Store app isn't working for me.
by Guest AllenAdkins_789- 0 replies

I accidentally memory wiped my Windows 8 PC the other day (got just about everything back), and now every app that came with my PC except the Store app is gone. To make matters worse it refuses to work after i click on it: all I get is the loading screen, then it takes me back to the Start screen. So how does it work? Because this is actually my first time using this app, and I read online that this is bascially the only way to get them back. So any advice for me? By the way, I used the troubleshooter and it says that the Store App is somehow corrupt... Continue reading...

On my windows 8 hp laptop i have trouble logging in. (or something like that at least) (occasionally i get a password is incorrect message) and after putting in the exact same password 5 or 6 times I finally log in. I am certain it's the correct one. I tried going to acount.live.com but it didn't help. It's been like this for a few months and really annoying. I can log onto the website just fine. Continue reading...

Windows Remote Apps won't connect from one machine
by Guest IT Arrows TX- 0 replies

I have setup Remote apps on a server and have about 12 machines connecting to http://server.domainname.com/rdweb. They all connect fine, login and see the apps being published to them. However, one machine can not launch the applications. No matter who logs onto the machine no matter what browser you use. When you click on an application, it says remote desktop can't connect to the remote computer. DNS is right, the machine right next to it works fine. Please let me know what I am missing. Microphone Issue
by Guest Texas Doll- 0 replies
Hello :D First, my microphone is NOT "disabled." I've been to the Sound settings and Device Manager, everything is just fine, no pesky exclamations, nada! AND the microphone IS "enabled." It's also plugged into a working plug. :) The com ports are working, too. No IRQ issues to report. The other evening my husband and I were talking about how hackers can turn on microphones and video cameras. My exceptional husband showed me another way (besides the standard enable/disable) to turn off the microphone so that it -can't- be turned on by a hacker. It was something in the Windows software settings and pretty much took the mic out of my hardware loop. *sighs* …

Windows fails to recognize external HDD during system recovery
by Guest XDLugia- 0 replies

Hi. Because of the rules at my school, Our computers had to be reset completely before we could take them home as Our own property. The thing is that beforehand, I made a system image (backup) on an external hard drive so that I could recover my PC and make it the way it was. Anyway, the thing is that now when I try to recover from an image, the PC fails to see my hard drive. I did Select the option for "restore by system image" in the Control panel and rebooted from there. Next I Select "Select a system image" and press Next. The list comes up With nothing, so I try to refresh it and nothing happens. It tells me to install correct drivers and the system32 folde…

Random shut down issue :/ WTH.... For some unknown reason, recently, my desktop computer has been shutting down randomly while in use and I do not have a clue what the issue could be. The thing is with my issue, is that windows perfoms a proper shut down..... I.E. All my programs close, then the windows screen comes up with the message "shutting down" as if I've gone to the task bar and clicked "shut down" myself. which I haven't Only thing thats happened recently is that I reinstalled windows 7 64 bit, as I previ…

I have down loaded WD Beta to a flash drive, cd and neither will do what it says it will do! According to the instructions once you have loaded the software; either by flash drive or cd, put the item into either the cd drive or usb for flash drive, restart the computer and it will run from there. NOT I keep getting an annoying item CPVRDR accessing my internet connection re-directing me to another site. I have tried Windows Defender, Spidre, AVG etc; to no avail. I saw about the Beta and said YES, but that lasted 2 seconds because it will not do what it says it will do. I have tried to change the boot, to no success and at the point of pulling out what litt…

I'm having random troubles with my laptop and have just posted a question about a recent error. I think the problems are occurring because of viruses I don't don't know exactly. At the moment I'm scanning my laptop using AVIRA. I've refreshed my laptop several times but I don't think it has done the trick. I want a method of scanning my system completely and find all the problems in it and a method of removing them. Any advice? Continue reading...

Linux client connection refused on port 80
by Guest boomer11- 0 replies

Greetings, I have a C program running on linux that I am using to try to connect to a server (on the same network) to pull some data. I have freeware that does the hardwork (creates the socket, connects, reads/writes). I am trying to connect over port 80 (http). At the time of the socket "connect" I get a "connection refused" (looking at errno). Why would this be? Curious that when I use port 8443 the connection is made. Why would I get a connection refused on port 80? I ran chkconfig and I dont have iptables enabled. Is there some other linux security feature that can block me reaching out to another host on port 80? thanks, Bill Continue reading...

Cheap iMac torn-down, memory still not upgradeable
by Guest Chuong H Nguyen- 0 replies
A tear down of Apple's new lower priced $1,099 iMac desktop reveals that, not suprisingly, the memory is not upgradeable. Users who purchase the system will be left stuck with the 8 GB of RAM that the device ships with as the RAM is soldered onto the logic board and cannot be swapped out for higher capacity modules. Additionally, users who opt for this model cannot choose a build-to-order option with more memory. If you want more memory beyond the 8 GB, you would have to choose the next iMac model up. That model starts at $1,299 with the same amount of RAM but with better hardware specs. Choosing to increase the RAM on a build-to-order option on that model will take …
