I have a system running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS I have 3 partitions: 1 is around 30GB (For OS) and the other two are both around 850GB and are mounted as backups1 and backups2. I am having a problem with backups1 in that it is showing as full, but really I cant understand how it is full. When I run df -h, I get this: Code: /dev/sda3 886G 813G 29G 97% /backups1 However, when I run this command to see the top ten largets files it doesn't show anything big enough to fill the drive: Code: du -a / | sort -n -r | head -n 10 It shows this for the top ten files: 713398700 / 410487416 /backups2 299708348 /backups1 251437244 /backups1/... 145498144 /backup…

If everyone else is sharing what's on their iPhones then you know I want to get in on the fun! The iPhone is the single most important, most critical piece of tech I own. It's what keeps me on time, keeps me connected, and keeps me having fun! Since my Home screen is pretty much default — I'm lazy! — I'm including some of my favorite apps from my second screen as well. And yes, I still don't update applications very often. I don't like change. I don't like learning new interfaces and I don't like that I can't go back to a older version of an app if anything goes wrong. And, hey, this is my iPhone! Continue reading...

Previously only registered, paid up Mac developers were afforded this privilege but now Apple has flung the doors open and allowed anyone to join up. So, are you joining the new OS X beta program? During the Philips presentation at the IFA Global Press Conference in Belek, Turkey, the focus was on its Android powered TV sets. But also getting a mention was Hue, Philips' popular smart lighting system, and some pretty nifty integration with its Ambilight TVs. With one special mention for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Brazil this summer. Continue reading...

My new hp photosmart 7525 prints images, but the images are off-center, and a white border (anywhere from 0.5 to 2 cm wide) appears. Sometimes a singular border is along a single side, other times along perpendicular sides. The orientation seems to be dependent on which file is selected. These borders appear despite my selection of "borderless printing" for 4x6 glossy paper. HP tech support says that the problem is an application (Windows Picture and Fax Viewer) problem and not a hardware one. I would like a photo without any border. Continue reading...

Original Title: Acer V5-122P won't update windows I recently bought an Acer V5-122 and it came with windows 8. I am attempting to update to Windows 8.1 however it keeps telling me i need to do the windows updates before I can do this. Everytime I try to do the windows update it either gets stuck on 'checking for updates' or if it gets through tells me there are 99 updates and stays stuck on 'downloading updates' once I start the install but doesn't ever move. I have ran the troubleshooters i have found on a similar question here and everything seems to be fine. Internet and everything else it running fine. Any help would be appreciated! I had closed the screen for second, and when I opened it back up it immediately BSOD'd. i'm pretty sure I downloaded all the proper drivers... I used Lenovo's site, and downloaded/installed everything for this model. but, in the Windows message/notification thing I've been getting a message that my power management driver isn't installed, but it is! Upon installing aforementioned critical updates on my work station, my wired Ethernet home network began to act erratically. Initial issue was the inability to print on network attached printers which progressed to connectivity problems with remote desktop then inability to open some programs/ apps. Looking into the network it was noted that the IP addresses had changed (the printers had static IPs with the DHCP router having reserved IPs for the printers and attached PCs ). Upon using system restore, picking a point previous to the updates, network/ program issues were resolved; upon reapplying the updates one by one the issues began to reappear. I need help/ advice on h…

Hello, I've been experimenting with Speech recognition and WSR macros, and I've set up user profiles on WSR and would like to know, primarily, how to switch profiles from CMD prompt, after which i can write macros to switch. Also, is there a way to set up a windows speech profile that is not coded to any one voice? that uses less processor speed and has a limited vocabulary so that at any time the profile can be switched. Thanks Continue reading...
