by Guest Joseph Keller- 0 replies

Apple is apparently rolling out some changes to the EasyPay point of sale system found in Apple Retail Stores, phasing out the current iPod touch and its card reader. EasyPay will instead utilize an iPhone 5s going forward. An updated credit-card reader will be attached to the devices, which will contain some kind of RFID functionality, along with the ability to read chip and PIN cards, according to 9to5Mac: Apple's upgrade to the iPhone 5s for employees brings new features via an upgraded point-of-sale sled that adds in RFID capabilities as well as chip and pin card reading functionality and improvements for Passbook scanning. Windows 8 Tile Solution...er.... Sugestion
by Guest RogerRPB- 0 replies
Ok Guys... this is genius redefined... so just do it already. Problem - right now all you can do is group your tiles then scroll endlessly looking for the app you want. If you're like me you have tiles for apps, legacy programs, links, you name it... and all we can do is swipe left and right until we find the group it's in... which is a pain in a touch screen tablet/pc and total **** in an older laptop (which is probably why so many want the old desktop back) Solution - COLLAPSE THE TILE GROUPS. With each "group tile" the size of a normal app tile you can see all you groups at once. click/tap on it and up pop the group tiles!!! this will work equally as well on your windo…

Legal way to reinstall windows
by Guest theking2- 0 replies
And again I had to reinstall Windows 8. This time the code I bought and payed for wasn't accepted, which is a disgrace to begin with. But also the phone in activation treated me as the licence robbing criminal I am not. Could mycrosoft either make their product reliable or refrain from obscure activation sequences when a totally legal customer is using it's products? I mean FY! If I buy a product it should be activated, right? And for crying out loud why do I have to download and install 1.Gbyte of updates before I can do a 8 to 8.1 conversion! What is wrong with you guys? After a couple of hours: I understand why BG sold most of it's shar…

by Guest Wisda- 0 replies

I recently imported photos from my iphone to "My Pictures" in a file named "2014-05-01". Now when I try to open a photo that someone else has sent me and view it with TWINUI, I get a screen with all the photos (small) in file "2014-05-01" and the new photo is nowhere to be found. I have looked throughout the screen for the new photo but can't find it. I have tried saving the photo and then opening it; same result. Same thing happens when I try to open ANY photo from My Pictures. Continue reading...

Can't rearrange the icons in my taskbar?
by Guest randomshtuffguy- 0 replies
Honestly, I think it's something much more sinister. I went on a site to download something a while ago. It was called Torrent (you may know of it.) What I didn't know was that the site was OVERRUN with malware, viruses, and PUP's. Ever since then, I've been having your problem. I've scanned with Microsoft Security Essentials and Malware-Bytes, (and detected malware I didn't know was there) but it is still happening. Other than that, I don't know. How do I properly identify if Microsoft Security Essentials are running on my computer?
by Guest leonlamar- 0 replies
I'm not seeing Microsoft Security Essentials referenced anywhere on my computer. How do I ensure that it was loaded, or loaded properly? I uninstalled MacAfee last year from my computer under programs install/uninstall, then loaded MS Security Essentials from a very confusing and redundant set of many sites MS apparently hosts. I'm not seeing color coded risk levels in taskbar security identifiers that are described by Microsoft support. Why doesn't Microsoft Corporation just call it all what it what it is, Microsoft Security Essentials. and place app in Programs where everything else that is loaded on my machine is? Frustration on the basics shouldn't exist in this day a…

Is there a way to stop MsMpEng from its huge commit size?
by Guest SamFisher83- 0 replies
I have virtual memory turned off since I don't want any paging. 8GB should be enough, but msmpeng has a commit size of 1.2GB. Why can't it ask for memory only when it needs it instead of just asking for so much memory just in case. Is there any way to limit this so it can only reserve x amount of memory. Continue reading...

Windows Defender Off-Line
by Guest richie_39- 0 replies
I have Windows 8.1 with update 1 (or however you phrase it) basically it's all up to date. And it's a 64-Bit machine. I just downloaded windows defender off line for 8.1 64 bit to a usb stick. Set the bios to boot from the USB stick first. It loaded windows defender offline. It done a quick scan then when it had finished there was no feedback. So I closed windows defender offline and it restarted my laptop. So I re-done the bios to not start from the USB stick and start how it used to. My question is why not feedback? Was there anything malicious found or not? What is the point of scanning my laptop and then not telling me if it found anything or not? Can s…

How to lower I/O priority for file copying operations?
by Guest starriol- 0 replies
Whenever I copy files from a disk to another on my personal Linux system, the OS stops responding appropriately, the UI starts behaving erratically, any movies I'm playing will freeze and continue until the file transfer is done. I don't care if the transfer takes longer, I'd like to throttle it down. I only copy files using Dolphin normally, so I'd need this system wide or at least be able to launch dolphin for this. I tried "ionice -c 3 dolphin", it had the same problem. I'm using Linux Mint KDE 16. Thanks for any ideas. Continue reading...

Linux Mint KDE 16 - Copy & paste shortcuts stopped working
by Guest starriol- 0 replies
Completely weird problem here. The primary keyboard shortcuts don't work. The secondary DO work. I can also copy & paste using mouse but who does that??? It worked until it stopped, I don't know what changed. The primary (CTRL+C/X/V) are configured as the defaults. I have a shortcut for a show desktop widget set to META + D, that doesn't work either. Copy & pasting works on Chromium, but not on Kate text editor, Dolphin, even on Yakuake (the terminal manager, there the shortcuts have an added shift, like CTRL + SHIFT + V) Any ideas? Thanks.
