I am running Windows 7 64 Bit Notebook PC for almost three years. Of late, I have noticed that all my System Restore Points are being deleted. When I view the Event Viewer, an Error No: 14 shows with the comment " The Shadow Copies of Volume C: were aborted because of of an IO failure on Volume C " Please note : ~This does not happen on restart ~ Earlier I had configured the maximum usage to 1 % and after this issue I have raised it to 2% [ 4.73 GB ] ~ My Volume Shadow copy services is set to Manual... as was always ~ To clear the cache I have also tried System Protection Off/Restart/System Protection On/ Restart but to no avail. ~ I hav…

Platform: Windows 7 Professional (X64) fully up to date with service pack 1 and beyond The problem of flash drives that usually show up in Windows suddenly creating a problem by either not being detected properly or at all seems to be fairly well documented on the Internet but there are a plethora of so called solutions which do work for some and not for others. I have experienced this issue over the years and am still no closer to a definitive solution. Let me give you a few examples relating to both flash drives and USB connected hard drives I own. There are a few other flash drives which work perfectly and they are a mixture of new and older drives. Scenario 1 …

I was trying to connect to mt broadband connection; however I kept getting Error 797. I looked up online that the approach is to delete my old MS_Pppoe Miniport and reinstall it via WDK. I Downloaded it to a Window Drive Kit DVD and installed it, however when I try to put in the command in the command prompt "devcon.exe install c:\Windows\inf\netrasa.inf MS_PppoeMiniport" it gives me an error. Upon further research I discover it is because Window Drive Kit does not work for x64-bit system. The Question: Is there any way I can find a (devcon.exe) windows Drive Kit that is compatible for x64bit system or can I adjust my (devcon.exe) WDK to work for my x64-but system…

I'm sure originally, I had to right click on a selected action. I recently noticed when moving my cursor around a page, possible actions appear, which often block out the items I wish to select, until I move nearly right off the page. This is noticeable when travelling with my Acer Aspire one; I use the pad, as the wireless mouse I bought in Malaysia didn't work. Hope someone can help me turn this off, thanks, Williams. I'm a songwriter that creates songs in Music Creator 5 in my Dell latitude laptop. after I finalize a song, I make it a .wav file, and place it in the music folder in order to burn it regularly with WMP from the music folder. this is what I used to do on my previous Dell laptop, and the songs I composed previously. however, with this one, I'm having more trouble, and not being computer/technologically savvy, can't tell what am I doing wrong. presently, which is question number two, I'm trying to erase the listing of An Angel in the folder, but no matter what I've done, which is not much, I can't. below is a picture of how the folder looks at this time. I'm tryi…

This seems to be a common question, but I can't find an answer that would work for me. Am running Windows 8.1 on a new computer. (I bought it with pre-installed Windows 8 and upgraded it to 8.1 before doing anything else with it.) As of several days ago, Windows Defender (which is otherwise up and running) states: "Real-time protection is turned off. You should turn it on". When I click on "Turn on", after a few moments I get the answer "Real-time protection couldn't be turned on. This operation returned because the timeout period expired." The error code is 0x800705b4. I used to have a McAfee antivirus installed, but uninstalled it (using its own tool) an…

Both a colleague and I have both experienced similar problems over the last two days on out home PCs. In W8, when I try to access Control Panel from the pop up on the right hand side of the screen, it just 'glitches' and takes me to the tile (splash) page. Similar results when I try to access the Control Panel through file selection. Has anyone else experienced anything similar, and if so, do you know what the causeis? I recently had to delete a PUP (trovi search engine), but my friend had this happen out of the blue. Seems suspiciously like a virus. Any thoughts anyone? Cheers Alex Continue reading...

So maybe this is an odd question maybe not. I have a super simple program that will allow a user to input two numbers, and then the program will give the product of the two numbers. echo "Enter 2 numbers" read x read y let c=$x*$y echo "The product of $x and $y is: $c" My question is could I do the same thing my program above does with either case, while, until, or for loops? The reason I ask is because I'm trying to answer a lab question that asks me to write a short program that will allow a user to input two numbers, and then the program will give the product of the two numbers. (Which the above program does) But the lab also said at the beginning u…

There is only one company listed in your offers section, their offer is good but they don't have hosting servers in India. I have shortlisted Milesweb.com for the Linux hosting service because they can setup the account in India and offer 24/7 live support. It's the old, old story. Nest had Windows XP on her laptop and now it's been discontinued so she has no Internet access except for basic email from her phone. The machine is much too old to run Windows 7. Obviously it would run most Linux distros perfectly well, but I have no idea how you go about installing things on a laptop; I've never used one. There is no cdrom drive but I suppose there must be a possibility of booting from a pen-drive; according to Nest, there are several usb ports. What kind of image would I have to put on such a drive? Is it the same one as on a bootable cdrom or something different? We will be needing a live image so that we can check that it …
