My daughter has an iPad and an iPhone running the latest version of iOS 7 and an iMac running Mavericks. Once she got her iPhone, she realized the utility of using her Contacts app and, curiously, she chose to fill in all her addresses via the iPhone instead of adding them to Contacts in her iMac using her keyboard. On her iPhone > Settings > iCloud, Contacts are turned on. Last night, on her iMac, in System Prefs >iCloud, she checked the box for Contacts in order to begin her first sync of Contacts. Over 12 hours later, Contacts on her iMac still have only the one or two addresses she entered months ago but none of those she has added to the iPhone …

Greetings, OS: RHEL 6.3 Kernel: 2.6.32-279 x64 I can't get atime with ext3 or ext4 filesystems to display correctly. I need actual atime and not relatime. I have to use atime for this mandatory junk client to work properly. I've checked sysctl parameters to no avail. I've remounted (/home for example) multiple times using strictatime and atime arguments. I check /etc/mtab and it holds rw,strictatime but all access timestamps on files and folders do not update. Only modifications are updating time stamps. Suggestions? Continue reading...

Hi, I've been an Arch user for a few months, and there I installed about everything using pacman and yaourt, so I'm quite blocked now that, on gNewSense, I'm trying to install Audacity from a deb file. I've run this line: Code: dpkg -i '/home/septinergic/Scarica/audacity-data_1.3.12-6_all.deb' And it doesn't report errors. I don't paste the rest since it's in italian, and so I don't think it could give a better image of what has happened to most of you. Now I don't know how to go on. I don't know what other informations you need, this is the first time I install something through this way, so ask whatelse you want :) Thanks :) Continue reading...

AT&T is set to take on the likes of Gogo in a battle for in-flight Wifi, as the carrier announced its plans to offer a service based on its current LTE network. Starting in late 2015, AT&T will begin to implement a new air-to-ground communication between planes and its existing LTE network to provide in-flight Wifi and entertainment to passengers flying in the U.S. (notably omitting international flights). The service will utilize spectrum that AT&T already owns, and the carrier will be partnering with Honeywell to make sure everything goes according to plan. Continue reading...

At //build 2014, we introduced features of Windows 8.1 Update that help enterprise developers move apps to modern, touch-enabled, mobile devices while leveraging their long-term investments in existing business logic code. Brokered Windows Runtime Components make this possible by allowing side-loaded Windows Store apps to interoperate with desktop processes outside of the app container. Full details are given in the whitepaper Brokered Windows Runtime Components for side-loaded Windows Store apps along with Harry Pierson’s talk from //build, Respecting Your Investments: How to Leverage Your Existing Code in a New Windows Runtime LOB App. Great as this technology is, we…

Hi there, I'm really in need of help. the other day my laptop froze, would not respond to anything. I powered off and left it. later when i tried to restart it i had a multitude of issues. It loads the Acer screen then it shows the start up options screen. It offers Safe mode, Safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt, start up from last known working configuration and start windows normally. None of those options work. When I try to start in any of the safe modes, it lists tons of codes(?) then either goes black or flashes a blue screen. It only shows the blue screen long enough so that I can't read a thing it says. If I start normally, it load…

Hi, A day ago, my Windows 8 Toshiba computer started making a really loud whirring sound, so I manually rebooted my computer pressing the button, and turned it on, but it still made the sound...after many tries, I finally got it to turn on without any sound, but a few hours later, it started making the whirring noise again, so I rebooted it...this continued for the whole day...overall, I probably manually rebooted the thing 20 times or so. Last night, however, I manually shut my computer down once again, but when I turned it back on, it was going to automatically repair my computer, but it started making a loud whirring sound again, so despite it being in the mid…

I've been having a problem and I don't know if its my computer or not, but it also does it with my xbox 360 too, but recently my internet would drop all connections to the internet. So i would be in the middle of my game on DayZ or on xbox live and all of sudden I disconnect and it only started happening 5 days ago, before that it was perfect. I would lose internet for 2 seconds and time out then reconnect and it does several times during the day. I have updated my drivers and done whatever I was told before. Nothing works, I have a brand new Modem/Router and it always has internet connection with 72.2 Mps downstream speed. I do not know what is wrong because my xbox is a…

Original Title : Hoverwolf1 How do I change the way my laptop charges the battery? It charges to full, then drops over a period of time until it has to be recharged, but, to recharge, it has to be shut down. During initial system set-up, there was an option to have continual charging or intermittent charging, but I can't find that to change it in the power settings. Anybody have any ideas?
