This keeps showing up in my junk mail box...how do I get rid of it? It has a never ending message to it and I don't like it. I've run a scan with Microsoft Security Essentials and everything seems to check out ok. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks in advance. (I've just realised I shouldnt really have posted this question in the Debian forums probably..If Admin wants to move it etc etc I am sorry.) Hello all. Firstly, I apologise for this rather silly question but I am at a loss. I have a USB stick I need formatting to FAT32. I plugged it in and enter the following. Code: fdisk -l And I can see it here.. Code: Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sdb1 1 254975 127487+ ee GPT But i notice this error Code: WARNING: GPT (GUID Partition Table) detected on '/dev/sdb'! The util fdisk doesn't support GPT. Use GNU Parted Which confuses me to no end.... I though…

I've installed Deb on a few different units & have noticed in all-- just after booting in & coming to Login screen - the cursor is tucked way in the top-left corner -or- bottom-right. - How can I adjust it, to center? - Does this affect authentication "grabbing the cursor" also? (for password imput - I must 'tick' input area, to type password) Continue reading...

Hi Forum, I have a centos 6.5 32 bit VM on vmware workstation. I use it as my master DNS server. Suddenly a few days ago I encountered an error during boot. This is just after the splash screen. "Error 16 - Inconsistent file system structure" Press any key to continue... I have tried getting into single user mode, but it does boot into it, it still gives me the same error. I then went in rescue mode by entering "linux rescue" on boot prompt. Select Skip option, activated pv,vg and lv, ran e2fsck /dev/mapper/vg_os-lv_root Still the error persists. Continue reading...

First time Linux user... not sure how to follow the directions on this page: [Forum won't let me post URL!] See below I'm addicted to the macros on my Logitech G110 keyboard. The above page seems to know what they are talking about, but i am unsure exactly how to do the install. Doesn't seem correct to just copy everything between the -----BEGIN PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK----- and paste in in the terminal. Should this be first? sudo apt-key add - Do I include the Version info and the line break? Add the public key Open a terminal and run echo '-----BEGIN PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.19 (GNU/Linux) mQENBFFeChUBCADfGbecu2/WP705CJQTlDSGpzeYL/Jev/8Vt…

Official BBC and Sky apps for iOS have ceased to function as they should. According to a report over on BBC News, the issue is down to a fault with Apple's platform. Apps affected include iPlayer, Sky Go and Now TV on both iPhones and iPads. Neither party has been able to explain exactly what's causing the issue and why only a limited selection of apps are affected. Continue reading...

Square Enix has launched Hitman Go on iOS, a puzzle-based mobile game from the popular Hitman series of video games. It's unlike other titles in the franchise as Agent 47 is limited to movement via a grid and there's more emphasis on puzzle solving, rather than adventure and action. Don't let that fool you into thinking Hitman Go isn't worth checking out as this title will surely put your mind to the test. Continue reading...

Come iOS 8, you might soon be able to ask your iPhone what song is playing and get an answer. Apple is reportedly prepping an update to Siri that will enable music identification. Instead of rolling their own music ID software and library, however, Apple is doing as they've done with many Siri features and partnering with an existing force in the space — in this case, music ID powerhouse Shazam. Skala, Bjango's next generation interface design tool for Mac, is still under development but a component of it, Skala Color, has just launched — and it's free for everyone. Skala Color is pretty much everything you want in a color picker. From Bjango: Skala Color is a compact and feature-rich OS X color picker that works with a huge variety of formats, covering everything you're likely to need for web, iOS, Android and OS X development — Hex, CSS RGBA, CSS HSLA, UIColor, NSColor and more. It also automatically recognises colors copied to the clipboard, presenting them as a swatch that can be applied with a single click. Check out the video above for more. If y…

Fire up Safari on your iPhone or iPad today and you'll most likely find Google as the default search engine — but if Yahoo has their way that might change. Users have the option to change from Google to other search providers such as Bing or Yahoo, but Google's had the default spot locked down for some time thanks to the handsome sum they've been paying Apple for the privilege. But Microsoft's Bing is the default search used in Siri, so count that as a win for Redmond. Yahoo isn't too happy that Google holds the crown jewel default search in Safari, and they're apparently aiming to convince Apple to change that. Continue reading...

I have just reinstalled windows XP on a new computer but when I try to register it for some reason can't do it via internet as I am having trouble with Internet Explorer so tried to do it via phone. No way can I key in the first key and keep geting told I am using an invalid number which includes letters using a phone. so wait to talk to someone but each time I lose the connection and am fast approaching the expiry date to register. Surely ther must be a way that works. I seem to remember earlier installs where I kept losing the phone connection Surely Microsoft can put together a system where it is easy to register software. In terms of proactive maintenance, should I change passwords on all websites that I visit, Banking and Credit Card websites only, or should I just wait until those affected websites request a change of password at some point as a response to this bug? Is there any other proactive maintenance I should do in terms of running anti-virus/anti-spyware/anti-malware scans or checking for updates on certain installed programs? Continue reading...

Hi everyone, On one of my computers, the CPU had disconnected from the heatsink and I was trying to re-attach it. I had no experience with thermal paste. So, not thinking at all, I put the entire tube (3.5 g) of thermal paste on. I put it on the processor and tightened the screws. Then, I found out later that it required as little as a drop to fix the heatsink to the CPU. So, off came the heatsink, and the CPU came off with it! I noticed all the excess thermal paste that had came out after I pushed the heatsink on to the processor and was able to clean it out with cotton swabs and isopropyl alcohol. I had it looking pretty good, and then I noticed a very, very tiny li…

My Publisher program has begun to infuriate me. If I attempt to crop an image,I get a pop up window 'format picture' almost every time. If I attempt to move an image,I get a pop up window 'insert picture' again almost every time. This makes a simple job VERY time consuming. I have found that right clicking is more successful, so is this a mouse issue? When I start my computer I get an ' unable to load configuartion' message, could this be related? I have SP3 and have tried repairing the installation and changing the graphics manager picture display without any success. Can anybody solve this problem? Continue reading...

I have extensive issues with my Sony Vaio laptop operating Windows 8. Currently, I am apparently running two copies of Windows 8. When I turn on my computer, I get the option to run "Windows 8 in volume 5" or "Windows 8 in volume 5". They are both exactly the same. I have tried updating to Windows 8.1. I get error code x80070490. I have followed the steps here - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958044 and it did not work. I got the same issue at the person here http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-windows_update/dismexe-online-cleanup-image-restore-health-failed/668ef107-5f4c-4959-ba93-76d052452315 with dism error 1726.
