I am new to iptables. I have a 2 virtual machines. VM1 - I1,I2 (2 interfaces,192.168.122.2,10.0.0.2) VM2 - I1,I2 (2 interfaces,192.168.122.3,10.0.0.3) What I need to implement is,to redirect traffic that is received on I1 of VM1 to I1 of VM2. VM2 on receiving, should process those packets, then send out through its I2 to I2 of VM1. VM1 should then reply to the original request. Example : Say there is a ping request to VM1 at IP 192.168.122.2. The flow should be as follows: Recieve packet at I1,VM1. Redirect those packets to I1,VM2. VM2 should process those packets and then send the output through its I2 to I2 of VM1. VM1 should then send the reply…

The titans of the smartphone space — Samsung and Apple — are still the titans, but smaller competitors like Huawei and Lenovo are chipping away at their market share. That's the latest from Strategy Analytics, whose numbers of the global smartphone marketshare for the first quarter of this year saw the combined smartphone marketshare of Samsung and Apple dip to 46.5% from 49.9%. That said, their total shipments were up massively from the year prior: 89 million from Samsung (up by 19.6 million units) and 43.7 million iPhones from Apple (up 6.3 million units). So neither company is in 'trouble' just yet, they're just claiming a smaller percentage of a much much larger pie. …

The Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit, best known as EMET, helps raise the bar against attackers gaining access to computer systems. Since the first release of EMET in 2009, our customers and the security community have adopted EMET and provided us with valuable feedback. Feedback both in forums and through Microsoft Premier Support Services, which provides enterprise support for EMET, has helped shape the new EMET capabilities to further expand the range of scenarios it addresses.

I bought a refurbished laptop about three or four years ago with an authentic version of XP Professional already installed. I brought the XP disc with me (has "For Refurbished PCs" printed on it), however I did not bring the product code with me when I moved to SE Asia. The laptop broke down so I'll be buying another refurbished XP quality laptop soon. Is it possible to install XP on it without the product code? If yes, is it possible to activate it without a phone call? I have a quad-band mobile phone but the voice quality is very poor with long distance calls. Thank you Continue reading...

Windows Home Server 2011 is currently not able to back up UEFI boot systems nor is it able to back up GPT type systems. This may be addressed in a future update to the Windows Home Server product. Is this still the case? I just had my father buy a brand new Dell laptop, with the assumption that he'd be able to connect it to his network and back it up to the server in the same fashion his Win7 laptop had been backing up. Now I'm at a loss as to the correct thing to tell him to do until the next time I can visit. Wim.. I recently upgraded from Office 2003 to Office 2010 and from Windows XP to Windows 7. In PowerPoint 2010 now, when I am resizing an image using the corner handles, the original image remains behind, and a new semi-transparent image appears on top of it. When resizing the new image it is difficult to see the edges, and it also makes me dizzy because it appears that I am seeing double images. Previously, when dragging the edge of an image (in WinXP and Office 2003), there was not this doubling effect, and the edge of the image simply moved in a clear visible way without any overlapping and without any transparent edges. Can someone please help me disable t…

Open TWO windows explorers. One of them has a bunch of EXE's in it (lets say the one on the right) Drag a file from the left on to the right one, because I want to move the file there. IT HIGHLIGHTS ANY EXE I HOVER OVER, THEN TRIES TO TO OPEN IT WITH THE FILE I DRAGGED. I CAN'T SIMPLY MOVE IT. Try it with 'Right Click' The only option you get is 'Open With'. All I want to do is move a file over. An EXE file into a folder with a bunch of other EXE's which are common. Why is the most BASIC, FUNDAMENTAL operation of simply MOVING A FILE, suddenly not able to be accomplished because of this new 'feature'?? Which, by the way, worked well for DECA…

Windows 7, auto updates, IE, KB292229 has failed to install for at least a dozen time recently. It is annoying because it increases the shutdown and startup time significantly. We are using Windows 7 Enterprise clients connecting to a virtual server with Server 2008 R2 Enterprise. We recently installed 248 computers that had been cloned by our VAR from a clean machine that we setup. In one building with 35 computer, about 20 of them are having an odd issue. All the others have been fine. The issue concerns browsing the network to a shared drive. The server contains shared directories for 4 sites, each site has a series of shared directories within the main share. Logging in to a client machine with Domain Administrative credentials, I can browse to all the sites and all the directories except the directory for the User directory for that si…

I accidentally installed an extension on my Google Chrome (Saave Net) which basically sends pop up ads on every website you go to. I disabled the extension, and then ran Malwarebytes and Adwcleaner as a precaution to get rid of anything else that may have lingered. Following my Adwcleaner sweep, I could no longer access the internet. On both Google Chrome and Internet Explorer I had absolutely nothing. I could browse the favourites and history, but could not connect to any web pages or download anything. There was also no internet access for programs like Steam and Spotify. Getting information from online forums on my other laptop, I tried using Command Prompt and the com…

As most of you know, There has been a major security exploit found in all versions of Internet Explorer. Here is one of many articles about this: http://www.ctvnews.ca/sci-tech/u-s-government-warns-users-to-avoid-internet-explorer-until-security-flaw-fixed-1.1795379 Will MSE protect us from this exploit? Or do we need to switch browsers until a Windows Update patch is released? I am on Windows 7. Jack PS. FYI I use Firefox as my main browser. I like IE 11 for its speed though. Continue reading...
