Apple has been involved with other tech companies in fighting for customers' privacy rights in the courts and congress in the US. The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), which publishes a Who Has Your Back report each year, has awarded Apple (among a handful of other companies) with top marks when it comes to protecting user data against government officials. The report grades technology companies on how they handle customer data access requests, put forward by government. Apple met all six factors included in the report, which each listing is graded by. The company scored full marks across the board on the following: Requires a warrant for content Tells users…

Before you queue up in line at the theater to see this new take on the legendary giant monster, there's plenty you can do to commemorate the occasion, from watching the original to playing games. Here are the links! Gojira: The black and white 1954 film that brought the mighty monster to life. This is the original version in Japanese, with English subtitles. Download now Godzilla: King of the Monsters: To make the original movie more palatable to American moviegoers, it was edited, dubbed in English and incorporated additional foota…

Pioneer has demoed Apple CarPlay integration with its NEX dash systems as we draw closer to the final iteration of the experience. It's simple to get started: you just plug in an iPhone and the software opens automatically and takes over the car's display with CarPlay Pioneer will be loading Apple's in-car suite to both new and current hardware already available on the market. Once the iPhone is connected to the dash system, CarPlay makes it possible to access contacts, multimedia and other data stored on the smartphone through the car display – it's worth noting that CarPlay only works with the iPhone 5 or higher, running at least iOS 7.1. While not everyone has eno…

I have a good copy of XP that came on my computer, and I've used it without problems for years. Starting today, I get a message saying "You may be a victim of software counterfeiting." I know this is not true unless Hewlett-Packard counterfeits software. When I click "Change notification preferences," I do not get a chance to turn this notification off (it is very intrusive), but get a page where Microsoft (if it really IS Microsoft) *attempts* to validate my copy but can't do it. Whoever is really sending this demands that I download something (of course I won't) and "enable" ActiveX although it already is enabled for trusted sites, before they can "validate" my copy of…

I am trying to run an older game on my laptop, but it keeps asking me to set my monitor to thousands of colors. I have tried several ways to get this to work, but nothing has helped so far. I am running Windows 8 and have an approximately two year old Asus laptop. After some research, I believe that my problem lies with the newer operating system/graphics card, which refuse to support older graphics. If there is some sort of patch, update, or download that would help, I would appreciate it. Thanks! Continue reading...

I changed the password on my wireless router. Using Manage wireless networks I right click on the only Network profile there and change the password in the security tab. My PC now connects to the router successfully. However, when I start up the next day, the password in the network profile has reverted to the old password. I have extensively reviewed all the instructions on the Microsoft site and done the following: 1. Manage Wireless Networks, right click, Remove profile. List of profiles is now empty, then after a few seconds, the old profile reappears with old password. 2. In Manage Wireless Networks, create additional profile, so I have new profile with co…

My computer updated itself the night before last, well it was the 15th of May according to the updates. When I woke up, my computer was sitting at the login screen. I logged on, and received messages: "Windows doesnt know where to find program needed to run this______" and gave me option to search for it. Somewhere......I clicked on Chrome as an option (I had JUST woken up!!!!). Apparently there were quite a few programs I used often that needed my interaction in order for me to go back to using them. Actually I believe it is any executable file on the computer. By the way. My computer DID have an antivirus installe. Thats gone now. I downloade…

Last night, my computer was working just fine. I have an acer laptop with windows 8. Then, this morning, I was attempting to watch a youtube video, when the page sent me to this weird "google syndicate" thing, saying that there was an error. It asked if I wanted to fix the problem (I know this wasn't a hacker or something, it was my computer asking), so I clicked "fix the problem", it thought for a little bit, and then it said there was no problem. So I tried to load the video again and it did and said the exact same thing. Then, I tried to get on to facebook and it didn't work either. Then I went to my system settings and did all of those troubleshoot things, but t…

There is a listing for a download title of Vitamin D.exe and when it was downloaded, I was unaware that it was attacking/hacking/destroying/compromising my software programs in WIN8. Since that time, 6 May 2014, I have not been able to download updates for several programs, one such program is Adobe or the Microsoft Office. The Vitamin D.exe file is not listed in the programs to be uninstalled. Is this a harmful exe or can it just be deleted without having to uninstall it? I also cannot install/turn on/use/update WINDOWS DEFENDER. There are many more issues, but I can only remember them as I run across them. What is the problem and how do I fix these problems? Con…
