Windows 7 mouse and keyboard freeze
by Guest SomeoneZP- 0 replies
This is the second time I've had my mouse and keyboard freeze up on, I don't really remember how I fixed the problem in the past, but it happened again. I've searched all over and none of the solutions helped. The device manager never showed any problems except once, but I don't recall what stopped working. I don't want to mess around the BIOS because I don't want to brick and I'd to keep using this mouse as long as possible. I'm using a HID Compliant Keyboard along with a USB Microsoft Comfort Mouse 4500. It seems to appear more frequently when I load large YouTube videos, for what it's worth. Continue reading...

THIS IS A WARNING ABOUT ALL MICROSOFT PRODUCTS
by Guest reece8765- 0 replies

WARNING! If you receive a phone call AT ANY TIME saying: "You may have downloaded a suspicious file from the internet" "You may have a malicious file on your computer." AND/OR "This is the windows security department" OR ANYTHING SIMILAR DO NOT continue to do as they say! It is a scam, I know this because I have just received a call about it! What they do They ask for remote control on your computer/laptop that you're using, how they do that is they get you to download a genuine software called TeamViewer. This allows friends, family or trusted technicians to access your computer to solve a problem. HOWEVER in this case they use it to goto another remote access …

Make it so FTP login path is not the same as a user's home directory
by Guest justinwyllie- 0 replies
Hi I have just set up Key authentication for my server which seems like a good idea. As part of that I have created a file .ssh/authorized_keys under my user's home directory. This file is writable by the owner which is what the instructions I used to set up Key authentication told me to do. However if I (an attacker) FTP into the system with that user's account I end up in the home directory. I could then over-write this private key file with one of my choosing. I am a beginner so I expect I am missing something. But this seems to me undesirable. If someone can obtain the FTP password they could just swap out the private key for one of their own to which the…

If I have a table with fields in it, eg "Item", and I have a "date" field, I want to store the date next to an item, and then, if I want, get the table data sorted by the date, i.e. I'll know which item was sold the newest. How do I put the date into the table, and how do I order it by date in the SQL statement? Thanks. Continue reading...

Opening mail server to outside
by Guest Toasterman- 0 replies

Sorry if I seem like a noob. Our manager got laid off and I'm not a Linux expert by any means. I need to be able to send and receive email addresses from our internal server over the internet. The email server is already set up and has its own registered domain name. Although it works fine from my phone, the exact same settings on my laptop give errors. Receiving email works fine but sending does not. Another employee in the company has the exact same issue with sending. Normally 143 is receiving and 587 is sending. This is the error I get: Quote: An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Authentication required for connections on TCP port 587…

Samsung's latest Galaxy S5 ad pokes fun at iPhone battery
by Guest Simon Sage- 0 replies
Samsung's latest Galaxy S5 ad takes square aim at iPhone users, particularly as they're huddled around the few wall outlets scattered around an airport. Meanwhile, smug S5 owners can switch on ultra power saving mode or pop in an extra battery pack. Samsung has had some ads in the past along the same vein, and even the more recent ads still put Apple squarely in their sights. Even if these are well done (and many argue they're not), there are still plenty of people that are perfectly happy with their iPhone battery life. Funnily enough BlackBerry CEO John Chen called iPhone users wall huggers back in March, as pointed out by Jordan Kahn. What do you guys think of …

Facebook Messenger for iPad is here!
by Guest Adam Zeis- 0 replies

Facebook's standalone Messenger app has finally arrived on iPad. Previously a blown-up version of the iPhone app was available for tablet users, but now the iPad gets its very own Messenger app, complete with multi-window interface. You can view your current conversation in one pane alongside a list of recent threads. No new features to tag along (that we can see anyway) so it's the same Facebook Messenger that you know and love. Chats, photos, stickers, voice messages, group conversations — they're all here. Of course it's also free which is always a good thing. The app is showing for some, but not for others, so if you don't see it yet be sure to check back in a…

Action extensions in iOS 8: Explained
by Guest Rene Ritchie- 0 replies
Share Sheets in iOS have another name behind the scenes — activity view controllers. That's fitting because, in addition to providing sharing options, they also provide for other "activities", like action options. Traditionally, that's been system options such as copy, save, print, etc. However, just like custom sharing options have now been made available in iOS 8, so too have custom action options. They're part of the new Extensibility feature set, one of the most important additions to iOS since the advent of the App Store. Extensibility enables Widgets, custom keyboards, and so much more, including custom action extensions. So, how do action extensions work? Action…

Infinity Blade, Infinity Blade 2, and Infinity Blade 3 are all seeing some solid price cuts to commemorate Independence Day. These one-on-one dueling games have set the bar for graphics on iOS time and again, not to mention offering some fast, furious, and finger-friendly gameplay. We certainly think it's one of our favorite iPhone and iPad games out there. Infinity Blade 3 is certainly the one to get if you're only going to get one, but the whole series is fantastic, and it's worth trying out the older ones if you haven't already. $5.99 $0.99 - Download Infinity Blade $6.99 $1.99 - Download Infinity Blade II $6.99 $2.99 - Download Infinity Blade III …
