What is Happening? This message is to inform you that Microsoft will soon begin discontinuing newsgroups and transitioning users to Microsoft forums. Why? As you may know, newsgroups have existed for many years now however, the traffic in the Microsoft newsgroups has been steadily decreasing for the past several years while customers and participants are increasingly finding solutions in the forums on Microsoft properties and third party sites. This move will unify the customer experience, centralize content, make it easier for active contributors to retain their influence, mitigate redundancies and make the content easier to find by cus…

The Air Force bought over 2,000 Sony PS3 Playstations and turned them into a 500 Teraflop processing cluster - running Linux. Midway through this process, Sony dinked the BIOS to disable each machine if it detected an non-conforming OS. Windows 7 Freeze when network cable connected
by Guest Clay- 0 replies

I have been running Windows 7 64 bit enterprise on my Dell Optiplex 755 for two months now and it has been rock solid stable. However earlier this week I came in the office and attempted log in and the system was frozen. I have discovered that if I boot the system without the network card plugged in - it works just fine. I can log in and work normally (without network connectivity). But as soon as I plug the network card in the system freezes. I have installed two additional network cards (one intel and one realtek) but had the same results. As soon as I plug the network cable in either card the system freezes. I did not find anything in the event…

Anonymouse Sharing XP Home, Vista Home, 7 Home Premium
by Guest Aram Mirzadeh- 0 replies

Hi, I'm having an issue sharing files between my three machines (there are actually none windows machines as well using SMB share). They all work with each other except "Windows 7" is misbehaving. Everyone is prompted for a password to browse the 7 machine, and 7 is asked for password when it tries to look at any other device. This is obviously a "password encryption" thing that I have run into before, but now I cannot seem to find a solution. I have the following changes to Windows 7: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa LmCompatibilityLevel=1 Which I think is all I had to do with Vista and XP to get them to c…

Open office applictaion in specific window size
by Guest !ngeniuos- 0 replies

HI. We have an Access applictaion developed to be displayed on a 1024x768 scrreen size, This was done so forms could be viewed in a partcular manner. However, if one opens the application and your monitor resolution is much larger - say 1280x768 it opens in full size, but with a lot of grey background space- Is there a setting where I could open Access to default to a specific size - (1024x768) - thus forcing the app to look a bit more normal - maybe even like a floting window? Thanx -- !ngeniuos (99% Perspiration)
