and that brought it back to life, exce…

I have read over and over again about 1280x1024 resolution, but this is absolutely not an option. Machines run two applications that are designed specifically for 1024x768, screen scraping, font size, tabs, etc... the list is too long. This is happening on a variety of video card platforms, NVidia 8400GS, onboard Intel HD2000, ATI 6350, and another NVidia card that I neglected to get the model of but is considerably older than the 8400GS. Clear type has no affect. Disabling hardware virtualization in the BIOS made a small improvement. Disabling Aero features didn't help. Yes it does look fine on 1280x1024, but again, this will not work for these …

    1) The "Cypress" update problem has NOT been solved. The links to the cypress.com web page lead to stuff that appears to be intended for developers. Examining (from the control panel) the list of installed software AND the list of updates goes nowhere. The cypress update is NOT on those lists. 2) It appears that I have two profiles on "Microsoft Answers". One of them has the username *** Email address is removed for privacy ***. The other has the username *** Email address is removed for privacy ***. I can sign on with either one; but using the first one (the oldest) and then clicking on the username, I get a list of questions I asked in the past, which ends with s…

Hi guys. I recently did a full scan of my system with the Microsoft Safety Scanner. (It takes over 3 hours!). It found a virus called exploit!win32/pdfjsc.akz. It then said it only did a "Partial Removal". The next day I scanned my system again and it came up again as listed as "Partial Removal". When I did a fullscan with my McAfee nothing even turned up and it said my computer was clean. But then again a fullscan from McAfee scans just over 300,000 files while the Microsoft Safety Scanner scans over 1,000,000 files giving my system a more through scan. So it seems to be finding this virus when my McAfee can't. What I don't understand is why the Microsoft Safety S…

I keep getting these double lined, colored, bolded words randomly and if I hover over them, an add pops up. They all have search assist on them. I researched on how to get rid of this but all the ways it said to get rid of it were to go into the control panel, then to uninstall programs, but I could never find it there. I also checked in my chrome extensions thing and I didn't see it. Also, whenever i'm on a webpage, it keeps refreshing every few seconds and at the bottom of the screen, there's all these links to some sketchy sounding websites. My laptop is windows 7 on chrome. Any help would be appreciated. Continue reading...

Aix RHEL Centos Exchange Centos is configured to send mail via Exchange server at a hosted location by use of msmtp (it replaced sendmail all together on this box). Hello all, I currently have a BeagleBone Black that I'm using for a project. It is controlling a robot and some sensors. My only issue at the moment is that the program I have created in C doesn't function unless I explicitly tell it to. I want the program to run on startup with no login since it will be an embedded device. I have looked up tutorials online, but unfortunately the program does not work on start up. I also need it to work on start up. Tutorials online are not as in depth as I'd like them to be so if someone could post up how to do it in depth I'd appreciate it. Thanks Continue reading...

UpTo is a new kind of calendar for iOS that combines your personal and business schedules together in an incredibly unique way. Need to remember that board meeting tomorrow but also don't want to forget to check in on baseball scores? No problem. UpTo can keep you on task while letting you check in on personal things that are still important to you, when you have time. All of us have lives outside of our jobs. Unfortunately, most calendar apps are set up to manage work, not play. Unless of course you take special care to import the things that are important to you. Even then, hiding and unhiding items gets messy. Luckily, this is exactly the kind of problem UpTo aims t…
