Large Language Models (LLMs) have demonstrated exceptional abilities in performing natural language tasks that involve complex reasoning. As a result, these models have evolved to function as agents capable of planning, strategising, and solving complex problems. However, challenges persist when it comes to making decisions under uncertainty, where outcomes are not deterministic, or when adaptive decision-making is required in changing environments, especially in multi-step scenarios where each step influences the next. We need more advanced capabilities… This is where GPT-4’s advanced reasoning capabilities and Language Agent Tree Search (LATS) come together to addres…

As developers, we must be vigilant about how attackers could misuse our applications. While maximizing the capabilities of Generative AI (Gen-AI) is desirable, it's essential to balance this with security measures to prevent abuse. In a recent blog post, we discussed how a Gen AI application should use user identities for accessing sensitive data and performing sensitive operations. This practice reduces the risk of jailbreak and prompt injections, preventing malicious users from gaining access to resources they don’t have permissions to. However, what if an attacker manages to run a prompt under the identity of a valid user? An attacker can hide a prompt in…

Just because you build it (or implement it) does not mean employees will simply adopt it. It takes planning, discussion, and communication. Good rollout methodologies do include good implementation – implementation based on planned compliance and adherence to our privacy and security policies. At Microsoft, our IT team balances employee self-service with managed guardrails to protect the business. As we scale any solution, app, or service scales for use by our employees and guests, we focus on end user readiness, adoption, and proactive feedback loops that lead to informed decisions and course correction. by Guest WSilveira- 0 replies

Starting with version 4.57.6, the Azure Logic Apps (Standard) extension for Visual Studio Code will automatically regenerate the connection keys required to allow the extension to access Azure Managed Connections. This will allow the same Azure Managed Connection to be used for projects for longer than 7 days without any user intervention. Notice that this will not renew the key, for security purposes, but generate a new key and update the configuration to use the newly generated key instead. The connection keys will be evaluated at two points in time to make sure the Azure Managed Connection keys are not expired: When the project is opened in VS Co…

How Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Avalara make sales tax easy
by Guest brendaconnell- 0 replies

In this guest blog post, Brenda Connell, writer for Avalara, explains how e-commerce creates a challenging sales tax landscape for businesses of all sizes, and how Avalara and Microsoft Dynamics 365 help these businesses stay compliant and avoid fines and penalties. Sales tax used to be somewhat simple: A business sold its products or services from its physical location, then collected and remitted sales tax based on the laws of that jurisdiction. The business did that because it had nexus — the connection to a jurisdiction that creates an obligation to collect sales tax. In 2018, that all changed with just one court decision — a case that completely upended…

As we are aware, Azure Files currently does not support identity-based connections. This means that even if we can use identity-based host connections to replace the AzureWebjobsStorage, which uses a SAS token, we still cannot remove the file share connection strings (WEBSITE_CONTENTAZUREFILECONNECTIONSTRING) that also rely on a SAS token. Therefore, we are unable to disable the SAS token in the storage account. For now, when creating function apps in the consumption/EP plan, we have the option to create an app without Azure File. In this scenario, we can bypass the SAS token requirement for Azure Files and solely utilize managed identity to access the storage acco…
