I am not entirely sure if my machine will work with work with Windows 7 even with the information the upgrade adviser gave me. The one thing that seems like it might be an issue is the sound drivers. The machine is a Gateway Profile 4 which has a 2.4 ghz processor and 80 gb hard drive. I think the computer was on the market around 2003 if that says anything. There is also install disks that came with the computer so you could uninstall and re-install or repair if needed. I have 2 desk top and 2 map top and 4 neighbors have 4 , that all after down loading the EOS UPDATE seem to hang in very slow motion and no longe function at an acceptable level, over the pas 2 days I have been trying to help everyone to no avail as if I get task manager started right away I can see process shows 99 % idle, yet computer seems to be hung. My Dell Dimension 4700, running XP Home, will not defrag. It stops the defrag and gives a BSOD saying that a process or thread crucial to system operation unexpectedly terminated or exited. I ran checkdisk with both options checked. Everything seemed to be good. I ran HD Tune (Freeware), and scanned C:. A quick scan showed no bad blocks, a full scan showed about 40 bad blocks. I'm assuming the bad blocks somehow have corrupted data which causes the defrag failure. How do I determine if my bad HD blocks are corrupted data or are physical damage to the disk? Hi, I'm completely ignorant when it comes to understanding how my Surface RT works, so please could you explain, in the simplest terms, how I can download and read books on my device. I'd like to access my local library's catalogue, but am required to have an Adobe ID, something which my device doesn't support, which is very frustrating. I don't necessarily want to have to buy e-books, as I should be able to loan them from the library on this device. I did try to purchase an e-book from a retailer, only to discover that this device wasn't supported by their service either, which again is very frustrating. Hi there, Was wondering whether it will "ever" be possible to install Silverlight for the Surface RT? I saw another person post this question a while ago and the MS Support guy closed the thread saying download it through explorer but doing it that way takes you to the x86 version of the install. It isn't available in the store, it isn't available as d/l link anywhere I've seen. I take it also that Office will never have the ability to create VBA routine either seeing as that is deliberately disabled (yet the DLLs that enable the development are all still available). Is there an app that allows one to use a Windows Phone as a remote control for the Surface 2? For example, if the Surface 2 is connected to a TV via HDMI, can you control the Surface from the couch using a Windows Phone? EDIT: Found this app "Unified Remote" but doesn't currently support Windows RT. We can try to make requests in their request page http://requests.unifiedremote.com/. After deleting all the skydrive files which I set to be online only, my surface drive should have freed up about 20 gigs under the Users\account\SkyDrive directory. If I use Explorer to navigate to the SkyDrive folder and ask for its size (via Properties), it correct shows zero usage. If I navigate one level up to the Users\Account directory, the same action results in it finding 20 gigs of used space. This forces me to limit the total number of applications that I can install. How do I get Surface Explorer/system to recognize that I no longer have the SkyDrive files sync'ed to my surface and to let me use more of the available disk space? Continue reading...

Hello, I installed a program called Natural Reader, which plays back text using various voices so that you can hear what is on the page rather than just reading it. I just bought the program and I cannot get the voices to work. I emailed the company and they told me to go to Control Panel/Speech Recognition and fix it on my computer because it is a computer problem. So when I click on the Speech Recognition and then Text to Speech (I have Windows 8 by the way) --and I click on the "Preview Voice" button, it does not play the text at all like it is supposed to do. Hi I have a 1 year old Asus N56VZ which had Windows 8 pre installed. I decided to do a factory reset (there is a recovery partition on the hard drive) which would include formatting the C drive. The reset worked and I logged into windows 8 again. The asus software and windows were doing updates and I left them overnight. The next morning I found the laptop on but with a blank black screen - no mouse cursor, nothing. I pressed the power button for 4 seconds to power off which it did. I have an Asus computer with Windows 7 on it. Every time I clear out my documents and delete them I end up with less memory than I had to start with. The computer has been taken down to PC World for a checkup and they have told me that there is nothing wrong with it. I initially started off with 128 GB of memory and am now down to 423 MB. I just upgraded to Windows 7 by installing another HDD in my computer. I still have Windows XP on the other HDD. I would like to be able to run XP when the computer is unhooked from the internet so that I can use software that is no longer available for Windows 7.
