Players in the game can pick from one of four characters and then go on quests to fight monsters, solve mysteries and more. Here's a breakdown of the game's features, which is now on sale for $5.99 for the iPad: Art design taken straight from the critically acclaimed Witcher seri…

How to fix a broken Home button in the iPhone 5c
by Guest Allyson Kazmucha- 0 replies
iPhones have always been prone to Home button issues and the iPhone 5c isn't any exception. Since it's the most used button, it's not uncommon that it should wear over time. However, if you're out of warranty and not ready for a new iPhone, a replacement could cost a few hundred dollars. Luckily, a DIY Home button replacement on an iPhone 5c isn't very hard at all and only costs a couple bucks. So if your Home button isn't registering presses anymore or doesn't work as good as it should, follow along and we'll help you replace it! The Home button itself isn't normally the problem. It's the Home button cable that wears over time and results in it becoming less respons…

iPhones and iPads led the way in mobile shopping on Thanksgiving
by Guest Joseph Keller- 0 replies
Online sales during Thanksgiving were up this year, with iPhones and iPads grabbing a large percentage of online shopping on mobile devices. Overall online sales were up 14 percent over 2013, with iOS devices alone counting for a quarter of all sales. iOS devices also had a substantial lead in mobile site traffic. From TechCrunch: Yesterday, the average order value on iOS devices was $118.57, only $23 more than on Android devices. But iOS led the way in bringing more site traffic at 36% versus 16%, and in what may be the real killer stat, iOS devices alone accounted for over one-quarter of all sales, with Android at 7%. Mobile devices accounted for one-thi…

On a Windows 7 Dell Inspiron 2020 All-in-One with 4 gb ram and an Intel i-3 cpu 2nd Generation that I have worked on quite a few times it seems I have been there 3 times in the last year to clean up infections. Not a cheap pc, we decided to replace the hard drive with an ssd drive since the prices have come down so much and the user is sick and tired of how slow it is. Since I won a similar pc I was sure the ssd drive would make a huge difference and we were ready to reinstall Windows anyway since the issues just cannot seem to go away with normal cleanings. I had scanned with several different products for rootkits and did not see any, mainly "M-Bar" and "Rootkit Remover…

In early October, I published the results of a script-based analysis of the top feedback requests for Windows 10 in the Windows Technical Preview. Here's a second peek at this data, updated after almost two months of testing. As with the initial posting, the most popular requests are again an interesting mix of common sense ideas and superficial changes. Once again, this list comes courtesy of reader Matt Goldstein, so allow me to once again thank him publicly, both for this data and for his very helpful typo/grammar fixes (which are always appreciated). Thanks, Matt. So here are the top individual feature requests in the Windows Technical Preview as of late Novembe…

Convenience — Apple Watch's killer feature
by Guest Rene Ritchie- 0 replies
A lot of the post-game analysis surrounding the Apple Watch event in September centered on the showcasing of a list of features rather than the presentation of a clear case for why people need it in their lives. There was no iPhone-style "are you getting it yet?" moment or iPad-style "better than both" argument. Yet the neither of those devices really sold based on those pitches. The iPhone had us at the interface and the iPad at the experience. Because of that — because we've seen amazing interfaces and enjoyed incredible experiences already — the Apple Watch will have to have us at something else. And that something else will be convenience. Before the Apple Watch wa…

This update adds three new vehicles designed for winter racing. The KTM X-Bow Winter Concept puts an emphasis on starting horsepower, while the Peugeot 2008 DKR should perform well on snow. by Guest Paul Acevedo- 0 replies

Tales from the Borderlands is a brand-new episodic adventure game set within the Borderlands universe. A collaboration between Telltale Games and Gearbox Software, Tales is the most story-driven Borderlands game yet. Players can grab the episodes individually as they are released, or opt for a season pass to get all five episodes for a little cheaper. The first episode is already available on Xbox One and 360, Playstation 3 and 4, and PC and Mac, with the Android and iOS versions sometime thereafter. To celebrate the launch of Tales from the Borderlands, Telltale Games recently held a premiere event at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Richardson (Dallas), TX. This mark…

Yosemite Save sheet growing too long to handle? Here's the fix!
by Guest Peter Cohen- 0 replies
OS X Yosemite brings a new host of features and functionality to OS X, and some problems as well. One of the more vexing issues that's popped up is a problem that causes the save screen to grow longer and longer until it scrolls right off the bottom of the screen. Turns out it's a bug, and a pretty ugly one too — I have no idea why Apple thought it was acceptable to let Yosemite ship with this glaring mess-up. Over at his Six Colors blog, Jason Snell explains what's going on: According to [Jon Gotow of St. Clair Software], what happened is that Apple changed the file dialogs so that the title bar is now considered to be part of the window—and changed the math eve…

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, the acclaimed action-adventure game from developer Oddworld Inhabitants, is now available for iPhone and iPad owners in the iTunes store for $5.99. The game was first released for the original Xbox console in 2005, and was the last game in the series from Oddworld Inhabitants. Developer Just Add Water created a graphically revamped version of Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath that was first released for the PC in 2010 and was later launched for the PlayStation 3 and the PS Vita consoles. The game itself is a great mix of fantasy and Wild West themes as you control The Stranger, who tries to capture outlaws and collect bounties. Here's a quick …

How Apple keeps AirDrop files private and secure
by Guest Rene Ritchie- 0 replies
AirDrop, part of Apple's Continuity features, makes it easy to share files between your iPhone, iPad, and/or Mac. It's especially useful for files that are larger than Messages or Mail can comfortably handle, and for situations where you want to transfer directly, without any information going over the internet. You have to be within range of Bluetooth Low Energy (BT LE), and have Wi-Fi enabled to handle the actual data, but when you do, AirDrop makes it simple and easy to share any file from OS X, and almost anything that can call up a Share Sheet on iOS. Best of all, AirDrop keeps your files private and secure. Encrypted identities When AirDrop is turned on, a 2…

Olloclip for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus review
by Guest Allyson Kazmucha- 0 replies
Olloclip is now available for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. And not only has the 4-in-1 lens system been completely redesigned for the new form-factors, but for the first time ever, Olloclip has been redesigned to work with the front FaceTime camera as well. So, how does it work? What's in the box When you unpack the Olloclip for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus you'll notice that you have a few more pieces than before. The colored pendants that you get serve two purposes, the most obvious is to protect the inside of the lenses. The second is to make it more convenient than ever to tote your Olloclip with you wherever you go. Just clip it on the included lanyard or to yo…
