Can anyone please tell me how to delete ALL contacts from a Lumia 925. I have to go back to use my old E51 to use Nokia Suite because Lumia doesn't support anything like PC Suite. If I get desperate, I will do a factory reset to lose all my contacts & import them again when I've got my contacts up to date in PC Suite. Will a factory reset also delete all apps I've down loaded like drive & weather? Thankyou for your help... Does anyone else find the Lumia like wading through a vat of molasses to find a simple answer? Or, is it just me? Continue reading...

I have XP 32bit Pro installed now on a Dell D630 laptop with 4GB. I ordered Win7 retail version but got shipped the 64 bit Win7 Home Premium OEM version instead. Can I still use the Win7 OEM disk to do my install? I know I will need to backup up current files etc and reinstalled other programs after Win7 install. Also should I format the hardfile or is that step done during the Win7 install and setup? Deano Continue reading...

Since XP is dead, I am setting up a "new" old system... I have tried the nForce Professional 2200 installer from Tyan. The SM Bus controller ended up under Other in Device Manager with a Yellow exclamation point. So I downloaded the latest drivers from nVidia site. The SM Bus moved to System Devices in Device Manager, but still has a yellow exclamation point. The SM Bus driver version is 4.6.4.0 . When I try to update the driver, I get this message: "Windows has determined that the driver software for your device is up to date." Both of the Tyan and nVidia packages are labeled for Vista64, but I am running Windows 7 64. There is no driver specifically labeled …

I just recently installed a LifeCamNX-3000 Webcam and these items are listed as "Unknown Device", with a code 18 error, under Sound, video and game controllers: 1. SW\{96e080c7-143c-11d1-b40f-00a0c9223196} 2. SW\{ddf4358e-bb2c-11d0-a42f-00a0c9223196} I used to have a Creative Cam Chat HD and a Quickcam STX. When I install them, two other similar devices are listed as "Unknown Device" including the ones above. I went to webcamtoy.com to test my webcams but that site doesn't work for me. I tried installing in safe mode to no avail. Webcams simply do not work on my system. Continue reading...

I just bought this new computer and now have Windows live mail instead of Outlook Express. I would like to make some changes, and need HELP. ** With the in box displayed, how can I access the address book without clicking on new message >to ** How can I change the sort criteria for the inbox, or other folders for that matter ? I prefer to sort chronologically, or by name of sender, and have no need for replies to be posted under the name of the original message. The current sort says 'sort by date (conversations)', but the list of messages is by subject. I frequently do not recall the name of the subject I typed in, but I can always remember the pers…

When I do a Bing query in my address bar "dm.startnow.com" appears in the address bar for a split second, then Bing.com appears and the browser Bing and brings up the answer. How do I remove dm.startnow.com?It seems like a fast double redirect. First to dm.startnow.com, which appears in the address bar for only a fraction of a second with no window appearing, and then Bing appears as normal. But I am wondering if somehow the redirect to dm.startnow is passing data to them or is capturing keystrokes. How do I get rid of this. I have tried all the standard anti-virus programs (Norton anti-virus, Norton Power Eraser, Malwareabytes, Superantispyware, Microsoft Malicious Soft…

Some people claiming to be from Microsoft called my land line phone. They claim to upgrade your licence agreement, Asian accent. I asked where they're from, Australia they said. They asked me to press the 'windows' key on the keyboard and 'R' at the same time to run the 'run' window, and they gave me some names to put there such as CMD, ASSOC and a Ammy website to download Teamviewer8. I've done it, and then basically they took over my computer, and were doing stuff to it, and then asked me to log on to my net banking account. I found it suspicious of course, but still logged on. (PLEASE don't do that). I asked where they were from again, (claimed to be from Australia) …

I run Microsoft Security Essentials and it is up to date; but somehow I still got infected with the following: Virus:Win32/Rovnix.Gen!C and Virus:Dos/Rovnix.gg. I've run the Security Essentials scan and downloaded and run Windows Defender Offline. I've also downloaded Defender to a USB drive and run it from there. Nothing seems to work getting rid of this Virus. The clean Pc action removes VirusWin32/Rovnix.Gen!C but it quarantines Dos/Rovnix.gg and returns the following error 0x80070032. It recommends that the software be removed immediately and lists the following: Items:Boot:\\.\physicaldrive0\partition1(NTFS) Unfortunately, I…

Bogus homeland Security malware completely locked me out of all control of my windows 8 computer. I've tried every solution on the net (windows idea of support was to run their security programs --- I CAN'T CONTROL THE COMPUTER - can't run anything). I haven't had success with any of the options I could find. It seems I am running into a unique problem with restoring the computer to a previous point. Message says system restore failed while copying the registry from the restore point - there are only three restore point options and I've tried all 3 - they were all before the malware got to me. I'm getting a system restore failure error (0x80070570). Somebody please help m…

I am encountering a very weird error recently, that I cannot figure out to solve... I have surfed for hours and hours without any solution. I explain: I have an Asus S301L , with Ubuntu 12.04 and an Italian keyboard; Every time I log in, some key on my keyboard does not work properly: p priduces * 0 produces / - produces + But also others...for example, It took time for me to write just this message...so frustrating sometimes. The only way to have things again to work properly is to type in a shell: Code: setxkbmap it And it starts again to work, just for a (indefinite) duration of time , then, things, again, are wrong. I hope to be clear…

I read somewhere that there is such thing as conflicting drivers. I was trying to figure out why my wireless adapter wasn't working and I found on another forum that there is a possibility that there are conflicting drivers. Except on that forum the person that asked the question resolved the problem so they didn't say anymore. So I was wondering how do you check if there are conflicting drivers? I had a problem with my network adapter and thought I might have conflicting drivers, cuz I previously installed some through ndiswrapper and they didn't work. Continue reading...

Zapping your Bluetooth prefs can fix Wi-Fi wake from sleep problems for some Mavericks users. Let's figure out why This past week I brought you a tip about fixing Wi-Fi wake from sleep issues on some Mavericks-equipped Macs. The fix involves deleting a file in your Mac's library folder. Why it works is still beyond my understanding, but suffice it to say that it's fixed the problem for me, as well as for many of you. Now I'd like to take it to the next step to figure out why the problem is happening. To understand what's going on, let's understand what we did: We've deleted the com.apple.bluetooth.plist file out of your Mac's Library directory. Files with the .pl…

Apple has long strove for clean energy-powered data centers for their iCloud infrastructure, and they're taking over a hydroelectric plant in Oregon to help ensure that they can maintain that goal. Apple was recently recognized by Greenpeace for the 100% green energy supply that powers their data centers, but that supply has largely come from solar installations and from local wind power supplies. Oregon is ripe with potential for hydroelectric power, and the Prineville data center will take advantage of that. As reported by The Oregonian: Big data centers like the one Apple has just opened in Prineville use huge volumes of electricity – as much as a small city – to…

Are you familiar with My.com? It’s a subsidiary of the Mail.Ru Group that publishes apps like myChat and myCamera for mobile devices. Most interestingly (to me), My.com also makes games for PC and mobile. Their latest game Evolution: Battle for Utopia launched exclusively on iOS at the beginning of April, quickly becoming a top game in over 125 countries. Evolution combines third-person shooter gameplay, base building, strategy, and Player-versus-Player battles in a very slick package. If you’re looking for an iPhone and iPad game with impressive graphics and a variety of gameplay styles, look no further. Paradise Lost The premise of the game revolves aro…

If you've been using iWork — Pages, Keynote, or Numbers — on your Mac for a long time, chances are you have older files stored locally rather than in Apple's online service, iCloud. While those files are still perfectly good, they don't benefit from iCloud's Documents in the Cloud sync service, which lets you open copies on any other Mac, iPhone, iPad you may have logged into your account, nor can they be shared or accessed via iCloud.com. If you want all of that sync and access goodness, you'll need to move your Keynote, Pages, or Numbers files from your Mac to iCloud. Luckily, it's easy to do! How to save existing Pages, Numbers, and Keynote files on your Mac in iClo…
