Hybrid workspaces are continuously evolving, with changes like increasingly varied work locations and the shift of more workplace communications and interactions to collaboration platforms, such as Microsoft Teams. These apps make hybrid work possible through their flexibility and seamless digital collaboration. Yet, at the same time, organizations’ security and compliance leaders are scaling imperatives like compliance management across platforms and expanding traditional office settings, because industry regulations and corporate policies must protect data and employees, regardless of where work takes place. Compliance and regulatory risks in collaboration and cloud-dri…

The Microsoft 365 App Compliance Program offers assurance to organizations that their data and privacy are secured when deploying 3rd party applications. This includes apps built for Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, OneNote, and Project. The Microsoft 365 App Compliance Program is a two-step approach to app security and compliance: Publisher Verification provides identity verification of app publishers, so users are assured the apps they utilize are authentic. Microsoft 365 Certified apps have undergone self-attestation and a comprehensive 3rd party audit to ensure proper data handling, encryption, antivirus, and firewall security like th…

Microsoft’s own human resources (HR) portal - known internally as HRWeb - gets personal, thanks to the modern SharePoint experience in Microsoft 365. Microsoft employees use HRWeb to check on benefits, adjust withholdings, find a specific company policy, and more. I use it to check health benefits, get career guidance, learn about official company holidays, and print out tax info when it's tax season here in the US. HRWeb is a one-stop shop internal human resources site that serves a variety of important employment information for all 160,000+ employees worldwide. By: Jack Davis – Sr. Product Manager | Microsoft Endpoint Manager – Intune With the recent general availability of custom compliance, customers now have the ability to further define what device compliance means for their organization's managed Windows devices. Custom compliance uses a PowerShell script and an associated JSON file to define one or more rules. The process works like this: The PowerShell script runs on a device to discover and report on the settings defined in the JSON file. Then, the JSON file defines the acceptable values for those settings. Depending on your custom compliance script complexity, manually building a JSON file to evalua…

In June, Databricks announced that they are open sourcing Delta Lake 2.0. Delta Lake is quickly becoming the format of choice in data science and data engineering. To import Delta Lake into a Synapse dedicated SQL Pool you would need Azure Data Factory/Synapse Pipelines or Spark to handle the Delta Lake files. This is not ideal because it adds extra overheads of complexity, time, and costs. As an intellectual challenge, I wondered if it's possible to import Delta Lake files directly into the dedicated SQL Pool and support features like time-travel. It turned out to be a great little project and a great way of learning about Delta Lake. I have upl…

You could do it directly from Azure Portal or use Azure CLI: az spring-cloud config-server git set -n myspringcloud --uri <git_repo_url> In your Spring Boot application, add the decryption key in the bootstrap.yml file. As previously announced, IE11 is being retired through two phases – a redirection phase in which devices are progressively redirected from IE to Microsoft Edge over the next few months after June 15, 2022, and a Windows Update phase, in which IE will be permanently disabled. For organizations that are ready to remove IE, you don’t have to wait for redirection or the Windows update to do so. What is the Disable IE Policy? After configuring IE mode, you can disable IE11 as a standalone browser on your organization’s devices and replicate the user experience that will be rolled out with the future Windows Update that will permanently disable IE. Microsoft strives to increase not only the security of the ecosystem, but also maintain our commitment to an open and inclusive ecosystem. Code signing is a part of that. It establishes the identity of the publisher of the application as well as the integrity that it has not been modified since publication. However, code signing is often difficult to do; whether that is obtaining a certificate, securing it, or operationalizing a secure service to integrate with build pipelines. Microsoft is committed to security, and we want to empower developers to have the toolsets to build and distribute applications securely. Azure Code Signing does just that. Azure Code Signing aims …

The amount of information we create has grown exponentially, and more often is distributed across multiple sources, making finding the right information, at the right time, increasingly difficult. Large enterprises typically use 15-20 disparate systems to store their information- including popular industry standard applications as well as custom line of business applications. Enterprises want to search across these data sources with minimal context switching. Microsoft Graph connectors helps enterprises merge all these data sources with Microsoft 365 content, to surface the information across multiple endpoints using Microsoft Search.
