I have XP and this problem exists on only one user. The others are normal. The wallpaper is the standard blue and when I select any other wallpaper, nothing happens. Text and icon size and other prefs have been altered and also cannot be changed. Also I am unable to download anything as that user and everything drags. I have run Norton Anti-virus and Win-doctor, Adaware, and Spybot, but only on other user log-ins because under the affected log-in, these programs just freeze up if I try to run them. Hello all, hope you are having a fine evening. I recently enrolled in college and I've been having a heck of a time navigating through their web pages. I get a lot of: Internal Error message 500 hypertext transfer protocol. I tried their tech support which advised me to add them to "trusted sites," which I did and it helped some. Once in a while I get to where I want to go without any problems, but most of the time when I try to navigate in the secure pages I get various error messages and have to start over, and I can never get any printer friendly pages to come up. Just installed a new HD. The old one crashed (40GB), the new one is (80GB). The OS is Windows ME. I'm installed it ok and also checked the BIOS and it detected it fine. I tried booting from the installation CD for WinME (as I read somewhere that is bootable) and my CD ROM doesnt seem to be reading it. The green light come on but I dont hear anything else. My screen pops up with Invalid Boot Diskette, Insert Boot Diskette in Drive A: I changed my Boot to start with Floppy and inserted a Win98 bootable diskette and that message still comes up. Good day all, I have a littel issue that I'm hoping someone can resove 4 me. I have a Dell Latitude D610 laptop with WinXP Pro installed with SP2, and it has USB2. I removed the harddrive and put in another one, formated and installed XP Pro in FAT32 on it with SP2, then installed all the drivers. I pulled out the new harddrive and put it into a external USB2 harddrive enclosure. I put back my original harddrive into my laptop, set my BIOS sequence to boot from USB first and let it run. Hi, before I start i'm pretty much computer illiterate. I want to buy a new computer to replace my old one which I purchased from dell (uk dell). When i purchased my old one the dell site was alot simpler (less options to change when configuring the computer and less computers to choose from in the first place) and with a bit of help I managed to purchase one which i have been very happy with. I wish to purchase my next computer through dell again but now their seems to be lots of options and differences between computers and their set ups. For example what's the difference between duel-core and duel-processor, whats the difference between 32bits and 64bits......... etc…

Hi, newbie to the group here. I just put together a new system and am seeing a odd problem. Everything except the HDD is new Asus K8N-E board 1 GB Ram ATI video card (AGP) Seagate 40Gb EIDE drive ( previously used) Sony DVD/CD WinXP pro in DVD drive pre-booted and changed setup to 'boot from DVD' boots from DVD - ok Problem - loads drivers up to point where it says loading NTFS file system, then black screen, system restarts... On first pass, I found the HDD cable wasn't seated ok, but even after this was corrected, it does it consistantly... any suggestions? thx

Hi.... I'm new to this, and I have been having a problem trying to install ANYTHING. due to the problem with the "The call to loadlibrary failed with error 2". This started a few months ago, not sure why, and I tried to do a restore to an earlier date, only problem with that is, I tried to do the latter too late. (it only let me restore back to a certain date). I can't even use the Windows CD that came with my PC. I'm sure the problem is with the NTSD.exe program or possibly the Windows Installer..(?) I've tried different programs like "Systems Mechanics".... and such, plus I have the latest updates of my Virus scanner, so, I don't think its a virus..... Maybe miss…

hey. I just bought a MR814 Neatgear Wireless router and im having problems with it. It works fine with psp wireless gameplay but when i try to surf the web it says "Finding Site" at the bottom of the browser and the page never loads up. It was working half way, now it will not work at all. I turned off mcafee firewall and virusscan and the windows firewall. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hello all, I am new...I am ashamed to say that I got caught up in the download world and ended up with a infected "hacker" virus. I run and keep current on norton, it was isolated but deletion was unsuccesful. I finally think I deleting all files with Copy lock but there are still 3 hidden files in my recycle bin that I cannot view. It makes my recycle bin appear full and will not let me delete the three files. saying cannot delet from file or source disk. ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!! Thanks, Apryl

can someone please help me. I have the sound card installed, and drivers are installed. I have no audio device showing on my computer thought I tried what you said to do, and It didnt work. I am missing the plug and play enumerator device on my computer. Please help me as I have no where else to turn. I have been without sound for 6 days! :confused:

PWDC-ADC passed test frssysvol We have not experienced any network or replication problem so I do not know what to make of this. I also ran netdiag and repadmin /showreps, everyhthing passed during the test. We have a single domain running w2k SP4 in native mode with AD. There are no DNS issue nor are there any error reported in the event logs.

Hey I'm new around here :) and would love for someone to help me out. So I had Windows XP Proffesional before my comp crashed. :( So my brother "made" me a computer. Now I installed windows 98 cause that was the only cd i found. I ended up buying Winows XP Home edition last night because I couldn't find the professional CD. But now that I'm trying to install it, my only thing blicking it from installing is it says that I need to remove " Microsoft Shared Fax Client". I have NO idea where this is to even remove it :( . I would like to take close pictures of coins but can't seem to get the right focus and when I go to take the picture it seems to go out of focus even on manual focus. What am I doing wrong??What settings should I be using?

Hi, I was using Win 2000 since now but today (unfortunetly) I have upgraded to Win Xp and my problem start My computer cannot open .exe files. (It tells me it is not associated with a program and tells me to fix this in folder options, however folder options ,regedit, word, media player says the same thing.) I tried every possible ways , even I tried to Roll back (uninstall XP) to 2000 but the option 'Add /remove programme' in 'Control Pannel' gives the same above message Please help me i need it very badly

I've been given a PC by some friends of mine and i wished to upgrade it, could anyone please give me some advice? The PC is a Compaq 510 small form factor (also known as D51S). The PC is a P4 1.8GHz with 256 mb RAM, i've checked the specification documents and apparently the PC can hold 2Gb of RAM in any variation (ie: 256 + 1024 chip would work). However the type of RAM is DDR2100, i've checked the crucial website to see what RAM they recommend for the PC and its something like DDR2100 and DDR2700 - but the higher spec will only run at DDR2100. It didnt mention the faster DDR3200 RAM. Rather then buy out of date RAM, i would rather buy the later DDR3200 incase i t…

Hi, I think after I loaded some new software my autoplay function for photos stopped working. So I right clicked on the drive and clicked on Autoplay tab. It said "Music Files" so I switched it to "Pictures", clicked "Prompt me..." and hit apply and OK. I put my SD card in and the autoplay didn't work. I went back to the SD drive and it said "Music Files". I have tried it numerous times even with restarting the computer, but after I switch it to "Pics" it somehow changes it back to "Music". Any suggestions?? Thanks.
