I recently got a virus on my computer which luckily I was able to catch. Microsoft Security Essentials did its job and caught the virus, and ALL my programs work just fine to my knowledge. The only problem I am now having is that some of the programs I have installed on my computer and work fine does not show up on my programs and features list, I have done everything I know how to do. At first I thought it could be a Registry Error, so I found a reliable tool to can my registry.....no problems. Since around Wednesday, every time I run Microsoft Security Essentials it abruptly stops after reaching an item called \\.\PHYSICALDRIVE2\Partition0 (NTFS). Both the time elapsed stops and the interface become unresponsive, even after waiting a few minutes. I'm not sure what this is, and I can't seem to access it in Windows Explorer, either. So I was downloading the steam launcher onto my Debian today. I was following some online instructions to install the program and followed them all the way through. After i had finished installing it, I minimized my terminal and looked through my programs, of which there were none. I clicked Log Out to reboot my computer to see if that would help but it gave me an error message every time i clicked the log out button. It said something like the process was unable to run or something like that. Since the end of support for Windows XP, strange things happen on some computers with the formentioned operating system using Microsoft Security Essentials. Hi, My HDD crashed recently, which was very annoying, but I thought would be OK. I had (or at least thought) backed up everything on my PC. All files, and Windows 8 to a USB drive. I replaced the HDD and went to put in the USB, everything was working sort of OK, and a Windows screen loaded, but my only option was to recover my Windows installation. While attempting to download the update a message to "Uninstall these apps to continue" pops up, I click on the "Uninstall Apps" and after a bit , got the following message "Before you update to Windows 8.1, uninstall these apps. If you pause the update, you can restart it later from the Store" Then it shows "Sentinel Runtime Drivers" under that. There is no such app. How do I fix this.
