I had a hard disk go bad a few days before the April 8 end of XP support. So I installed a new disk and reinstalled XP Pro, then sp2, then AVG2014 Free, then Microsoft Download Manager, then sp3, then IE8. I then turned on automatic updates but it did not work. I don't want to replace it. I already have a USB keyboard that I'm happy with. I want to completely disable my keyboard so it's no longer inputting ANYTHING and I don't have to keep stopping to fix errors from my messed up keyboard randomly pressing shift while I'm typing. Hello, Newly bought my laptop some days back,being working fine since then,but ever since yesterday,I started having issues with my mouse touchpad. The mouse pointer does not respond to the finger movement on the touchpad. It's either the mouse pointer refuses to move on the screen according to the instruction from my fingers or it just stands still. Hi, How to set folder background image which will be displayed when the folder is shared and opened remotely through a network? I know how to set folder background image which works only when I browse the content of the folder locally by editing the desktop.ini file. However, when I share the folder and then I browse the content of the shared folder from other computer, the background image will not be displayed. I also have tried using network folder path (by using "\\target computer\target shared folder\the background image file") to target the background image in the desktop.ini file but still not working (it works with folder icons though). okay so i have a pretty standard laptop, a Toshiba. So a while back a friend passed away and I got his laptop. It came as a Windows 7 Home premium, but he didn't like Windows and switched it to Linux. I switched it back to Windows, but I just used a Windows 7 Home Premium disk I already had, causing it to be a "non-genuine" version of Windows. When I use more than 4gb ram on my computer it restarts at starting windows screen. I had windows 7 pro 32 bit before, today i upgraded it to 64 bit. I did this so I could use the 6gb ram I had. When i was using 32 bit, my computer would load up with 6gb ram, it would just say in computer properties that i had 6gb ram installed(3.25gb usable). In 64 bit, when I put 4gb ram in the computer, it loads up, but when i put 6gb ram, it restarts at starting windows screen. I uninstalled McAfee and used their removal tool. When I try to turn on Windows Defender, it sends me to a list of files, rather than turn it on or give me an error. I'm concerned that a friend may have been scammed. . . he says he'd talked to Microsoft and was referred to another company to get security on his computer. That he had some sort of virus that was taking over his system (he couldn't control his mouse, browser was redirecting or not functioning). I have an infected laptop and recently purchased another. I am wanting to save all my photos off my old pc but were told if i transfer them onto a disc, I cannot load them onto my new laptop for fear of reinfecting it. Hello, Im trying to setup a multiuser environment booting from network. The system is self distro based on Ubuntu debootstrap I want to use nfs 4 with Kerberos to make the client machines authenticated so I'll know who is mounting the system. I also want only the home folder of the user to be mounted so he wont be able to read the other home folders of other users and that way I can make sure that even if the system will be exploited and the user will get root access he will not get access to the entire file system.
