Windows 8 file explorer crashes on long searches
by Guest Bobmdva- 0 replies

I am experiencing frequent crashes of file explorer (Windows 8) when doing long searches (thousands of folders and files). Otherwise searches are running okay. Are there guidelines for the limit on number of items that file explorer can handle without having this problem. When explorer crashes there is no error message it just suddenly disappears, get a blank green screen for an instant, and then back to the desktop. After it crashes I can restart explorer, but any subsequent searches will crash after only a few seconds, until I reboot. I suspect it is running out of memory for the internal files it maintains, but that's only a guess. Any help greatly appreciated.…

Can/will Microsoft make this an improvement/enhancement to " Print Directory Listing" for Windows Explorer, ASAP ??? Will a Microsoft representative respond here???? Continue reading...

I'm on ubuntu 14.04 LTS (64-bit) and i've installed the libpci-dev (1:3.2.1-1ubuntu5) package too. Here is my test.c: Code: #include <pci/pci.h> int main(int argc, char *argv[]){ struct pci_access *pci = pci_alloc(); pci_cleanup(pci); return 0; } And the compiler output: Code: /home/dark/Temp/libpci-test# make gcc -O3 -Wall -c test.c gcc -O3 -Wall -lpci -o test test.o test.o: In function `main': test.c:(.text.startup+0x5): un…

UK government to make mobile operators share towers to boost signal in rural areas
by Guest Rich Edmonds- 0 replies
- 415 views
UK mobile operators could be made to share networks in rural areas where signal is weak, under plans to provide better services to consumers from all network operators. Ministers have put forward the plan to prevent situations where only one or two major operators are available in certain parts of the country, providing consumers with more choice as to who they wish to hold a contract with. This is before the UK (and EU in general) look at 5G in years to come. It's no secret that the UK suffers from blackspots dotted throughout the country. The idea is to allow consumers to switch between companies, regardless as to where they're located, much like how international …

Apple manufacturers hire more staff in preparation for the iPhone 6
by Guest Rich Edmonds- 0 replies
- 403 views
Foxconn and Pegatron have started recruitment drives that will see the two manufacturers increase their workforce by a significant amount to support production of the iPhone 6. According to Taiwan's Economic Daily News, Foxconn will be looking to add 100,000 people in mainland China, while Pegatron will expand its current numbers by 30 percent. Recruitment drives prior to an iPhone launch isn't news in of itself, but the numbers shared show just how much hype is anticipated for Apple's next smartphone. The publication also notes that while Pegatron will produce around 30 percent of the next iPhone, Foxconn will manufacturer the main bulk of units leading the manufact…

Editor's desk: The biggest advantage iPhone and iPad have over Android and Amazon
by Guest Rene Ritchie- 0 replies
- 356 views
You can pay with money. You can pay with time. You can pay with attention. You can pay with data. Depending on what you have the most of, and what holds the greatest value to you, there exists options to meet your price. Apple and Amazon want your money. Open source wants your time. Facebook and Google want your attention and your data. Sometimes this results in discord. Sometimes in harmony. I'd argue that, with the iPhone, they exist in harmony. Apple charges a premium price for it and, because people willing to pay that price are highly valuable, everyone include Amazon and Facebook and Google want their attention-grabbing services front and center so they can collect …
