It is Windows XP Pro and the product key is on the label. I want to stick with XP for now. Is there anywhere I can download the installation disc onto a CD? Continue reading...

Original Title : Desktop Background Issues Hello, I am curious as to figure out how to change my background, it only displays a green-type wallpaper and when I try to change it, it stays green. I have tried multiple times to change the picture, and restore the back ground to its default settings. Not sure what else to try, any suggestions would be beneficial. Thanks! Update: I can click on my desktop items, but they aren't displaying on my screen. When I hover over the icon, being as I know where it is from memory, only the information on the file pops up. Got the Blue Screen of Death? Refer to here!
by Guest Matteh.C- 0 replies

Hi, Let me quickly say. If you are Overclocking your Computer, Pushing it more than what It is capable of, TURN IT OFF NOW. Overclock pushes your Computer past its limits and that is why it "Prevents Windows from doing Damage" as quoted when you get the Blue Screen. Just putting this out there. Over the past 5-8 Month I have been packed with so much research on the Blue Screen of Death and where It comes from. I understand you're going to be very frustrated and that Is why you have come here. If you're in a panicking situation and you're thinking you have broke the PC, you most likely haven't. Unless you got a hammer and smashed a few of the insides to corr…

Deleting Folders and Files in %Temp%
by Guest Newcomer 7- 0 replies
Can I delete all files and folders in %temp% + C:\Windows\Temp? In the past, someone in my mobile broadband provider used remote control to delete all the temporary files for me as list above. After that, I also did it myself. However, I still want to seek some reassurance that it is OK to do so. One of the reasons is that Disk Cleanup does not remove all folders and files in these locations.... so I think it's better to ask before I do it again. Advice, please? Continue reading...

Been happing for a while now, I've reinstalled windows on a new SSD and it was find but today the problem came back, i guess it has to be something to do with my hardware. i have check the RAM with Memtest86+ and ran tests with Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility and they came back all good. I think it might be the Power supply can't handle the overclocked settings CPU: Intel Core i5 4670K 3.40GHz Haswell Quad Core CPU overclocked to 4.0GHz (was 4.2GHz but was blue screening because of heat or/and the Power supply i think ) Motherboard: MSI Z97-G43 (Socket 1150) ATX Motherboard Corsair Vengeance Blue 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-15000C9 1866MHz 2x 1T HDD samsung…

Cannot Remove s.m2pub.com Adware
by Guest JJamaLL- 0 replies
Hello. I recently picked up adware that I could have sworn that I opted out of when trying to install a program that was only designed for tablets and smartphones. I've ran Security Essentials and it removed everything but this adware, I've even installed another program alongside it that couldn't detect the adware. It's not present in the control panel menu or in any browser extensions. How do I get rid of this and could this be why my Internet Explorer will no longer load up and Windows Defender encounters error 0x800106ba when I try to turn it on? Continue reading...

Microsoft Security Essential not updating and scanning outgoing to incoming emails
by Guest FrankAshleigh- 0 replies
I have now un-installed MSE. The reason; in the time it was installed, it did not once automatically download an update, nor did it carry out the scheduled weekly scan. I do not know if incoming and outgoing emails were scanned for virus as I did not receive any notification that they were, nor did the recipiants and when I tried to contact M.S.'Help' I was told that it is no longer available. That was the last straw. On installing a different anti-virus, it did a full scan and found seven items that should be removed. Not a good recommendation. MSE obviously is no longer installed. Hi, I would like to introduce you to my open-source RSTP/MSTP library: code.google.com/p/mstp-lib It's completely platform-independent C++. I wrote it myself and I've been using it in firmware for some embedded systems, both Linux-based and bare metal (no OS). I'm looking to get people to know about it and actually use it their projects. Just like that, I don't expect anything in exchange. :) (Though I'd greatly value any feedback.) Thanks, Adi Continue reading...

WWDC 2014: A love letter from Apple
by Guest Rene Ritchie- 0 replies
WWDC 2014 was a love letter from Apple. Not just to customers, not just to developers, not just to partners or media or any one specific group, but to everyone who makes up the community. It was a love letter not from a "new Apple" but from an Apple as integrated, empowered, and energized as the event itself. All of this was the result of decisions and directions months and years in the making, carefully, exhaustingly brought together this past week at Moscone West in San Francisco, California. Surprising, delighting, and amazingly dense, here's what happened and what it all means. Roughly a year and a half ago Apple was reorganized into clean, clear, collaborative gro…

When you're creating an event or appointment in the iPhone or iPad Calendar app, you might want to add other people to it, and alert them about it. That's where invitations come in. TestFlight in iOS 8: Explained
by Guest Nick Arnott- 0 replies
Beta testing apps has long been a pain point for iOS developers. So it's no surprise that the announcement of TestFlight as part of iOS 8 was met with much fanfare at WWDC 2014. Since Apple's acquisition of Burstly (makers of TestFlight), there has been a lot of speculation and hope that Apple could finally release a more friendly solution for handling the distribution of beta apps. TestFlight marks a significant advancement for Apple in that area, and a welcome change for developers. TestFlight vs. ad hoc distribution Most people only ever install apps on their devices by way of the App Store. For people in the business of making apps, another method is frequentl…
