Hi, I have an idea. Mobile use touch pad screen to roll, click, context menu, etc. Can Microsoft build mouse as external hardware having touch pad facility. By that user can have keep their fingers flat on any surface where mouse is placed. if such multiple mouse are integrated and can be accessed with both hands then it may save users time and might solve neck pain of many software engineers. Please think and extend this idea. Regards Birendra Continue reading...

After researching and purchasing the FT200HQL touchscreen, it doesn't work w/ my HP Pavilion dv7-5000 laptop, Windows 7, 64 bit. I do have the USB cable plugged in (even though it says it's optional in the User's Guide - not optional if you want the touchscreen to work). I've tried it w/ an Acer, Gateway and another HP Pavilion laptop (all Win 7), & it works perfectly w/ them but not w/ mine. All my drivers are up to date. (Although there's no driver on Acer's website for the FT200HQL for Win 7 & I don't think what they have listed as a driver for Win 8 is a driver). A search of Microsoft for compatibility for the FT200HQL shows compatible and that there's no…

Hello. I've done a lot of searching and reading about Linux but still have a couple questions regarding Linux compatibility with Citrix (ica.client). Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere but I couldn't find the answer. I'm using a Dell PC that has Windows XP on it. While considering upgrading to Windows 7 I performed the compatibility test, which told me it was not compatible due to my PC's 256MB ATI Radeon Driver x600, and "virtualization technology not supported". I'm wondering if those issues would prevent me from being able to use Linux. Also, I'm waiting for Mint 17 to be released towards the end of May before installing Linux, but wondering if ther…

Quote: Integration of the new drive Once the defective drive has been removed and the new one installed, it needs to be intagrated into the RAID array. This needs to be done for each partition. # mdadm /dev/md0 -a /dev/sdb1 # mdadm /dev/md1 -a /dev/sdb2 # mdadm /dev/md2 -a /dev/sdb3 # mdadm /dev/md3 -a /dev/sdb4 The new drive is now part of the array and will be synchronized. Depending on the size of the partitions this procedure can take some time. The status of the synchronization can be observed using cat /proc/mdstat. I have only 2 drives, what exact commands to do after one was replaced as faulty please? Continue reading...

I'd like to get away from Win XP Pro with all the security problems. I have already migrated to Firefox, and Thunderbird. Also have a 2nd slave HD I'm an old fart that used to work with IBM punch cards, tape drives, Wang computers, Burroughs computers, Win 3.1, Win 95. I've been using Corel Draw 7.0 for the last 20 years, and don't want to lose that. (4 thousand+ files) I'm like Charlton Heston, "You'll have to pry my rifle out of my cold-dead hands" when it comes to Corel Draw. All I do is graphics, web, email, and play MP3. I've read lots on the web about: Mint Mate + Wine Ubuntu + Wine Zorin + Wine and Puppy. What would be best? Dual boot Win XP for graphi…

When we Welcomed Smartwatch Fans to the Mobile Nations family on January 1st of this year, we told the story of how the site came to be. In reality, we actually started 2013 with the goal of building a community and resource with a broader focus, covering not only smartwatches, but also other wearables and the broader world of connected devices often referred to as the internet of things. The problem was, we couldn't find a domain name and brand that we loved. With the months rushing by and 2013 coming to a close and the urge to get a new community launched just as strong, we decided to not delay and get things rocking with the more niche-focused Smartwatch Fans. It's …

Patent buyer Intellectual Ventures can count Microsoft and Sony among its latest investors, but previous participants Apple and Intel aren't so in. Intellectual Ventures has previously taken substantial investments from many of the giants of the tech industry, and took that money to buy up patents and then offer a significantly reduced licensing fee to its investors for those patents. Those that didn't opt in to Intellectual Ventures' investment scheme could instead find themselves in the cross-hairs of a patent litigation suit if there was the slightest whiff of infringement. All of this even though Intellectual Ventures doesn't make anything or even patent things itself…

During Talk Mobile we discussed the demands modern technology allowed on our lives — always on, always available, always accountable, always exhaustible. But is it sustainable? France is now wrestling with the issue, at least in narrow fashion. The Wall Street Journal: The French pact between companies and workers, settled last week and awaiting government approval, amounts to a declaration of principle more than law. It gives certain technology-sector workers the right to stop using work tools such as email and smartphones after logging France's state-mandated maximum 13-hour day. Germany also has some limited policies in place in limited areas. What do you th…

After 13 years of generous support from Microsoft, this very popular and perhaps the most reliable operating system ever developed has officially retired. Many diehard XP users may find it difficult to part waves from one of Microsoft's most beloved and reliable operating system. For those true and devoted users who can't seem to pry themselves away from XP right away, there is some hope to continue using Windows XP for at least a little while longer. Since security software is gone forever by Microsoft with XP, it is suggested that users should try downloading a good anti-virus along with a reputable firewall. The built-in Windows Firewall may no longer function properly…
