How to make icons, text, and graphics larger with Display Zoom for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus
by Guest Allyson Kazmucha- 0 replies
The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus both come equipped with brand new Retina HD displays that can show more content on them than ever. However, just like computer screens, some folks prefer sacrificing seeing more on the screen in favor of actually being able to see it, even if it means sacrificing on resolution slightly. Display Zoom on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus works in much the same way and lets you do just that! How to use Display Zoom on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus Launch the Settings app. Tap on Display & Brightness. Under the Display Zoom section, tap on View. By default, Standard will be selected. Tap on Zoomed in order to change it. You can swipe back and for…

Forget in-store pickup, former retail head Ron Johnson wants to 'Uber' your gadget orders to...
by Guest Chuong H Nguyen- 0 replies

While calling for a car service to take you somewhere may sound trite, having your gadgets that you just ordered delivered to your doorstep may not be and that's what former Apple retail head Ron Johnson is working on. Johnson has reportedly been poaching former and current Apple employees, including former Apple VP of retail Jerry McDougal who left to spend more time with family, to work on this Uber-like on-demand delivery service. Johnson's claim to fame was bringing to life Apple's retail concept. After that, he had departed Apple to take the helm of J.C. Penny. While rivals like Google and Amazon are envisioning a day when drones can deliver your goods to you…

Peer-to-Peer limitation means only certain Apple TVs can make friends over AirPlay
by Guest Chuong H Nguyen- 0 replies
It appears that the latest Apple TV firmware update that brought Peer-to-Peer AirPlay to the Apple TV came with some caveats. Primarily that the Peer-to-Peer feature is limited to only the latest generation Apple TV hardware and won't work with older models. According to an updated Apple support document that was updated after the firmware went live, Peer-to-Peer AirPlay requires a 2013 model Apple TV. Peer-to-peer AirPlay requires a Mac device (2012 or later) running OS X 10.10 or an iOS device (2012 or later) running iOS 8 and an Apple TV third-generation rev A (model A1469) running Apple TV software 7.0. The feature basically allows Macs and iOS devices…

There are lots of great photo editing apps available for the iPhone. However, no matter how great they are, you still have to edit in multiple apps at times in order to get the results you want. iOS 8 is aiming to change all that by using the built-in Photos app as a central hub for editing tools across the board. Once you've got apps installed that support photo and video extensions, all you've got to do is enable and start using them! How to enable photo and video extensions in iOS 8 Photo and video extensions only work if you have apps installed that support them. That means you'll need to have photo and video editing apps installed via the App Store that have …

Is Apple making a faster AirPort Express?
by Guest Peter Cohen- 0 replies
A customer in the store last weekend asked me if Apple had updated the AirPort Express yet. He said that he wanted another one but wasn't willing to buy it until they added 802.11ac to it. It's been almost a year and a half since Apple released the AirPort Extreme with 802.11ac networking, after all. There are some things to consider, however. Read on for details. The AirPort Express is Apple's $99 router. It's great for small apartments or areas that don't have a lot of users. It also has a audio out jack that can be connected to an audio source like a stereo receiver, so it can act as an AirPlay receiver too — you can use the AirPort Express to stream audio to diff…

Mojang's Scrolls coming to iPad later this fall, will be priced at $5
by Guest Joseph Keller- 0 replies
Mojang, the developers of Minecraft and recently acquired by Microsoft, are preparing to release their latest game, Scrolls, for iPad later this year, and they have announced that they will reduce the price of the game closer to launch. Currently $20.95, Scrolls will be available for $5 when the tablet version releases this fall. While they looked at free-to-play as an option, they were wary of how that might affect the experience, according to Mojang: Our current price of $21 isn't feasible for tablets. As you probably already know, games are cheap on those things. Free-to-play would be an option, but we're not keen on the way that that form of monetisation ca…

During E3 this year, Gameloft announced the latest game in the Asphalt series of racers. Surprisingly, the next Asphalt won't be Asphalt 9. Instead, the series is spinning off in a new direction with Asphalt Overdrive. Instead of a serious arcade-style racer, the new Asphalt will be an endless racer – sort of like Gameloft's recently released Spider-Man Unlimited or Sega's Crazy Taxi City Rush. Players who are wondering how well Asphalt works as an endless racer plays won't have to wait long to find out. Today Gameloft announced that Asphalt: Overdrive will be coming to Android, iOS, Windows Phone, and Windows 8 this Thursday, September 25! The publisher also release…

Netizens, please wait patiently. When China wasn't listed in the first wave of countries set to receive the iPhone 6, there was speculation that Apple had run into difficulties securing the necessary regulatory approvals. This does not seem to be the case, as Wei confirmed tha…

Google is continuing to harness everything its search engine is learning through Knowledge Graph with a new feature it's calling "Structured Snippets." For select search terms, you'll now see facts and data points appear right underneath individual search results. That might sound confusing, so Google's explaining it with a visual example. If you search for Nikon's D7100 right now, you'll see the camera's core specs appear beneath DPreview's search result, like this: Whether you see snippets for a given search is pretty hit or miss right now. Google pulls all of this data from tables on the linked website, and the company says it'll keep working to ensur…

UK retailer Phones 4u has recently gone into administration, announcing the closure of 700 stores and placing 5,600 positions at risk. Luckily for those involved, there is - at least - some light at the end of this tunnel with multiple parties picking up stores and absorbing employees, including both EE and Vodafone. EE is set to acquire 58 stores from Phones 4u, safeguarding 359 jobs. On Friday, Vodafone announced the company would take over 140 Phones 4u outlets. While UK mobile operators and Dixons Carphone (Currys PCWorld) are looking to absorb Phones 4u property and take on employees who face losing their jobs, there are still thousands of jobs still at risk. …
