Hello, I installed new windows 7 in my PC. First I try to install AVG antivirus. I download AVG and run it. The General tab of Security and Privacy has a setting to require a password e.g. 15 minutes after sleep or screen saver begins. I set this just in case my laptop falls into a evil doer's hands. The disk is encrypted. I assume that with all that, I am somewhat safe. But what I really want is just half of this or split it into two settings. I'd like "Immediately" if I put the laptop to sleep or close the lid but "never" if a screen saver comes up. The "logic" is that a screen saver comes up when I've left my laptop somewhere "safe" and I don't need the added protection. It is most bothersome when I'm playing music from the laptop and doodling around the house. If a go…

I'm using a G5 ppc with OS 10.5.8. Recently when I booted up my Mac & many items were missing from my dock. I corrected the problem except for one item. This item produced a menu list in which you could pick any one of these items: Recent Applications, Recent Documents, Recent Servers, Favorite Volumes, & Favorite Items. It's been so long since I added it to the dock, that I don't remember how to put it back into the dock. If someone knows what this is, I'm going to write it down for future reference. When I first started using Linux, you could run over the end of a line in a virtual terminal and it just carried on printing on the next line. You could see the whole of your line at a glance. Nowadays, when you reach the side of the screen, the text jumps to the left and the beginning of the line disappears. You can only get it back by moving left with the arrow key, and then of course you can no longer see the end of the line. I think these are framebuffer consoles - they seem to be compulsory when you have a modern video chip with mode-switching selected. I am setting up a home F5 load balancing lab using the virtual editions, VMware player and Apache running on Ubuntu to simulate my back end servers to which I load balance inbound traffic. Greetings: I really need help. I have Mint Petra 16 (32bit) on a USB hard drive on one port of my XP laptop, and "Porteus 3.0" on a flash on another. I don't know whether Porteus was actually responsible or not, but my problem with Petra occured immedoiately after reboot: While Petra was still hooked into one port, I booted up Porteus to rearrange and resize its desktop icons via its .gtkrc-20 file, and inadveratntly while shuffling a desktop icon to a seemingly empty area I got a "can't copy to this partition" warning when I wasn't trying to copy or overlap another icon. I have emptied my inbox, junk, draft, deleted, sent mail boxes and archived everything else. Please help as I am waiting for extremely important emails (regarding job offers etc). I would rather continue to use this account than switch to gmail or similar, however I may not have a choice if this is not resolved asap.
