Apple has partnered with China Telecom to store the iCloud data of customers in China. This is part of Apple's efforts to asuage the concerns raised by China over data security. The company is Apple's sole partner for iCloud data storage in China for now. Apple says that China Telecom won't have access to its data, according to the Wall Street Journal: But the company said Friday in a statement to The Wall Street Journal that all data stored is encrypted, meaning China Telecom won't have access to its content. Sprint's new CEO Marcelo Claure has only been on the job four days now, but has already called an all-hands meeting to lay out his first initiatives at the head of the carrier. Following criticism over the inaccuracies of its Maps application when it initially launched, Apple is making strides in addressing complaints. In its latest move ahead of the launch of iOS 8 to consumers, the iPhone-maker has poached away Nokia HERE executive Torsten Krenz to help fix Apple Maps. Phil Schiller, Apple's long time senior vice president of worldwide marketing, is the latest person to pour a bucket full of ice water on his head. It's part of a growing viral campaign to help fund research, and raise awareness of, into amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as motor neuron disease or Lou Gehrig's disease. Schiller used his Twitter account to post three images of himself pouring the ice water bucket on himself. A short while ago Philips announced its first white light only bulbs in its Hue range, the Lux. Now at least things have progressed far enough that we can pre-order the Lux bulbs for shipping in late September. They lose out on some of the razzle dazzle of the regular Hue bulbs in losing the colors but in doing so the price has come down quite a bit. As streaming music services gain precedence over digital downloads, Sony is seeking to reverse the trend with its "Album of the Day" app for the iPhone and iPod touch. Through the app, Sony will be offering a discount of up to 70 percent on a new album every day. Users will be able to purchase the album on iTunes, with the app highlighting the standard[ price, the discounted price and the time left to claim the deal.
