Ok so here's my problem, lately I've been encountering a file called "Important.exe" file in my C: Drive. When I ran it, the command prompt appeared for a brief amount of time (milliseconds). I'm suspecting it's a virus since my Anti-virus software (Avast) asked to send it to the team to test it. It also gave me the chance to delete it through Avast however that didn't work. So instead I opened my C: Drive, and deleted it manually with the hopes of getting rid of it, but to my surprise that did not work. Whenever I restart the computer the file again reappears. I have been downloading hacks such as Cheat Engine and others which work perfectly for the games I use so I…

I received a Windows Defender popup to clean my computer or my system might crash. I use McAfee which turned off my windows defender, so why am I getting this? I checked Microsoft website for alerts received from windows defender and the alert type I am getting "Critical" is not listed as one they send. the website lists, "Severe", but not "critical". The pop up also does not have other things that the Microsoft website says it should have. Do I assume this is a bogus pop up and do nothing, or do I hit "clean my computer" and hope I am not installing a virus on my computer And if I do, will it work anyway being that I have McAfee? I did run a qu…

I have several Mint Mate installations - in virtual partitions and on USB flash drives. They all have the same themes (skins). On some, I can change the pointer size by moving the slider (see picture). On others the slider is greyed out and I have to stay with the small default pointer. What could possibly be the cause that the exact same systems (same .iso) behave differently. Continue reading...

Hi, Just wanted to introduce myself as a reasonably competent Mint user of some 4 years who used to use another UK forum. A notorious troll there who had been banned several times but allowed back in by the new owners, has made me decide to try pastures new! I usually use Mint 13 Mate but have just tried LMDE 201403 on my laptop and must say how good it looks, not that I'm awfully experienced with Debian. The desktop just looks like the traditional Mint desktop. The things you do whilst waiting for Clem to release the latest LTS! Some may know me as JD or DD. Continue reading...

The success of Amazon's Kindle line and the Fire TV may just have them finaly building a smartphone — and if rumors are true, it will have a 3D-style screen. According to the Wall Street Journal, folks have been briefed by Amazon about the upcoming smartphone. They're calling it part of a larger move to get into the hardware side of the business. Supposedly developers in Seattle — where Amazon is based — and San Francisco have had demos of versions of this new Amazon phone, which is reportedly to be announced by the end of June. One of the things to set this apart from the field of other phones is the screen. Sources tell the WSJ that the phone will display a sort of 3…

I've told you what I want out of OS X 10.10. Now it's your turn. The feature list for OS X 10.10 Syrah has already been decided. I don't have any special insight to what it has, but I know what I'd like it to have — I made the case for a flatter interface, borrowing from iOS 7, and many of you agreed with me. But you have lots of other great ideas, judging from the many responses I got from Twitter. Here's a sample Plain voice interaction Siri is at the top of the list of wants. It's something that a lot of us depend on we use our iPhones and iPads, why should our Mac experience be any different? Apple understands when it makes sense to blur the line between…

Steve Jobs introduced the original iPad in 2010 by making the case that, in order for a new product category to exist between the smartphone and the laptop it had to be significantly better at certain important things than a smartphone or a laptop. A decade of Tablet PC ruins smote across the market space had made that clear enough. The iPad, case made, went on to achieve phenomenal success. Now, in 2014, the mobile market has grown and various companies are attempting the segment it with even more product categories, including: Wearables, including smartwatches, below smartphones. Phablets between phones and tablets, and, Hybrid... laplets? between tablets and lapt…

Gameloft has released a new trailer and some new screenshots for their upcoming game The Amazing Spider-Man 2, coming next week. Spider-Man 2 was originally announced last month as an open world experience that would let you sling webs, crawl on walls, and fight villains in true Spider-Man style. The game will take you through 8 detailed, open areas of Manhattan, including Times Square and Central Park, where you'll swing between buildings and fight enemies using combo-based combat. Gameloft says that the story of Spider-Man 2 is deeper, and features six boss fights and expanded side missions. There will also be a number of social events such as fights in Mysterio's Ar…

Hello, I have recently bought 4 identical computers for the office with 4 windows 7 licenses. I would like to have the same programs installed and was wondering which was the fastest way to do this. Surfing on the web I found some information and thought about two possibilities: -install/unistall everything on one computer and then make a system image and restore it to the other units. If this is possible, what happens with the windows licenses? -create the same system partition on all computers and install all programs on one computer's partition and then make an image of this partition to be restored on the others. Is this possible? Do you have any sug…
