I have a tower computer with three SATA drives installed. The primary C: drive is a dual boot drive with XP and Win 7 installed. The other two drives are data drives. I want to minimise the potential for damage/loss of the drives during transit. Can I simply remove the 3 drives from the tower and re-install them without problems at a later date? I wonder, would the computer boot up ok after re-installing the drives? Would BIOS see the re-installed drives as NEW drives and therefore not go beyond POST or would BIOS recognise the drives as if they had never been removed? Would the Windows Operating System's boot up ok as if the drives had never been removed? …

I have uninstalled the software I was using for my internet wireless broadband connection (which shows up under the heading: Dial-up & VPN in the Network icon). I made sure all folders were removed from my PC, meaning I went into the Program Files folder and the Program Data folder. This internet connection was made via a USB modem. I had hoped that by clicking onto the big red cross to the right of the '3G connection' listing in the Network icon that it would be removed from the list, but it just gives me a message. It is not listed in the Network and Sharing Center. I have of course installed the new wireless broadband connection software from a different …

I was attempting to download a file off of an internet website. I had used the site previously and never had any issues. The download looked a little odd, and I should have listened to my instinct, but I had never had a problem before, so I okayed it. Bad idea. Suddenly, Microsoft Security Essentials pops up that I have a problem. I delete the file everywhere I can find it and start running Microsoft Security Essentials. I have Google Chrome and Internet Explorer browsers on my computer, though Google Chrome is the only one I typically use. I opened my task manager, and all of a sudden, my Chrome disappeared as if I hadn't just been using it. I attempted to reboot …

I know early on I had issues when I tried to do this for a laptop that I had but that's been over a year ago and I've learned a lot about Linux since then. Still, I want to get my ducks in a row for this install. Just like I figured my daughter's laptop with Windows 8 has been borked, told her now to get a Windows machine, told her to get an older laptop and I'd install Linux on it so she'd not have problems with viruses and malware, she didn't listen so now here we are, just like I said we'd be. So, I told her I can install Linux on her new laptop and get her back up and running and she'd not have to worry about stuff like this anymore. Figure that Ubuntu 14.04LTS may …

If you're taking your iPhone 5 into an Apple Retail Store to get the faulty sleep/wake button fixed then you might just have another option available to you — a $350 trade in towards an iPhone 5s or iPhone 5c. That's $80 more than is usually offered. There is one catch though — you have to ask for it. So what's the deal? Continue reading...

The Music app in iOS 7 didn't just come with an all new design, it came with an all new bug that's giving some of us trouble with deleting songs. What's supposed to happen is that you swipe a song, it brings up the delete button, and with a tap the song is gone. Unfortunately, for iTunes in the Cloud, that's sometimes not the case. The good news is all iTunes in the Cloud (and iTunes Match music) is safely backed up to Apple's servers. And that means you can fix the Music app bug with the nuclear option! Continue reading...

The big news this week was AAPL's earnings. The iPhone beat all expectations to once again thrill — and terrify — the world as an almost unmatched profit-making machine. The iPad, however, came up short. The iPad didn't sell as many as expected or as it had in the past. That's in the context of one quarter, however. What is it in the context of Apple's business?
