Well, I would like to install Microsoft Security Essentials but I already have avast! Free Antivirus 2014 with 2 virus (?) in avast! qurantine. I'm not sure that it really viruses. But ... The first of the two isJS:lframe-DZQ [Trj], and the second is JS:lframe-CAP [Trj]. They was founded in Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\5X6Q80WR andinWindows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\QEIBJ27J. If I delete avast! what will happen with these viruses. Will the viruses be removed on safe place or remain in an unprotected computer? Are they going to be recognized by Microsoft Security Essential before they infected computer? (If they ar…

I just added a new ethernet printer to my local network. The printer grabbed an IP address from DHCP and works perfectly. All is well when accessing it as a printer. Let's say its short name is "wxyz". Now I want to access it's web page by pointing Safari at it. I can do it by typing in the IP address. How can I use something more symbolic like, say, "wxyz" or some simple variant that's easy to remember and type? Continue reading...

I was reading through the Arch Wiki and it looks like I need to set up the mirrors that will be used when I do a pacman -S for installing stuff through Terminal. Couldn't really make heads or tails of the Wiki though as to what I need to do if anything. Do I need to do anything or are mirrors that I need already set up or what? I know in Debian you get a "sources.list" that's pre-setup with the mirrors that the Distro will use. Is Arch(Manjaro) the same or do I need to go in and set them up somehow? Part of the reason why I ask is because I can go into pacman package manager and check the AUR box and look for stuff and find it but in Terminal if I do a pacman -S "pack…

This post was written by Josh Rennert, Program Manager, Windows Ecosystem & Frameworks team There were two big announcements involving Windows Library for JavaScript (“WinJS”) this year at //build 2014. One revealed MS Open Technology’s work to make WinJS cross-platform and open source. Developers are now able to bring the personality of Windows apps to other browsers and devices. For more information, check out Maria Kang’s post. The second highlighted the release of WinJS version 2.1. With Windows Phone 8.1, we are proud to announce that the WinJS is now available on Phone. WinJS 2.1 tailors the features of WinJS 2.0 (for Windows Apps) to fit the Windows Phone…

At //build/ earlier this month, we announced that the option would be available for developers to respond to reviews, beginning in May. Today I want to share that we’ve taken the first step toward implementing this feature with a small private pilot program that we will expand over time. As a result, some customers may start to hear from developers in the pilot program as early as later this week. This post will summarize the program and our plans for making it more broadly available to developers. Respond to reviews This new capability enables developers to respond to reviews of Windows Phone apps directly from Dev Center. Once you create a response, users will rece…

Welcome to our next installment of //build 2014 highlights! This week we’ll start with relevant sessions for enterprise developers that are rich and diverse. As we mentioned in a brief post on April 3rd, Windows 8.1 Update enables some new features for side-loaded Windows Store apps, namely local loopback and brokering between Windows Store and desktop apps and services, which open a wide range of new scenarios. These capabilities were also mentioned in the //build keynotes and are addressed fully in this session: 2-515 – Respecting Your Investments: How to Leverage Your Existing Code in a New Windows Runtime LOB App. Additional sessions on enterprise development and d…

If you're experiencing issues with the front-facing FaceTime camera on your iPhone 5, it may be time for a DIY repair. Symptoms with the FaceTime camera typically include a blacked out screen when the front-facing camera is activated or pixelated areas and lines through the screen. In some cases the front-facing FaceTime camera may not launch or trigger at all. That cable also contains the proximity sensor and ambient light sensor. If auto brightness isn't working or your display doesn't turn off when you're on a call, those are signs the sensor portion is failing. If you're experiencing any of these issues, follow along and we can walk you through a DIY repair from start…

Gameloft's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hit the App Store today, offering plenty of web-slinging and smart-alecky heroism. The storyline expands on what’s in the movie, and has tons of unlockables, like the Symbiote Spider-Man costume, and butt heads with villains like Venom and Kraven the Hunter. There’s original voice acting throughout and an open world replete with rich 3D graphics. Even if you have no intention of seeing the movie, if you’re a comic fan at all, this is probably worth a gander. The game is going for $4.99, and it includes in-app purchases for accelerated progression. That's likely a dealbreaker for a lot of people. Any takers? $4.99 - Download Now …

Think console exclusives only exist on PlayStation or Xbox? Nope. iOS has 'em too. Here are ten of the best! Console exclusives are a big deal in the game world, but they're not unique to Xbox One and PlayStation 4, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and PS Vita. iOS gets them too — exclusives you can only play on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. With the help of Simon Sage, I've written up a list of the top ten games that you can only play on iOS. Device 6 More interactive fiction than conventional game, Device 6 puts you in the roll of Anna, an amnesiac who wakes up on an island. The game requires you to think your way through it, resolving puzzles as you learn what happens…

If you're a Chase bank customer you'll notice a rather significant change to the Chase Mobile app when you fire it up today. It's finally been updated to officially support iOS 7. Well, I guess 7 months late is better than never, right? The new version of Chase Mobile only brings one new feature with it which is the ability to send and reply to messages. Other than that, all energy and effort was put behind completely redoing the interface and design. For those used to using the Chase Mobile app, be forewarned it's a lot different this time around. Unfortunately the iPad version hasn't received an update for iOS 7 just yet. Hopefully that'll change soon as well. For…

“The potential to increase reach across platforms while actually reducing development time makes [Windows Phone 8.1] the most developer-centric release I have witnessed from Microsoft.” Canadian developer and Microsoft MVP, Sébastien Lachance has been using the Windows 8.1 SDK for two months now and it is his wish come true, he says. The benefits of the converged app model built into the platform afford him the luxury of writing code only once for two major platforms and maximizing outreach potential. Lachance accrued 100,000 downloads for his smash hit app, DualShot, within the first month of its launch and he is eager to take advantage of the Windows Phone 8.1 release…

This week we began rolling out the behind the scenes infrastructure changes in support of announcements at last week’s //build/ conference. This includes the consolidated price tier structure, which is the first change that will be noticeable to you, as your app prices may have changed as a result. We’re making changes to the price tiers to achieve two goals: 1) Simplify app pricing for developers by providing a single set of price tiers across Windows and Windows Phone, necessary to support universal Windows apps 2) Increase developer opportunity by adding $0.99 and $1.29 (USD) price points for Windows; apps priced in this range represent 55% of Windows Phone paid …
