Whenever I copy files from a disk to another on my personal Linux system, the OS stops responding appropriately, the UI starts behaving erratically, any movies I'm playing will freeze and continue until the file transfer is done. I don't care if the transfer takes longer, I'd like to throttle it down. I only copy files using Dolphin normally, so I'd need this system wide or at least be able to launch dolphin for this. I tried "ionice -c 3 dolphin", it had the same problem. I'm using Linux Mint KDE 16. Thanks for any ideas. Continue reading...

Completely weird problem here. The primary keyboard shortcuts don't work. The secondary DO work. I can also copy & paste using mouse but who does that??? It worked until it stopped, I don't know what changed. The primary (CTRL+C/X/V) are configured as the defaults. I have a shortcut for a show desktop widget set to META + D, that doesn't work either. Copy & pasting works on Chromium, but not on Kate text editor, Dolphin, even on Yakuake (the terminal manager, there the shortcuts have an added shift, like CTRL + SHIFT + V) Any ideas? Thanks. I have a genuine copy of XP SP3 installed on my computer (carried out by a computer technician), but I previously didn't have an XP installation CD and I didn't know the Product Key details either. I have managed to get the 25 digit Product Key - both Belarc and Magical Jelly Bean (!) Windows Key Finders gave me exactly the same code. I have also managed to get a brand new genuine XP SP2 installation CD with COA + unused key - haven't seen any SP3 ones and Microsoft no longer distribute XP software. I know, I know I'm still using XP on the computer with the issue. My other computer is running 8.1. They are both Ethernet connected to a LinkSys router EA6400. I just reconnected my camera to the XP since I installed the new 8.1 computer. Now when I activate the camera "Your DNS settings have changed" keeps popping up. It gives me the option to "Accept Changes" or "Restore". I keep telling it to restore and it goes away for 30 - 40 seconds then pops back up. Whats going on here? Thanks for any help. Hi, I recently re-installed windows xp on my desktop...i have service pack 2...and Windows explorer 8....i am trying to download Itunes..but after i go thru the download icon...nothing happens..!!..it simply goes back to the "thankyou for downloading itunes'... screen...no error message.... RENESAS USB 3.0 is now starred in yellow and no longer functions after a Win update. I finally switched from iPhone to Windows Phone 8. Its day two and I'm near tears over the calendar. How can Microsoft, the software giant, have such a poor excuse for a fully functioning calendar?! I don't know what to do as I see that the WP8 team seems to not care at all as there have been threads similar in nature since 2012. Hi My question is whether it is possible to change the security settings in Windows 8 so that it is not possible to do a reset of Windows without first entering an admin password?
