Hi I reinstalled XP to my laptop as it keeps showing the blue screen or the screen will just hang after a while. After reinstalling, the same happens so I thought it could be a motherboard problem. I tried with a 'safe mode' login and the laptop doesn't hang and no blue screen. So, I believe there must be some software problem. I accidentally unpluged both ov my external drives, and now the computer does not respond to them because the error message from File History is "can store files because your drive is disconnected. Ant the other external drive is not turned on so I cannot backup files on it!. The first drive here is drived is drive (G:) and was set up as my History Drive and was working fine. I've been trying to get the following automatic updates to install with no success: KB2957509 KB2957189 KB2939576 KB2800095 KB2957689 The update installation has run many times and the following happens: the update says all 5 has installed successfully and I must reboot, I restart the pc, and see the configuring % that looks like it is successful at least once if not twice, then I see: Failure configuring updates, reverting changes... On "C" I have Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit On "D" I have Windows 7 Enterprise 64-Bit Following advice in an Avast e-mail to Restart my Enterprise in Safe Mode, it has now gone into a cycle of endless Restarts. The computer Restarts just before I reach the Desktop. I have run StartUp Repair three times and also tried System Restore. As a last resort, I have attempted to re-install Windows Enterprise but get a blank screen (not quite black, more dark grey) immediately after the Press any key to boot from CD/DVD screen.
