Hello, I'm facing problem with Realtek PCIE card reader that is SDHC (SD-MMC) slot . When I enter a SD-MMC card, a window appears and it says G:\ application not found. I'm using windows 7 professional. My PC has 3 USB slots. All the slots works for Pendrive but for microSD USB card reader only 1 slot works and the other two says " F:\ or G:\ application not found ". To correct this problem I read somewhere that going to Autoplay > Mixed content > Take no action > Save will work and I did the same and now all the three slots work (openable) for the card reader. Now my problem is that the SD-MMC slot is showing up G:\ application not found. So I cannot open the …

I'm running Windows 8.1 with Defender as my anti-virus protection on a new Surface Pro and a Toshiba laptop. When I look in the History I never find anything that has been detected or quarantined. I also don't see anything that I have allowed, though I have installed apps on both computers. The Surface Pro is only a few weeks old but the Toshiba has been in use for several years. Is this normal behavior? Continue reading...

Hello there everybody. My name is Daniel and I'm a newbie to this world of open source operating systems. In the company that I work for I started a project to migrate workstations from Windows XP to Linux. The distribution that we chose was Oracle Linux. Thus far we have been observing the usage of the system with 3 final users and the feedback has been awesome. I haven't received slowness complaints since we replaced Windows for Linux and the only questions we get is how to do this or how to do that, but never the system has frozen and I can't work. The difference is brutal and this is why I am posting this thread, because I would like to hear the experiences from ot…

Facebook has announced an interesting new feature called Nearby Friends which does pretty much exactly what you think it does. User can optionally turn on broad proximity notifications, so you and your friends can get a notice when your friends are nearby. You can set specific friends and friends lists to get these notifications, and it only works if both parties have it enabled. The new system also allows you to share specific GPS coordinates for a limited amount of time with selected contacts. Continue reading...

Once the scrappy upstart, InDesign is now the dominant page layout app. Is there any alternative that comes close? Adobe's switch to software as a service has sent budget-minded creative professionals looking for alternatives to the Creative Cloud apps that don't cost them a monthly fee. As the Mac App Store has grown in popularity, alternatives have cropped up. Pixelmator serves many users' needs for a Photoshop replacement. Sketch 3 is an excellent alternative to Illustrator. But where's a solid alternative to InDesign? I've checked around; I've even polled some of you on Twitter to find out what you like. And my results have come up a bit short. Maybe I'm missing…

Angela Ahrendts, incoming SVP of Retail at Apple, seems to be taking her time leaving her current post as CEO of Burberry, and the company has yet to announce her departure date. Ahrendts is supposed to start this spring, and is available to leave Burberry starting this month, having finished her six-month notice term. But it appears that she will stay with the company a little longer, helping to ease the transition to her successor. She may also be staying while negotiating the terms of a possible £8 million in share bonuses from Burberry, according to The Guardian: Continue reading...
