I have tried reading all the relevant posts and scoured the earth for this solution, if someone could help I'd appreciate it. A dear friend passed away and I was given her PC - a fast XP with SP3 which (being elderly) she only used for web & emails. Her account was "Judi". I had noticed sometime ago that on her logon screen, that there was another user called "Fiona" (she told me an old work collegue who probably stayed with her). Now a friend in Lions needed a PC as his very elderly HP had failed completely fortunately I managed to copy his files before he disposed of it - I offered this newer PC to him after I "set it up" for him. I set a new ac…

My computer is in Windows xp professional os environment. When my dvd r/w stopped working, I installed the new one. And it worked for a while But now, it won't burn the videos. In my computer, it shows as DVD-Ram not R/W. I am guessing that maybe it has to do with corrupt registry? Can anyone help me that my computer recognize the drive correctly. Thanks in advance for any help. Continue reading...

I have just installed the latest update for Windows 8 for my Laptop. When I restarted afterwards my Desktop icons were missing and the screen kept flashing blue every 4/5 seconds. I was also unable to open any of the programs located on the Bottom taskbar and they would also disappear every time the screen flashed blue. I restarted the Laptop twice and while my desktop icons returned the screen-flashing problem was persisting. Does anyone know what might be causing this because it has made my laptop unusable and I need it for stuff. Thanks Continue reading...

I am currently trying to log my live account into the windows mail app or any other app that needs a live account, but it keeps saying I need to fix a few things on my account, when I click "fix it", I go to IE and it says my account is missing key info where I have already added every bit of info onto my account and when I hit I agree to the terms and conditions, one of two pages come up, either that the web address is not available, or there are temporary service issues. I have been having this same problem for 2 days and I can't find any solutions to this problem. I really could use help on this topic right about now!! Continue reading...

Hi, I've been using my Plantronics Audio995h headphones for a long time with the same laptop I'm using now. One day, I was shutting down my computer and it had started installing updates. Unfortunately, I was dubmb enough to interrupt the installation and force-shut-down my laptop. When I restarted my laptop, all the drivers were either corrupted or deleted. But luckily, I managed to install them all over again. But my camera driver and this headphones driver doesn't seem to be working ever since that day. I've contacted them on their website and they just respond that the headphones use these drivers and are plug and play: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\drmk.sys C:\WINDOW…

I have a shared user account on the domain that keeps locking out every Friday. A small group of users (on Windows 7 workstations) share this user account connecting to a Windows 2008 Server. The issue could probably be avoided if each individual user had their own domain account and their workstation, but unfortunately that's not how it was setup. All the workstations are shared among this group as well as the domain account in question that keeps locking out. The account is actively used through out the week (Mon-Fri) by the same users, but only on Fridays that the account gets locked out. Normally these users never log-out during the day, but they do have to log back i…

I am having intermittent problems with Windows 7 sp1 32 bit stopping during the splash screen. I have run the startup repair many times and it never finds anything, or changes anything, unless of course I allow it do a system restore. It does not matter if I do a repair, a restore, or nothing at all, after several tries Windows 7 will successfully start up. Then my Acer Aspire laptop will function normally until I shut it down. I did a sfc /scannow, and it completed with a message that it had found corrupt files it could not repair. See the log file. Next, I was advised to install, Windows6.1-KB947821-v32-x86.msu hotfix, which I did, and it completed successfully…

I was watching a video when I got a pop up. The security page popped up and said something like upkendint.com has been reported as an unsafe site and that you should not proceed to it. I searched it up on google but nothing came up, and when I searched it up on the safeweb.norton site it didn't really tell me much aside from that it poses a drive by download threat which scared me a little. I tried majorgeeks but I didn't really go in depth with my search. I am not really sure what to do now, as I checked my add ons and the only 2 I have enabled are shockwave flash object and shockwave activex control from adobe and Microsoft and it still tried to pop up. I'm not…

I'm getting inundated with pop-ups from "Air Software" with a funky link that says: Air Software (“Air Software”) strives to provide exceptional software products that help to make the experience with your personal computer more enjoyable. Software Updater is a software product created by Air Software that, once downloaded and installed by you, will scan for third party software products that have been installed on your computer system.
