Hello, I have a very big problem with my computer. Here are some of the details: A message pops-up randomly that says, "You will be logged off in less than a minute." I have just encountered this error a few days ago and now I am getting frustrated, is it a virus or a error? (Or something else?) I have tried opening command prompt and typing 'sfc/scannow' as suggested by another user, but it found no 'errors.' I have tried the program 'Advanced System Care' and it found no viruses, and Microsoft Security Essentials and that found no viruses. I am currently running on Windows 64-bit. -Thanks and Cheers! (The 'error' cannot be ignored, there is no way for me t…

My mother has windows 7. Shorty after starting a full scan (around file 80,000) the scan starts to slow way down. It goes so slow that it will take several hours to get to file 84,000. Shortly after, it freezes all together. I know she probably has a virus or mal-ware causing this but have no idea how to fix the computer. What do I do? Continue reading...

I am trying to run a bprestore on netback client 7.5 to a different folder, but can't seem to find the proper way to do a restore to a different folder. I can do it of course using the GUI client. ex. want to restore /home/dir1 , but want to actually save it to /home/dir2 /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bprestore -L /tmp/restore.log /home/dir1 /home/dir2 That doesn't seem to work, so i may be missing a parameter, that I cannot find. Thanks in advance :) Continue reading...

I just loaded Ubuntu up on a live USB and it was a bit flaggy, but the little wireless USB stick that I had for it worked, and I was able to access the internet. Now I've loaded Lubuntu onto the Live USB instead, and it seems to be running much better but the wireless stick doesn't seem to be doing anything? I'm not sure what I'm meant to do - or how to trouble shoot whether this is a driver issue or what not... Or if there's a more manual set up that I'm meant to do with Lubuntu. cheers! Sky TV's popular mobile service, Sky Go, just got more useful for football fans on the go by adding ITV to its list of supported channels just in time for the Fifa World Cup. Or, if you're just into regular TV, you'll be well taken care of by the other channels since it includes ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4 and CITV. In addition, the Sky exclusive ITV Encore channel will also be available when it launches, and customers also get access to a ton of ITV box-sets and on-demand content. The channels should be added to the service today, so go ahead and fire up Sky Go on your phone or tablet and take a look. Source: Sky Continue reading...

4K monitors could be about to get a whole lot less expensive as Intel has announced a partnership with Samsung to produce units retailing this year for $399. Currently pairing up your Mac with a 4K monitor can be an expensive business with prices stretching into the thousands. But at Computex, in Taiwan, the collaboration with Samsung was announced to bring the cost of panels down by half. Over time Intel also plans to work alongside TDP and Viewsonic to achieve the same goal of moving the 4K monitor prices down to $399. They're also promising that these displays won't be some cheap and nasty products either, with 60Hz refresh and 100% sRGB color gamut promised. Sure…

Swift, Apple's new programming language billed as taking the C out of Objective-C, was one of the biggest surprises at WWDC 2014. The Swift project started at Apple roughly 4 years ago as one of several explorations into what would replace the NeXT-era Object-C language. It was spearheaded by Chris Lattner, head of Apple's developer tools department, who also spearheaded LLVM (lower level virtual machine) and Clang, Apple's compiler technologies. Lattner shared some insight into Swift on his site, nondot: I started work on the Swift Programming Language (wikipedia) in July of 2010. I implemented much of the basic language structure, with only a few people knowing of…

What are you most excited about in iOS 8? We're now a full day removed from the torrent of information Apple threw at us at WWDC 2014 concerning iOS 8, and hopefully by now most folks will have had chance for most of it to sink in a little. There are so many different features to get excited about that it's probably hard to pick a favorite. But we're going to ask anyway. What are you most excited about in iOS 8? Does iCloud Drive give you the cloud storage solution you've been hankering for? How about the impressive new Messages features? Perhaps you're most keen on Continuity, the enhanced synchronicity between your iPhone, iPad and and Mac? Something else? We're…

Still running Windows XP Pro SP3 (because my old CAD software doesn't want to play nice with Win7 or Win8.1). Cannot delete a file named "NUL" (without the quotes). It is in a subdirectory which I was able to rename and move to the root of the drive, but the file in that subdirectory simply can't be deleted. I tried encrypting the file and get "Error Applying Attributes" E:\junk\NUL The parameter is incorrect. Doing "dir /x" simply lists the file as NUL (so no hidden characters). Can't rename the file, "ren NUL something" returns "Parameter is incorrect". Can't do anything from Windows Explorer, just error messages whenever I try to delete the file or the directory. From…

I have had Publisher 97 for a number of years and have learnt to live with it. Actually I love it! I got Window 7 recently and put this on it and it works ok but on my XP machine it has a problem that relates to publisher not closing properly. When a .pub file is re-opened I get the "The file is being used by another running instance of Publisher. Try closing other instance or saving your work in those instances; then try again." . I have seen other with the same problem. For a long time I had no solution to getting out of this problem. Then one day I used the Ctrl + Alt and Delete to get Task Manager running, I looked down the list of programs and found s…

I downloaded the latest version of iTunes (11.2.2.) it opens but does not play my music, doesn't download or Burn CDs nor allow access to the iTunes Store because Windows 'encounters a problem' and asks for a report to be sent, and then closes. I'm using WindowsXP Home Edition so obviously the report is now ignored by Windows as they are no longer concerned with XP. Is this a Windows' problem or is it an iTunes problem ....has anyone got a solution? Continue reading...

I've got a bluetooth speaker and it works fine with my iphone. I've tried to connect it to my laptop but it seems like it doesn't find any bluetooth devices. I also tried to find a solution on the internet, updated my driver. select starting bluetooth support service automatically. Then I came across one solution which is about changing the service logon settings. Now, I suppose to choose 'This account' and type LOGON SERVICE. Then, there is a string of password appears. The other solution said to delete the password completely and then apply the setting. Here's the problem. I've deleted the password and also delete the one in confirm password field …
