I had an issue originally with my system freezing every time I left it idle for a period. I traced it to possibly an ATI error, incompatibility or problem. Chkdsk was ran but I was not able to fully diagnose this for sure untill the REAL, BIG, problem happened. I was going to update my bios with the Gigabyte bios flash utility and decided to reboot and see what version I had before I upgraded and I accidentally pressed 'Delete' trying to enter the BIOS right when it went to the next screen where it says DMI Pool data which activated the 'press any key to ....' start Gigibyte's ExpressRecovery2. I exited out of ExpressRevocery 2 and should not have caused any issues, and e…

I have a Win7 PC for daily use, and an older Win XP box in my home studio for audio recording. It worked fine for quite a long time. After not recording for 8 months, I did some work on it, it worked absolutely fine. Then when I shut down that day it had a truckload of Win XP updates, including the final XP updates. Every single time since then, one I start it, 5 out of 6 times it dead freezes either instantly upon loading the desktop, or within a minute. Hard lockup. No CTRL ALT DEL works. I have to hard reset it. I can't afford a replacement PC soon, and I need this box back immediately for recording work. Any good valid reason the final XP update wo…

Below is a screenshot of what my desktop looks like. I should note that I have tried right-clicking the desktop to check through all of the sorting / arrangement options. My cat somehow pressed a specific combination of keys to do this. I can't find it in any menu whatsoever. Continue reading...

Hi, A few months ago I got brand new laptop for my 18th birthday to help with school work and it worked beautifully. It runs on windows 8 and had the latest synaptics programmes. However, somehow I think I must have uninstalled the device itself, not just the driver, and have downloaded several different drivers believing that this was the problem. Now I believe that it is the device itself that has uninstalled while my basic mouse functions work perfectly. I require some assistance on the matter because I am not massively computer-savvy but have some primitive knowledge. Any advice would be much appreciated because this problem has been bugging me for a while. …

I have been having BSODs every now and then and this is the XML view of the most recent error code details. No problems with memory whenever I do a memory test. Only known thing that could be the issue (but doubt it) is that when I put the computer together I mixed up the power cord cables of a different computer. Other than that I have no idea what could be causing these issues. - <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> - <System> <Provider Name="Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power" Guid="{331C3B3A-2005-44C2-AC5E-77220C37D6B4}" /> <EventID>41</EventID> <Version>2</Version> <Lev…

Original title: Stuck in eternal Startup Repair loop! Hi everyone, Every time I start my computer the Startup Repair tool launches, does its business and then informs me that the tool cannot automatically fix the problem. When I look under "Problem details", I see a number of problem signatures, one of which is Problem signature 07: CorruptRegistry. This is enough to send me into a frenzy, but I kept cool (for now ...). I then looked under "View diagnostic and repair details". Each "Test Performed" entry indicates Result: Completed successfully. At the end of the list I see "Startup Repair has tried several times but still cannot determine the cause of …

i used to use Microsoft essentials now I have a new PC running Defender, I never see any history or the results of the scan...what am I missing. Also I attempted to use a downloaded version of Kaspersky that came with my new computer, and it totally corrupted the system. Anyone else have this issue. I took back one PC because that happened then bought another and it happened again? Has Kaspersky been hacked. It truly created the worlds biggest mess on my computer. It would go no where on the web telling me there were Trojans everywhere. It downloaded all sorts of malware programs. So that is why I went back to Microsoft Defender but as I said I cannot view the scan result…

They caught me yesterday and I thought they were a ligit MS Windows support Centre since they knew my windows Reg. number. So I gave them access to my computer. Only when they told me I needed to pay R1500 to "renew my expired ssl Security Certificate" or words to that effect did I realise I had been had. I feel such an idiot. The thing is I have had dealings before with the MS Support staff from India and so it sounded authentic this time too. I quickly closed everything down when I got off the phone. When I tried to re-start my laptop I found i had to put in a password which I didn't have. So I restarted and entered the BIOS and changed passwords etc and then cou…

Using my IE Browser today, i noticed a flashing shield on my bar....apparently i accidentally opened it and next thing i knew, my computer was taken over by this thing. It identified itself as "Windows Internet Guard" and kept popping up windows on the right. As it progressed, it wanted a credit card number....to be used after the "trial period". I did not do anything with this...noticed that the word "automatically" was misspelled....kept trying to close it....then i realized, to my horror, it was blocking all my attempts to access the internet!!!!! Had to finally go to my system restore and restored my computer to two days ago. This thing....i am assuming is part …
