How to fix the rear iSight camera in your iPhone: The ultimate guide
by Guest Allyson Kazmucha- 0 replies
If the rear iSight camera on your iPhone either isn't working or shows imperfections in photos, it's possible that the camera assembly itself is defective or damaged. While defects typically just arise for no reason, a damaged iSight camera could be caused from a hard fall. Typical symptoms of a broken or defective iSight camera include a blacked out screen when trying to take a picture, purple or blue blemishes on the screen that also appear in the resulting photo, and lines going through the screen either while snapping photos or that just appear in the final photo. What iPhone you have will dictate how difficult a DIY repair will be. Luckily, we've got the guide you ne…

Could growing frustration with low App Store prices lead to better, more expensive games?
by Guest John Callaham- 0 replies
Stoic, the developers of the role playing game The Banner Saga, are trying to help solve the issues of pricing high end games made for the iPad, in an effort to fight the mainstream attitude that such games should either be free or very cheap. The Banner Saga, which has already been released for the PC, is due to launch on the iPad sometime this summer. The PC version normally costs $25 but Stoic's John Watson thinks that price would likely be rejected by most App Store customers. According to what he told Polygon, he's not alone: Apple is frustrated, along with everybody else, about the mentality that's gone rampant in mobile app markets, where people don't wa…

Apple's CEO, Tim Cook says he does 80% of his work on his iPad, and that means 80% of running one of the most valuable companies on earth. You've got to imagine that includes handling his mail, likely his calendar, and probably a lot of information reading, including a lot a numbers. How much of the rest is on his iPhone vs. his Mac is interesting to ponder, but the bottom like is he gets not only most of his daily work done on iPad. So we asked the question — how much can you? — and here are your answers! Turns out, as of publication time, almost a third of you can do as much — or more! — than Apple's CEO. Here's the breakdown: Dozens of you took the time to ad…

This will enable the general public to utilize their contactless payment cards or even a smartphone with NFC (unfortunately, currently not an iPhone) to access the transport network in London. Working in a similar way to the pay as you go Oyster cards, the fare will be charged touching in and then out at the end of a journey (unless you're boarding a bus when it's just a single touch-in). Look all the way up! iMore got a shave and a haircut! Well, no. It's a lot more than that. A lot more design. A lot more code. A lot more work. And a lot more smarts. The new iMore header is a reflection of our growth over the last year and the many more stories, and types of stories we're covering. Our old wedding-cake navigation menu got us through some great times, don't get me wrong, but it was static, it was manual, and it was already past its limit. Our new header is fluid, responsive, dynamic, and gives us a foundation from which to grow even better, faster. We have a variant of the iMore logo top left, and little Mobile Nations brand beside it. Then we have our…

Having Yosemite beta code issues? Here's the fix!
by Guest Richard Devine- 0 replies
Since Apple opened the doors on its OS X Yosemite public beta, there have been a number of folks having all kinds of issues redeeming their download codes. The program gives you a Mac App Store code to redeem for your copy, but there's a widespread issue that seems to be telling eager testers their codes have already been redeemed. There's an easy fix for it, though, that should have you up and running in no time. Make sure you're logged in to the redemption page at the OS X Beta portal and if you're seeing the issue, just refresh the page. That's it. Refreshing should generate a new code for you to then go and redeem in the Mac App Store. And if you've yet to do …

Official Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game hits App Store
by Guest Simon Sage- 0 replies
Just in time for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, an official action game has just gone live in the App Store. Players pick one of the four classic turtles, and use specific swipes and taps to lay the beat-down against Shredder's minions in a number of different ways. Tapping the screen when an enemy is about to attack launches a counter, while upward swipes send baddies into the air, and horizontal ones deliver devastating attacks. Build up your combo multiplier but not getting hit, and once your Turtle Power meter fills up, you can call on your bros to come in and do a little damage themselves with some fast mini-games. If that sounds at all like Co…

Synchronized Philips Hue lighting hopes to bring the fright to watching Sharknado 2
by Guest Chuong H Nguyen- 0 replies

As if the thought of watching Sharknado 2 wasn't scary enough an idea in itself, the movie's creator is pairing up with Philips to create an immersive experience by allowing you to pair the cinematic experience with Hue lighting to create a synchronized light track with the movie. Users who download the SyFy Sync app for iOS can bring the self-fright by getting the Philips Hue bulbs to pulse in synchronization with Sharknado 2. The SyFy app listens to audio cues from the movie to adjust its lighting to give you what SyFy calls a light track that serves as a visual sountrack in conjunction with the action that's going on in the movie. In fact, it is designed to work w…

SAN FRANCISCO -- The hacking group Anonymous said it planned to launch a concerted attack against Israel on Friday, but as night fell little had happened. As of 9:00 pm in Israel there had been no major cyber attacks, said Uri Rivner, head of cyber strategy at BioCatch, an authentication and threat detection computer security company with staff in Boston and Israel. "So far, Israel is still on the net, and I'm using Skype to do this call with you, so it looks fine," Rivner said from near Tel Aviv. Anonymous uploaded a video to YouTube July 18, saying it would launch the attack and asking "elite hackers" around the world to support it. "We are calling upon the an…

Modern Combat 5 for iPhone and iPad now available
by Guest Simon Sage- 0 replies
We got an early look in our Modern Combat 5 review yesterday, and now y'all can get in on the best first-person-shooter to hit iOS in some time. This game rocks top-notch graphics, challenging multiplayer, and action gameplay honed over several generations of the franchise. What's most impressive here is the absolute lack of in-app purchases. The core gameplay is largely the same: run, gun, chew through single-player challenges and campaign missions, level up and expand one of four classes... There's a new Squad system so you can team up with buddies for limited-time multiplayer events. It's great to get a game that goes back to traditional pricing, and if you think …

Get up and groove with Dance Party TV for iPhone and Apple TV
by Guest Richard Devine- 0 replies

The team from Rolecule is back with a brand new game for your Apple TV, Dance Party TV. From the developers that brought you Motion Tennis in 2013, Dance Party TV is another iPhone game that uses AirPlay – and wizardry – to display a completely different game interface on your Apple TV. And as before, your iPhone and your motion is the controller. I've spent a little time throwing down some moves with it – albeit, very poorly – and you know what? It's really good. Before you're able to get your groove on you'll need to set up AirPlay mirroring on your iPhone. The game walks you through the process if you've never done it before, or you can read more about it here.…
