i received an invitation to download RunScanner, and first of all, how and why do they decide to do this? what is their underline motive? Secondly, is this program safe, really safe? And finally, is this program compatible with Microsoft Security Essentials anti-virus program since it detects malware and virus? Needless to say i'm a bit sceptical. thanks Continue reading...

I downloaded a file from the Internet but when my anti-virus package did a security scan it couldn't say if it was safe or not. I therefore decided to abort the download. The following day when I connected to the Internet rather than it starting my Yahoo home page I got a message saying from a website called conduit.com that it had found some registry errors and invited me to download a PC registry cleaner to deal with it. The message box said it was a Microsoft partner and had a Yes and No button. The No button was greyed out so couldn't access it. I therefore got very suspicious and have ignored it and can only access the Internet by going into my Favourites and do…

MacBook Pro 2013 OS 10.9.2 Safari 7.0.3 It was working last night. Shutdown overnight and started again an hour ago. I can view websites like this, but I seem to have lost stuff linked with images. Photobucket appears, I can log in and see the skeleton of the page but no images. I can see images in posts published by others, and also ones I have just posted from my desktop iMac. In websites I cannot add attachments. I can choose the picture, it's the right size, it loads and I can see it on the list, but if I try to attach it to a post, nothing appears. But I can post text. Like I'm doing here. Everything works correctly on Safari on my iMac running Lion. E…

Hello all. I recently upgraded my home server by installing a new Xeon e3-1270v3 and Supermicro X10SAT board. Installation was simple and I reconnected my controller card, a LSI 9211-8i. When I booted the array would not mount. I tried to stop and reassemble the array but was met with this: root@PreciseServer:~# mdadm --assemble --scan --force -v /dev/md0 mdadm: looking for devices for /dev/md0 mdadm: Cannot assemble mbr metadata on /dev/sdl1 mdadm: Cannot assemble mbr metadata on /dev/sdl mdadm: no recogniseable superblock on /dev/sdh1 mdadm: Cannot assemble mbr metadata on /dev/sdh mdadm: no RAID superblock on /dev/sdd1 mdadm: no RAID superblock on /dev/sdd m…

Hi Ive just setup a linux lamp server on an old laptop. I installed Ubuntu 13.0.4. From there I did an update and now I have 13.10 I then set up a static ip. All works fine. The problem is that now when I try to do any updates or installs such as sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin Ubuntu reads the package ok says it will install 34.8 mb. I press y to confirm and it then says it has failed to fetch the files because it failed to resolve the gb.archive.ubuntu.com directories. Continue reading...

I'm very now to Gentoo I've been trying day and night for 7 days now to install a systemd/Gentoo system without any luck. It's been really easy to install Gentoo with openRC because it's the default init system. Here are the steps that I used to install systemd but it's still not used as the default init system. 1.Configure kernel as directed in systemd Gentoo page. 2. Built an initramfs with "genkernel --install --udev --no-ramdisk-modules initramfs" 3. simlinked "ln -sf /proc/self/mounts /etc/mtab" 3. Installed sys-apps/dbus with a -systemd USE flag 4. Installed sys-apps/systemd with "udev dbus systemd bindist mmx sse sse2 alsa dvd X qt gtk -kde gnome" USE flags …

If the iPhone and iPad have taught us anything it's that no one can predict what an Apple product will be like no matter how obvious it later seems in hindsight. Such will almost certainly be the case with the iWatch, or iBand, or whatever Apple ultimately calls their wearable, if/when they decide to ship it. But I do think there are real problems a wearable device can solve, and problems an Apple wearable is perhaps best positioned to solve. The iWatch-er's dilemma Apple is seldom first to market with major products. They don't cater to the early adopters. We suffered years of pain from Treo and BlackBerry and Windows Mobile, and Apple got years of real-world fee…

I purchased Microsoft's Windows 8 as a download back in Jan 2013. As a download. And as of now the operating system is. To the point that the HDD should be entirely formatted and OS reinstalled. So now here is my question. Can I activate the OS. ??? Or Will I need to buy a new code. ??? Did I only get one activate when I purchased the Win 8 Pro, Back in 2013. As a download. ??? So what doe's it cost for a new windows code. How many actives will I get with a new windows code. Or Should I just buy a new windows 8 OS already packaged. That comes with infinity activations. ??? Geoff. Continue reading...

I had Windows 8 Pro on one partition and Windows XP SP3 on another partition for some time and I could choose which one to start. I decided to remove Win XP and format the partition Win XP was installed on. I tried to do this using Win XP CD's formatting option that appears before installation; however, I accidentally installed Win XP again on the same partition. The problem is that my laptop no longer recognizes Win 8 and starts on Win XP. I was wondering if by any chance I could retrieve Win 8? By the way, the partition which Win 8 is installed on, is intact and healthy with all the windows files in it. Also, I tried to refresh or reset Win 8 installation using Win…
