Have been trying to install critical updates since before the official end of life on XP, so I can get older PC running properly. Will then transfer necessary files and retire it. Could not update/install .NET Framework 2.0 updates, so uninstalled (per support article), and ran MS Update again. Now, it wants to install 3.5, but that will not work either. I also get error msgs when trying to uninstall other programs, that Windows Installer is not working. Downloaded 4.5 ver, but no difference. Don't know if the updates will have an effect on Dell 4550 running super slow, but originally thought it was a good first step. I'd like to clean it up a bit, and …

The computer (an Asus laptop) couldn't boot ("Reboot and select proper boot device"), so I inserted the Windows 8 installation DVD and ran the Automatic Repair tool from the Advanced Options menu. It went through the Diagnosing phase quickly, and stayed in the Attempting Repairs phase for exactly 4 hours now. Is that even remotely normal? It never took it this long with previous versions of Windows. Should I wait for as long as it takes or can I just stop it by resetting the computer at some point, give up and attempt to perform a System Restore? Im having issues with driver updates on my computer. There seems to be an update which is causing the problem. I have had many failed updates. I can conect one of my hard drives no problems but when i plug others in my computer wont install them. Ive tried using mobile broadband but that wont work now. Hello, I am using your windows 7 for last 3 years with good services. But when i use windows 8/8.1 , After running sometime my screen turns solid color and unresponsive and then even shut down/restart button do not work, I have to power off the line. Hi. I own an Administrator account on Windows 7 x64. I don't really have one specific example of where the following happens since I see it at various locations. So, I guess that I'm just asking for some general wisdom instead: I attempt to access a folder. A dialogue box appears: "you don't currently have permission to access this folder. Click continue to get permanent access to this folder" Continue or Cancel As an Administrator, I am ABLE to continue. I just want to know if there's any reason that I SHOULDN'T as far as.....screwing something up? Does anyone know why an administrator account wouldn't be given full access to these kinds of folders …

Hello, the website v9.com keeps opening as if it was my default home page in Internet Explorer (it's not). My home page will open with the home icon fine, but when I start IE the V9 Portal Site always opens up. I have removed all of the programs linked to it and reset IE settings completely, but nothing is working so far. Also, strangely it only happens when I open IE with the Taskbar icon. After I updated my Windows 8.1 to 8.1 update, I notice that every time I boot up the Windows, an alert appears on top left corner showing Windows Defender is taking action to clean detected malware. At the beginning, I believe the Windows Defender is working very well. However, I did not see this alert before and now it appears every time I boot up the Windows. This may not be related to Linux, but since it only started happening after switching from Windows 7 to Linux I decided to post in these forums. Since the same problem happens with two (that I know of) different parts, I decided to make just one post in this chamber. It doesn�t make sense, but it does happen. At work I have no Internet connection that I have access to. Sometimes I will have only a short time to use it, so I won�t plug it in. I am trying to understand the implementation of TCP/IP stack in the linux kernel space. And I came across multiple-thing which I am not sure about. 1. What is meaning of non-linear sk_buff, and how does it differ from linear sk_buff? 2. If I want to get the timestamp option in the TCP header to obtain Timestamp value and timestamp reply, how can I extract it from sk_buff using tcphdr structure? 3.
