"twunk_32.exe" issues with Windows Defender
by Guest ShawnWoods- 0 replies
Windows Defender keeps stalling when it tries to scan ( C:\Windows\twunk_32.exe ). I'm helping a friend out running different scans on his PC, but each time I try to Run a Scan with Windows Defender, it stops when it hits this file? Each time I come over to check out his PC, the Windows Defender says it's running, but it continues to STOP scanning when it reaches that file... I've run MalwareBytes Anti-spyware, along with his normal anti-virus, but neither of the programs catch it, or isolate it? So a bit perplexed.. After researching it, some sites say it's a virus, but other sites say it's not; and just leave it alone... Any insight into this issue would be…

idle rootkit
by Guest SobechukwuWarric- 0 replies

Hi there. I just discovered to my horror that my antivirus picked up a rootkit labelled Hidden application idle with a high seveity detection. It requests a restart to complete the clean up process which I did. After restart, I ran another rootkit scan and a different number of them were detected (initial number was 74 and its now 46). A third restart and clean up turned up 62 of them. I've read a lot of wierd things about Hidden application idle rootkit and my blood pressure is getting several notches higher. The system is getting slower everyday with the System process being greedier with Disk and CPU useage when I check my task manager. Any urgent assistance w…

Can't fix my 'file missing' logs
by Guest einoel12- 0 replies
Hello everybody, For the past couple of days I'm dealing with the same problem over and over again. I'm starting up a program (in this case it is a game) and the same message pops up each time I start the game. It says the following message "The instruction on 0xac5c4cd7 refers to memory on 0x0000002c. A read- or write operation on the memory failed: read. Click OK if you want to close the program" I've checked for viruses and other junk and deleted it all. But I still got the same error, so I checked my logs and I saw that there were many logs with the 'file missing' message. So I 'fixed checked' but it didn't change anything. So now is my question, ho…

(Hope this helps, its my first post on these forums and sorry if my English sucks.) This is a guide for joining a domain on Ubuntu. May work on other debian-based distributions. When I was trying to join a domain the first try I kept on getting errors I can't post the error code here right now because I was doing this at my work place and don't have a domain at home. So I decided to post the solution here. Step 1: (we will be using the terminal for the whole tutorial so if you don't want to be typing sudo at the start of each command I suggest you type Quote: sudo -s so that every command will be run as super user/root. Remove Avahi. (this created the prob…

The system is running in low-graphics mode
by Guest EightBitZach- 0 replies

I get an error on start up which says: "The system is running in low-graphics mode Your screen, graphics card, and input device settings could not be detected correctly. You will need to configure these yourself." I am running Ubuntu Desktop (newbie I know) version 12.04 (I tried the newest version 14.04 first but the GUI was extremely laggy) I have looked around and found a lot of topics. I have tried all the methods I saw and I have had no success. This started after I had some trouble in the OS with killing some terminal tasks for Minecraft and I backed everything up to a flash drive and held the power button on the machine to shut it off and this has been…

Choosy aims to let developers enable default apps on iPhone and iPad
by Guest Rene Ritchie- 0 replies
iOS currently offers no way to set third-party App Store apps as default on the iPhone or iPad. In other words, tapping on a link opens Safari and you can't make it open Chrome instead. Choosy, an open-source framework by Substantial's Alex Novosad, aims to let developers offer a work around in their own apps: All of this relies on UIApplication's canOpenURL method. (Oh the things we could do if we had two API methods!) We store a list of URL schemes and their building blocks for each app on a server (in a GitHub repository right now), categorizing apps by type. Choosy downloads that info as needed. Developers code to an app-agnostic interface where they just specif…

Apple bringing 8GB iPhone 5c to India
by Guest Rene Ritchie- 0 replies
Apple will be bringing the 8GB version of the iPhone 5c to India in the coming weeks. During Apple's Q2 2014 conference call, CEO Tim Cook said that Indian iPhone sales had more than doubled. India is an emerging market where many of the "next billion" smartphone customers are expected to come from, and getting a lower cost version of Apple's pop-art-inspired mid-tier iPhone makes a lot of sense. Especially for customers who don't need to cary around a lot of media with them but do want access to messaging apps and the mobile web. The 8GB iPhone 5c first launched back in March in the U.K, and later expanded to several other countries in eastern and western Europe. Th…

How to easily backup (and restore) using Backblaze or CrashPlan
by Guest Peter Cohen- 0 replies
Backing up with Time Machine? That may not be enough. Time to think about offsite backup, too Time Machine or another similar tool for OS X should be your first line of backup defense for your Mac. You should always have a way to recover if you delete an important file or if your hard drive fails. But backup hard drives can go bad, even the one in Apple's Time Capsule. What's more, if you have a major catastrophe, like a major robbery, house fire or natural disaster, you may not be able to restore from that backup. What do you do then? One solution is to use an offsite backup service. Backblaze and CrashPlan are two of the more popular services available for Mac users.…

There will be news around Azure and cloud services as well as device management. With the release of final tools and people taking a fresh look at mobility in the enterprise, I thought I’d take this opportunity to highlight all we’ve done…

Hi! I'm using Windows 8.0 Pro 64bits on Asus Pro55SR (almost the same hardware as Dell Studio 1525/1535: CPU: T5750 Core2Duo Centrino, 4GB DDR2 667MHz, ATI Mobility HD3470, 250 GB SATA Hitachi HDD). There's no problem with drivers or software running win8.0, but there's a problem upgrading to Windows 8.1 and there's two situations: 1. Clean install - Windows logo apear but when the spinning bar start rolling - BSOD - The installer doesn't even start. 2. Upgrade from fully updated Windows 8.0 (upgrade made from Windows Store or DVD) - is loading / installing / finishing / need to restart. After reboot, it says that's an error (0x101 - 0x20017) and the system i…
