I recently built a computer. I tried to install windows with a cd that I purchased with the parts for the computer. Everything was working out well until it froze while it was installing windows. I thought it wasn't a big deal, so I waited a couple hours to see if it would unfreeze and continue installing. It was still frozen on the same spot so I turned off the computer and tried to install again. After the Windows logo appeared and said "Start windows", a black screen appeared with only my cursor showing. I can move the cursor with my mouse but it still doesn't work. I really need the computer to start working ASAP. Please if you know the solution to this, plea…

I am running a Dell Inspiron N5030 with a Windows 7 Home Premium Operating System. My laptop has worked well for the last 4 years (except 6 months ago I had to replace the hard drive. Then all of a sudden my laptop shuts down and I turn it back on and it does startup repair and finds says that it can't automatically fix the problem. I check the details and it says that the root cause is a corrupt registry. Some of the repair actions is said it did was a Registry rollback but it had an error code 0x0 It won't start in safe mode and I can't do a system restore and it won't let me do a sfc \scannow. Almost everytime I try a chkdsk it stops at a certain point. It also won;t st…

A warning for online bankers
by Guest hazel- 0 replies
When you bank online, you usually make transfers by entering a sort code and account number. And it's rather easy to make a mistake in one of those numbers. If the result corresponds to an actual account, your money will go into that account. But what happens then? Is there any way of getting the money back? Your bank will, at your request, contact the recipient's bank and they will contact the recipient and explain to him that the money was paid to him in error and that he should return it. If he refuses to do so, neither your bank nor the recipient's bank (if different) are in any way responsible for what has happened. They merely followed your instructions. As lo…

X Distro looks pretty sleek, probably has a future to it. I don't know about StratOS. It will be interesting to see what comes of it. Reminds me of iMagicOS, kind of. Anyone know whatever happened to Workbench and LapisLinux? Too bad OzOs was discontinued. Continue reading...

Greetings, fellow Linux users!

Hello, and good day or whatever time it is where you currently are. :) I'm 15 years old, Linux user for 4 years (my first distro was Ubuntu 10.04) and I've loved every moment. Switching to Linux was the last resort on my fight against malware I got my PC infected with. Thinking about it now, I'm so glad for that. I've tried too many different distros, but I've been in love with Arch for some time now. My other hobbies include, well... programming (though I'm no expert), which I started few years ago but lost my interest in it pretty quickly, but I've recently been interested in it again. And I also like to watch movies and TV series. Sometimes I go running. I'm also…

Moscone Center gets decked out with iOS 8 and WWDC banners
by Guest Chris Parsons- 0 replies
WWDC is set to kick off June 2-6, in San Francisco but the Moscone Center is already getting decked out for the party. As captured by Business Insider's Jay Yarrow, the WWDC 2014 banners have gone up and unsurprisingly, so has an iOS 8 banner. As expected, the banners don't give away much of anything really aside from using the oceanic background most folks are familiar with and it has an 8 on alluding to iOS 8. But, new things are exciting and all will be revealed soon enough! Continue reading...

by Guest Allyson Kazmucha- 0 replies

If you own an iPhone and an Apple TV, it's easy to wirelessly beam your photos to the big screen using AirPlay. You can also use your own Photo Stream photos as your screen saver instead of the stock photos that come on your Apple TV. The best part is that as you take photos, they'll automatically update and you'll always have new and fresh photos for people to see! How to enable Photo Stream on your iPhone The first thing you'll need to do is make sure Photo Stream is enabled on your iPhone. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad. Tap on iCloud. by Guest T Hunt- 0 replies

I have a Epson D68 Printer connected to via USB to a XP Desktop which connects using a network cable to our Wireless BT Homehub, my XP Netbook cannot get the printer to print, there are two other computers that connect to the Printer through the wireless network and have no problems printing (XP and 7). I have installed the Printer onto my XP Netbook, data is sent to the receiving XP Desktop, (usually it displays that it has received nearly all the data), but the printer will not print. Driver install was fine. I connected to the network by using the same name, but not using a network setup disk from the original network setup as I no longer have it. A…

Safe Mode Loop
by Guest Jim Carrey- 0 replies

My Refurbished Dell Latitude D600 has an issue, where the computer goes to a black screen, and tells me to enter Safe Mode, Start Windows normally, etc. I tried every option, but the computer only started loading, and then it went back to the same screen. I used F8 during loading to get to the blue "Technical Information" screen, by reading information I learned from another FAQ on this site. I have information from the "*** STOP" line. It says: *** STOP: 0x000000ED (0x8A91A628, 0xC000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) If you can tell me what this means, and how to fix it, that would be great. Thanks in advance! Continue reading...
