In XP platform, I've installed adobe premiere pro cs3 and adobe photoshop 7. It was running properly, but today it's troubling. I'm using windows xp and Intel® 82945G Express Chipset Family. My pc was working fine than I checked for driver update and found one update and downloaded it from intel's official website. Than I tried to install that driver but it says something is missing (Can't remember what) and it was asking to locate the file. If I have clicked on a link that opened Internet Explorer, finished using IE (this is the onle instance that IE is used on my laptop, since I prefer Firefox), and closed it with Task Manager (using end task), despite it not showing as active in Task Manager, at unpredictable points as I use the touchpad, IE is spontaneously re-opening on the page I closed. I end up in a cycle of IE spontaneously opening requiring me to terminate it in Task Manager each time. If I leave the spontaneous IE session open and navigate back to whatever else I was doing on the laptop, at unpredictable points as I use the touchpad, IE will spontaneously become active on the laptop. Original Title: Why is the computer acting so erratically? I was given a Toshiba Satellite computer with Windows 8 as a gift, and it has been working fine for four months. Today I went to use it, and the second I click on any programs, or try to go online it automatically starts glitching... flashing sporadically so quickly I cannot attempt anything at all. The first screen is not skipping when I first sign on, but anything I try to type in to at the start menu brings me to the desktop screen and starts the skipping. Model : laptop ACER M5 series. OS ; Windows 8.0 PROBLEM : cannot run windows after upgrading to windows 8,.1 I tried recovering previous OS version but the OS installation just loops around. It gives me a choice of installing "windows on volume 4" and displays error code 0xc000121a, it then continues with the installation process and displays "Your computer ran into a problem 0xc000121a and needs to restart"... then after a while it displays choose an OS to install again. I cannot work in windows 8. seems to me to be only for trendies who love thier aps. It is a total pain for me. I am going back to my old pc and taking my chances with xp. So how long will I have to wait for a workable program choice ? I liked xp, I don't need or want a million aps. I don't want to have my business on every device. Hi, I like the idea of secure boot if it helps keep your system clean of root kit virus. I do not like the fact that I can't make a simple upgrade to my hardware(SSD in my case) and turn secure boot back on. Do I understand correctly-hardware upgrades is a trade off of security? Hello, I suspect there is unauthorized backdoor access to my computer. A few days ago, security essentials reported a backdoor malware file and deleted it. However, is reporting many errors, and my browser history shows activity and pages visited while I am asleep. I tried to do a third party full drive scan overnight. I expected to wake up to a diagnostics report, but computer had been rebooted. The third party software I saw had no log files.
